I fish for splake quite a bit during the winter. You guys had the right idea. I like fishing for them over the deepest water near a sharp drop off anywhere from 5-20’ under the ice. Darker days are better than bright days.

"We appreciative you" too, Jon. I've only ever had Lake trout out of Yellowstone Lake, where you have to kill it so you might as well eat it. We foil wrapped it with sliced onions, lemon, butter and salt and pepper. Some of the best fish I have ever had.

As a salmon fisherman on the west coast, I have seen dozens of times where a boat will run through a hole I or my friends have been fishing for a long time with no bites or bobber downs, then the boat runs through down river and suddenly bam the fish bite.
