For real, makeup tools are so good for drawing. I use makeup brushes to blend charcoal and graphite. I never thought to use sponges! Think of all the alligators we can make in a minute with these! PS: Thank u for the sponges and the laughs. This video format is awesome 🤘

I love seeing these kinds of videos where a professional artist shares random items they find that work surprisingly well for their craft. I also enjoy doing this myself. I’m a marker artist, but I can’t afford expensive alcohol markers. So I was having to make do with Crayola markers, and for a long time I thought they would never look as good because they’re water based. Then I found a watercolor Aquabrush a professor gifted me, and tried using that as a blender for my markers, and it works way better than I could have expected. Now they’re my preferred medium because they work so well with just adding water

Make-up tools work great with graphites. For thin lines, I use a smudge sponge brush (on a handle) that's used for smudging eye shadows. The sponge is round, so if you want a thin line, use a cuticle trimmer and cut the head at an angle. I cut my Tombow eraser at an angle too. The square Tombow eraser is harder to achieve thin lines, such as highlights in hair. I practice my shading by drawing gaming characters such as Assassin Creed, The Witcher, Elder Scrolls, etc. Their outfits have very fine lines whether it's shading or erasing. Love this video. Bloopers show the fun side of you.

I just started art school in Scotland and my forte is drawing. I have been using cotton wool and makeup sponges for years. Thank you so much for pointing this out because people think I’m weird! I also buy the cheapest ones on Amazon! They have different texture to the egg shaped ones. Have you tried sea sponges? They give a mottled effect. I also use eye makeup applicators (basically tiny sponge on a stick) for hard to reach areas Your work is incredible and I strive to be 10% as good as you 🥰

I use PanPastel sponges, fabulous with any dry pigment. The many size, tool and shapes they provide are great ! Soft make up applicator are also interesting, but maybe a little more tricky as they can also lift the pigment. But for vey subtle things, nothings beats a good brush i think. BTW liked the introduction of humor Jono ahah !
