I think it was around 1968 that Trigger and me struggled up to London in the old 1936 Morris 8 to a concert at the Royal Festival Hall, Fairport Convention the headliners with Jackson C Frank and Joni on what I think was her first London gig ,further down the bill . She was nervous and had a cold as I remember . A couple of years later I was living in that house in Muswell Hill called Fairport . Very happy days and a wonder filled time to be young .

Joni really seemed ageless physically and looked well into her 50s and even her 60s, despite the cigarette smoking which changed her voice and (perhaps, can't be proven) eventually took its toll on her. I absolutely adore her. She is a musical genius, a brilliant artist. She will be looked on in history as one of the true greats, an irreplaceable, never to be duplicated icon. Even if this video makes you sad in some way, rejoice in the fact that she is here at 75. Janis Joplin and the others didn't make it of their 20s. Neither did Amy Winehouse. LONG LIVE JONI MITCHELL.

Yeah well, if you want a real genuine one that would be dandy, but I don't think attempting to squeeze certain on stage here is in any way respectful of the lady of the moment. And as for Graham Nash and James Taylor - had their mis-step moments in the early 70s but these days I think they have matured into very fine men and it is no surprise to see them here. IF he had to fly right across from Hawaii, he would have - he's that sort of guy. James too. They are both wearing well considering some of the abuse they've self-inflicted. Lucky genes, I guess, though Nash is the McCartney of the mob - he wised up back in the 80s and started to really look after seeing what happened to Croz (and a few others) would tend to do that to you. As for Neil Young - considering he's also had some serious health issues, it's a little surprising in some ways to not see him here, and not so much in others. I understand he lost a house in the California inferno - I'm assuming that's just as bad as it sounds and he's likely comforting his wife and family, as well as trying to help out however he can. He loves and respect Joni too and being a fellow Canadian makes it a pretty tight bond. They have history going way back and now health issues affecting the brain are a battle they're both enduring. These wonderful artists have all created a lot of extraordinary music and brought amazing joy around the globe. May God bless them all, and keep them in His care. Love you Joni, PS. Chaka Khan - major bonus!

