4:51 He's talking about finding your inbuilt purpose and chasing it, more than anything here. That part can be done by motivating yourself to do the things which really light you up inside. 6:40 I've been one of the guys he's talking about too. 9:25 the moment you drop an insecurity your life becomes easier by the same degree: you're then able to live according to your own desires, rather than bend them around the judgements you believe others have of you. It's healing our own self-judgements that solves it, because our insecurities only tell us what we *think people think, which means it's actually what we secretly think about ourselves. The more time you spend listening to high-level thinkers on a wide range of topics the more it strengthens your own brain - even when you disagree it forces you to come up with a reason why, rather than letting your beliefs run on autopilot, unexamined and undercover. Beliefs determine how you experience everything, so it's good to examine them, and without being confronted with new information you can't know what to believe. That's what makes reaction channels beneficial, it reminds people what it's like to experience new things, and through that allows them to *re-experience things as if through the eyes of a child. It's so important to be able to do that, because kids don't make assumptions about what they experience til they're in it, whereas adults tend to assume everything in the future is going to be like the past.
@FunniesRS2 жыл бұрын
i really like the angle you came at this from, as soon as he started talking you self reflected, you didn't deflect and change subject or use it to boost ego and belittle others, you genuinely looked at yourself and said "am I doing what I need to be doing?" and I think that shows a pretty high level of maturity to have that perspective on it.

as a woman in their early 30s, I teared up when Jordan spoke about getting their life in order with family. Been married and unable to conceive is not easy to deal with as a woman that wants to be a mother. My husband only realized late in life that he wanted kids so it's not affecting him quite the same. I know there's only a short window in a woman's life to do certain things naturally and that makes a lot of life planning difficult, depressing and there's an enzyme correlating to stress which can also prohibit pregnancy. It's OBVIOUS that men's sports get more viewership so of course they get more money. Idk why women have such a hard time grasping what Jordan says.

What this woman is missing (along with a lot of females who consider themselves feminists) is that there are many variables as to why there is a pay gap in genders. A few people (not many but they're there) will unfortunately have a gut reaction to this and demand you stop watching, threaten to unsubscribe, try to gaslight you by throwing around all sorts of baseless accusations. It'll be something you probably haven't experienced before, but I implore you to keep watching if you find anything at all interesting or thoughtful about what Dr. Peterson talks about. I used to be extremely far-left and a militant athiest (as I think is the default position for most raised primarily by media and schools) but over many years I've made the journey to the right and discovered the importance and depth of religion. This journey started far before I ever heard of Dr. Peterson, but many of his ideas have had a very transformative and meaningful impact on me. This man has so much experience helping individual people find the strength they never knew they had. He's not trying to trick you into believing he has all the answers. In fact, one of the things I love most about him is that he will often become silent after being asked a question. He actually thinks things through when asked something difficult, instead of simply trying to 'sound right' or trying to 'score points'. Edit: I'd also like to add, since this seems to be one of the more popular 'arguments' his detractors are using in your comment section, yes he was forced to battle addiction with extreme pain-killers. They were prescribed by doctors who told him he would not get addicted, and they were prescribed during a time of immense hardship for him and his family. His wife was diagnosed with terminal illness, he was dealing with ideologues attacking and defaming him, and his daughter has suffered with a life-long undiagnosed ailment as well. And, even with all of this, he didn't just dive into depression and drugs like most of us would (and I have) but he still tried to fight and stop this, all while continuing to try and help others. What's amazing is that it's his continuing to help others while he was himself going through tough times is the very thing all these commenters are pointing out as some fatal flaw of his character. A man, losing the love of his life, stuck with an addiction he didn't cause or contribute to, still trying to listen to strangers' problems and trying to help them move on in life and grow stronger. This is what they're all pointing to as a major failure and a reason to never listen to a word this man says. I think it says a lot more about them than him. But that's just my opinion.

And I'll tell you now, it's because I didn't know a thing about history and because I had a big heart. Those two are probably the key factors for most kids and teens who consider themselves leftists. I still have a big heart but I have a better idea of how things actually get better in the real world. Smaller government is probably number one on that list.

