I did not know you could add mineral oil to resin like that and it would dry on the resin. I thought it had to soak into the wood, this video has mede me rethink my cherry party platter thanks and awesome job.

Cheese! Great board. Love those little touches that make your work products special and stand out from the masses. On a different note: you seem a bit taller than many folks and it doesn't seem you customized your work surfaces to accommodate your height. Take care of your back - others can adjust to your-sized work surfaces in the less time they spend on them, just as you have done/do on standard issue work tables/machines. Just sayin' 🙂 Love your work. Love your channel. Thanks for all the inspiration.

At any plumbing supply place you can get copper "plugs" by drilling out the ends with a larger bit 1/2 inch in and gluing the ends on it would have made a nice finish accent to the sides.

"This" or is it "Cheese"? You just said "comment "this"" 😋 That board does look really good. To avoid tear out when drilling into wood, I've used a mix or spade bits and forstner bits, but brad points are my favourite. I've also used metal hole saws to start the hole off, but they need to be really sharp! I then finish off with a regular wood bit, which gives a really clean hole. 👍

Did you ever seal the live edges before the pour? What did you use or why didn’t you seal the live edge? Have you ever had a problem with the “joint” between the wood and resin failing if the board is dropped?
@JonnyBuilds4 жыл бұрын
It’s not necessary to seal the edge. The epoxy penetrates and fuzes the wood to the epoxy. The “joint” isn’t going to break or separate.

Cheese! Loved the copper handles and the walnut, but I'm not too sure about that white pearl resin. Might just be my eyes but I think something a little more translucent/colored would have looked more appealing, as that reminds me of a block of polystyrene. That's just my opinion though, and I really appreciate you putting this video up here for us to enjoy - especially as there's not a lot else to do right now!

Jonny, I can’t stop talking about this board to my husband. May I ask how much you would charge for this board and/or how much time you have in it? My husband has a wood shop and I’m pressing him to buy a CNC. We would just be weekend warriors as we are with our laser but I’m trying to understand how much active time goes into a beauty like this and if we were to make a few to sell what price range we should expect to charge. Again, this is really gorgeous and such a smart design. The copper, the epoxy on the ends of the tubing, the white epoxy against the walnut, really elegant detailing. Color me a fan!