What are your thoughts regarding her 75th birthday event? Mapemaker:Well aside from the fact she’s been a drug addict most of her life-I still believe she is one of the most important artists of the 20th century. Can you say more about her addiction? Well to be honest I thought it was down right pathetic that they actually made a big event out of her 75th birthday. An event where shes slowly wheeled out in her wheel chair with all these pathetic people gather together and celebrating the fact that she had made it to age of 75- especially considering the fact she had been poisoning herself with nicotine most of her life. It was like watching an advertisement for the American cancer association.Whats even more crazier is that they even sell a Dvd of the ridicules event.I’m surprised she went along with such a charade-she a lot smarter than this-I fear she goes along with these things because she feels she owes it to public.
@eightinches3671 Жыл бұрын
What the fuck is your problem? Probably everybody up there on stage had some kind of addiction in their past. they grew up in the 60's! These are her friends, people that know her, people that probably recorded with her. They were the ones that wanted to put this celebration on. Why the negativity? You're the kind of people that hate life and try to bring people down. Get professional help, and soon.
@themapmaker5178 Жыл бұрын
@@eightinches3671 What do you think of the LP déjà vu? Mapemaker:On the day of its release (1970)I thought it was a great album and I would still feel this way if it were not for all this reissue crap. I feel that the more they reissue these songs the more they lose there integrity. What accounts for all these reissues-its not only CSNY it’s the mamas and papas,Peter Townsend, Paul McCartney ,Jagger and Richards the list is endless? Mapmaker:no doubt the music music industry has definitely turned into one of the biggest whore houses on the face earth. Since these has beens can no longer write decent songs they have to count on their reissuing of songs from a time when they did write and sing some great songs.There reaching the end of there pathetic lives and their insecurities start overwhelming them to the point were they have to continue to rely on reissues so in their shallow superficial minds they can feel relevant. It’s become merchandizing (t shirts coffee cups etc) of the ridicules. Why do they do this? Mapmaker:Well the need to feed their big fat egos , there obsessed with creating a self-concept that has stood the test of time and enables them to cope with the demands of the present and the uncertainties of the future. They need to believe that they left their mark in life.Sadly however they do this by mythmaking and denying negative aspects of their past. Mapmaker:David Crosby said in his recent documentary that he can not explain why he is still alive? He’s Goddam lier-he knows why he’s alive-he’s alive due to the advances in modern medicine! Not to mention that he was moved up the recipient list at expense of other human beings.Yet this was never mentioned in his documentary.. David Crosby has a manipulative way of publicly coming up with mendacious ways to justify his behavior. He’s even gone so far to state that Neil Young is selfish and only thinks of himself. This is unbelievable! But not surprising. This statement is from the same clown who for example when the COVID epidemic started- the only thing David Crosby was concerned about was he was going to lose his home because he couldn’t make any money touring. Meanwhile people all over the world are dying and all he can think about is losing his home and what’s even more pathetic is that David Crosby wouldn’t even be in the poor financial situation had he not wasted all this money on drugs. Keep in mind that this house that he’s so concerned about isn’t the kind of house most people can afford to live in anyway -it’s not like he lives in a trailer park. Another sick example is how David Crosbys manipulatively used the accidental death of his girlfriend Christine Gail Hinton to justify his excessive drug indulgence during the 1970s.Do you really believe that Christine Gal Hinton would have wanted anyone to use her death to justify their drug indulgence? I mean wouldn’t have been something instead of using her death to justify his drug intelligence he had done something positive in honor of her death. Yet he has th audacity to say Neil Young only thinks of himself! Rolling stone magazine has had nothing but positive things to say about his song writing and singing. Mapemaker:This is true you but you see the fact of the matter is is that Rolling Stone magazine is and always has been one of the most unreliable and in accurate resources in regards to assessing music. They always have been and always will be a contemptible and incompetent resource for assessing music. Rolling stone magazine says the music is great you can rest asure it’s nothing but garbage.Ive said this before that when David Crosby was writing great songs and singing beautifully Rolling Stone Magazine trashed them but now that it’s writing horrible verbose songs and singing like his vocal cords are caught in a vice grip,there singing praises about what a great singer and songwriter he is. David Crosby has said that Graham Nash is his enemy. And that Graham Nash only helped him out for personal monetary reasons. Mapmaker:This is a big slap in the face. David Crosby is nothing but thoughtless pig. Graham Nash has never needed any money.Graham Nash has done nothing but help David Crosby throughout most of Crosby’s career with genuine effection. The only reason Graham Nash doesn’t have anything to do with David Crosby again is because Graham Nash only trying to protect himself from David Crosby-he’s nothing but a scumbag. Its dangerious to ones whole well being and mental health to deal with such a character.Its dangerous to hang around with someone as poisonous as David Crosby. David Crosby said that the Stephen Stills was the best song writer in CSN. You can always tell when David Crosby is lying and saying something dumb his mouth is moving. Everyone knows and it’s a fact that David Crosby and Stephen Stills would not have experienced the great success that they did had it not been for the great songwriting talents of Graham Nash. But it is beneath Graham Nash to ever think in such terms for he always had great respect for the talent of Stephen Stills and David Crosby. Is David Crosby the biggest mendacious self serving manipulator in rock and roll? You would think so but surprisingly he is not, I would have accord that accolade to Paul McCartney. He is without a doubt the biggest insecure sleexzet lying mythmakimng scum bag in rock and roll history. This is not an opinion but a fact!!!!!! And believe you me this takes a lot of doing! Why hasn’t any of the people who work for these Characters tell them to their face when they are mistaken: They seldom do-seldom (if they don’t want to lose their job) do people who are employed tell there boss that they are pigs or arrogant scum bags or the tell them the song they’ve written is garbage.I believe this is the danger that confronts every individual of musical notoriety..The competition for favor breeds servility and hypocrisy.People like David Crosby ,Graham Nash Steven Stills because of their wealth and notoriety are cut off from all constructive criticism or discussions of creative integrity only to find themselves surrounded by spineless toadies. Were the rock and roll singers of the 1960’s corrupt as well as ambitious? Mapmaker: As autobiographies and biographies of a lot of self serving dead beats (David Crosby Jagger and Richards ,FRANK ZAPPA,PETER TOWSEND, Van and Jim Morrison, the list is endless)that emerged from the 1960’s attest and continue to clearly document-they clearly were corrupt morally. None of them demonstrated any self control and often had a tendency to treat people around them like dirt. Basically their success gradually turned into a malignant infection that slowly corroded their talent and gift. Their attempt at turning into decent and talented artists failed ignominiously.These characters there image in a big way contributed to the decivilization of our society. The danger of self indulgence, in other words, is that it feeds on itself. Small moral compromises on Monday make you more likely to commit other, bigger moral compromises on Tuesday. What do you think of CSNY version of Woodstock on Deja Vu ? Mapemaker: I think it’s important to state that it’s a beautiful song written by Joni Mitchell. The song does a good job at capturing the patriotic feeling that we all had in regards to the ideals that we all wanted Woodstock to be but in essence it wasn’t. The reality of Woodstock is nothing like the idealism of this song.Woodstock in reality Woodstock was fraud. First of all, the Woodstock Festival did not even happen in Woodstock (Ulster County)- It happen in Bethal NY (Sullivan County)over a hundred miles from Woodstock. Even the name of the festival is a fraud!!!!!! Furthermore the movie and record ect.are good documentation on how the Woodstock Festival represented and signified the developmental foundation of the moral decay that became the filthy bottomless sewer that currently makes up our society today. What does this all spell out in the end? Mapemaker:Only now as one looks back can one finally begin To comprehend the magnitude of how trash like David Crosby, and Jagger and Richards, Jan Werner ect.help smother and betray the ideals and spirit of the 1960’s.There image glamorized Self -indulgence,egotism,and the hedonistic life which inevitably lead in a self serving direction. Their image and behavior clearly contributed to the decadent cess -pool that our american society has become. These pathetic characters are emblematic of the pig sty life style.. They have proven and shown once and for all, the limitless possibilities of how self indulgence can destroy the ability of becoming a decent human being. They are without a doubt the biggest contributors of why the 1960’s became a decade of failed hopes and ambitions. And what moral message does this all spell out in the end , that Decency and success are only companions in fairy tales.