Sure he's helping individuals but he's clearly ignoring the bias that exists in society. That women have wombs, and are the only beings that bare men children. They can't be top of the game when they only have that small opportunity in their life to have children, which is usually the same time you start becoming an adult, the same time men seem to be able to knuckle down, get to work for 80-90 hours a week and have "ambition", all for what, money? Clout? Women are not submissive beings, they have been held down by religious and societal beliefs.
@smexijebus2 жыл бұрын
@@Camwin Women are not a monolith, plenty of women have made it to the 'top of the game'. Your view of the world is entirely too collectivist. Most men, by the way, never make it to the 'top of the game' either. Far more men than women are homeless, below the poverty line, victims of crime, victims of police brutality, work fatalities, war fatalities, and on and on. Stop looking at life like a buffet where you get to pick and choose. Yes women in general have many things 'worse' than men, and they also have a great many things much 'better' than men. That you ignore all the men at the bottom and only look at the ones at the top is a horrible way to look at the world. Especially comparing the women at the bottom to the men at the top (and ignoring the women at the top and the men at the bottom). Helping the individual is the only way to create real lasting change that doesn't necessitate authoritarian and tyrannical over-reach. The only real other alternative is that everyone becomes equally poor and helpless while the government gets rich and powerful. There's never been any other way in history.

Jordan Peterson is a voice that many boys and men need to hear because they haven't any or a good father figures in their life, and he is a psychologist that wants to help as many people as possible but ultimately society as a whole. Expect to get some comments, although they will be from a small minority, that will try to get you to stop watching his videos. Don't listen to them!

After I saw your conversation with yourself between 5:11 - 5:37 I subscribed... this is my first reaction channel subscription. By the way... around minute 9 he says competent, not confident. Although you could argue that with competence comes confidence the opposite is not always true... confidence doesn't always come with competence.

yo holy fuck man. you are amazing my dude, just off the first 7 minutes alone. Most people when they watch videos like this will say things along the lines of "yeah men really do need to grow up", completely disregarding that they themselves could learn a thing or two about what he's saying, and that jordan may in fact be talking to you! But you didnt do that. You openly admitted your feelings of your individual problems that your going through and the lack of responsibility you might be taking in your own life. And then you uploaded it on KZbin for all of us to see. You my friend are an incredible person and i cant thank you enough for being genuine and transparent for us. Speaks volumes of who you are as a person and who you will be in the future. Cheers man!

I highly recommend you reading his 12 rules for life book. It could be considered cliche to even say that by looking like a fan boy. but based on the way you reacted to him, I think its precisely what you need to help with the anxiety you're having about yourself and your place in the world.

Well, you jumped into politics head first! And while i think it's great that you are exploring this and these kinds of issues, i want to urge caution. Do as much research as possible on these issues on your own. Read. Don't simply take anyone's word for anything. Remember bias exists. Consider the source. Remember your own experience. Remember the experiences of your elders. I might suggest asking the strongest woman you know and the strongest man you know to watch this in order to help you understand where this conversation comes from and where it is going from their point of view. I don't want to see you be misled in either direction by anyone. Keep learning and watching people closely. 💙✌

The reason male athletes earn more is that more people pay to go watch their games in stadium tv or ppv, so tv networks etc can pay them more. Same reason women who are models or only fans make a lot more, because more people go pay to see it.

I'm single like you Leo & I work two jobs not because I need to but because I want to. I have a lot of extra money to help fund the therapy, yoga, meditation, healthy foods, stock investments to leave my daughter & to be a dad who has the intelligence to help mold a proper female for this world. I'm not heavily educated by the schooling system, college included. But I do have a massive interest in multiple studies that I partake in when I gets any amount of free time. I don't need a partner (female) to make me feel like a man. I need to know I'm a mentally happy & confident man internally before I engage in any type of dating or relationships (outside of the father-daughter relationship I have atm). Being a broken human (male/female) that brings no help to in any form to a relationship is a waste of lives & most importantly time.

LEO, While I loved this reaction, you need to be aware that the political space on YT can be pretty ugly. It can be especially risky because channels can get deleted for violations of rules about "bullying" and "hate speech" that shift in meaning so often you don't even know what you can say. I'm not saying you shouldn't continue doing videos like these; I would love to see them, but you should be aware there is risk, and I don't want you to get blindsided. FYI: Patreon is especially ban happy, Locals or Rumble seem to be more chill.

This is what feminism boils down to: having the ability to do what you want. You want to be a CEO? AWESOME You want to be a stay at home mom? I LOVE THIS FOR YOU Memories are short - women in the US couldn't open a bank account by themselves until the 1960s - and the UK didn't allow it until 1975. At the core, it's about not going back.
