But I think we should be respectful to the athletes who dedicate their lives and put it on the line for our entertainment. There's a big difference between being excited for Jason Nolf and his win over Burroughs versus some arrogant clown in the crowd yelling at JB, "your career is over!"

Even though I’m a PSU fan, the way they treated Burroughs might be good for college wrestling in that it’ll make folks dislike PSU more. A lot of the high school kids really look up to Burroughs-they look up to him more than they look up to Cael and PSU. Those younger guys seeing PSU disrespecting a legend could cause them to consider other options for college-like Oklahoma State. I’ve been pretty turned off by PSU since the OTT

Grew up right outside State college. Always been a psu fan. The way my fellow neighbors treated this guy was disgusting! Bo Nickel has acted like a douchebag! I will say, hes better than desanto but ive noticed he does the extra stuff in the name of "wrestling hard." But i see dirty wrestling. Or almost dirty wrestling by messenbrink at times. I don’t think Jordan Burroughs is the greatest American wrestler, but I think he’s one of the greatest American wrestlers. I really think he is overdramatizing or being overly sensitive with what happened at Penn State. However, there was just a few fans that made it worse, but I don’t think JB deserved it . Unfortunately, it’s the time we live in. If you look at our politics, it has become vicious…. As a nation, we are divided on everything. Even the Caitlyn Clark saga has become vicious…. The Olympics people were divided and some are vicious to Simone biles or the women’s USA soccer team… we are just a broken family. I agree, JB didn’t deserve that and I respect a man showing his hurt side admitting that he thought he was part of a bigger Wrestling family and my family didn’t treat me like family …. That hurts, but I would tell him to suck it up, unfortunately it’s the sign of our times. I wish him luck, but I don’t feel sorry for him. he is a blessed man and I’ve been blessed to watch him wrestle and to see him grow

I am a PSU fan and respect JB’s accomplishments and can’t think of a better ambassador of the sport. I’m not sure what JB expected at PSU. Should the crowd have sat on their hands and shut up when Nolf won? JB has done the exact same things to opponents that Messenbrink did to him. I am not a fan of that behavior but JB has done it himself. Remember way back when JB flipped Taylor’s legs up in air when they went out of bounds or the blast double into Chance when he was calling for injury time? One, 2 or 5 asswholes in the stands talking stupid to JB doesn’t make the entire fan base bad. The fans were happy for the PSU legend and fan favorite Nolf;s biggest win of career which does not automatically mean those same fans do not have a respect for JB.

Burroughs was the face of USA wrestling for a solid 6-7 years. We had a huge drought in talent during that time. Almost no one was winning at the international level. Wrestling was at risk of being removed from the olympics. The sport had a huge marketing problem. The only popular interviews or matches you saw online were burroughs matches. So yeah he played a big part in building USA wrestling during a huge drought and lack of eyes.

He didn't say he built it. He said he helped build it. Jordan Burroughs garnered a lot of interest for the sport, and he has the most world/Olympic golds out of any USA wrestler to compete. He also was objectively treated poorly at the trials in PSU last April with that clown yelling at him saying, "Your career is over!" along with all of the booing. No one has to like Jordan Burroughs, but many people (including me) feel he is a tremendous role model and he is definitely deserving of the wrestling community's respect.

Penn State fans are gonna be loyal to Penn State wrestlers….. just like Nebraska fans are gonna be loyal to JB over Penn State, Iowa State, Iowa Oklahoma State State…. Extremely high percentage of all fans are going to be for American wrestlers at worlds or Olympics, regardless of where they wrestled their college careers … the Penn State incident occurred before JB was on the team. He was just another wrestler that stood in the way of Penn State wrestlers.
