For those watching this to learn, it does not apply to earlier GMT400. I have a 92 K2500 and the dash is built differently and a whole lot more has to be disassembled to get the blower motor out.

Thanks for the video. It helped me replace the blower on my 1998 Chevy Silverado. It had been making a loud squeaking sound when I turned it on and not blowing air... after 10-15 seconds the sound would go away, the blower would begin to spin, and air would flow but slowly. Now with the new blower it makes the interior very cold again... I think my original blower was working at 60-70% when it finally would start spinning. Good as new again.

1st check to make sure ac drain line isn't plugged, then I'd check the windshield for leaks. Run a hose all around seal and watch for drips. If you park on level ground will be easier to pinpoint where its coming from. Lastly would be that somehow water leaking or getting into fresh air intake vent usually located under cowling beneath windshield

@@JonnyDIY Ty for the quick reply. My issue is I had a rodent infestation which blocked up the areas in there in multiple spots. The actual hose leading to the vents as well as I'm willing to guess in that big area you sprayed out. I don't think I'll be able to spray it out without getting stuck so I'm looking at vacuuming it out. I wish they would've put a few openings on it. Maybe round shaped for vacuums to hook to directly to just suck everything out.
@JonnyDIY
@JonnyDIY 11 ай бұрын
@@Umadbro681 bummer they usually get in through the fresh air intake under cowling. Can put metal screening. Also check air filter box. Ive put metal screening over those too
@Umadbro681
@Umadbro681 11 ай бұрын
@@JonnyDIY Ty thats a good idea. I wish they would think of that when designing these things. A couple of suck out holes for vacuums would be great. Or at least an easy open area where I can shove my arm in without having to take out the fan motor. Looks like a night of beer and regret awaits me. May as well just name my truck my ex wife.

The blower motor cover removal seems edited. When he finally pulls it off, it’s in front of the dash. Its not that easy to pull down. Mine has the top tab and seems to have what seems like snaps. I still haven’t got it off. I thought it would be a piece of cake

How do you know if the resistor motor needs replaced or blower motor?
@JonnyDIY
@JonnyDIY 2 жыл бұрын
You can test each individually. Can hook blower motor directly to battery and see if works. If your blower motor is blowing now but only on 1 speed or not all the speeds, most likely its the resistor
