It's important to know both sides, even if we choose one to agree with. I think that is the missing element that leads to all this hateful rhetoric over politics. It's harder to hate someone, when you understand their view. Also, the black community hamstrings their own issues, when they only vote one direction. Make these corrupt political parties compete for the vote. If you give it away free, just like other things, it's not worth anything.

You can't compare Dr. Sowell to the likes of Al Sharpton and others. You won't see Dr. Sowell run up to the microphone at any protest, rally, march, etc. He's a professor. A historian. An economist. And he's not making money off the struggles of the black community. In other words, he's no grifter.

Music IS part of culture. Think about how many people around the world know who Elvis is. Just like movies and style is part of culture. Think about how much those music and movies have influenced the knowledge of what America is like to people who don't live here. Think about how many people want to dress and act like Americans, speak like them. The same is true for Americans that want to speak and act like the rappers they hear in songs and watch in media. That is called the spread of cultural influence.

@Bancheis
@Bancheis Жыл бұрын
@@Reasonablewater27 I am not claiming that all rap is toxic. Simply claiming that rap, like all forms of media, is responsible for the spread of cultural influence and ideals. There are rap songs I actually like, like Tupac - Changes. It's a good song and brings forth some problems in society to the forefront of people's minds. However the majority of rap, and even other genres like death metal and screamo, often push a negative influence on youth that they wish to emulate. If music is made with hatred, anger, or violence in mind, it will translate to the culture that consumes it. While Tupac rapped about similar subjects, he was calling for change and wanted a better future for people. That also translates to the culture of people who consume it.

Bein’ bo’n po’ m’self, and a Southern Caucasoid, Dr. Sowell is speaking the truth. Nothing in the world riled my Grandmother up more than hearing us youngsters using Redneck Slang and acting tough. She’d put us in our place real quick by saying, “Y’all Li’l Shits would run and hide if you ever met a Real American, like ran the country when I was young. Those men didn’t talk like Bumpkins and act like Hoodlums because they knew where their grandfathers came from, and they’d never disgrace their names by pretending like their families never even left.”

Always stayed employed too. I was held up at gun point twice. Both times by black men, at the corner mini-mart. I sympathize with the heavy loss of innocent lives within the black community. I believe some generations will have a hard time leaving the gangster rap/gun violence communities. And I believe it is the newest generations of the dark skinned folks that need this type of education, inside their own communities. Well done Leo.

Thomas Sowell has it exactly right. Poverty has been the norm throughout human history. The reason some groups of people face it and overcome it is because they equip themselves with skills that are in demand and stay away from counterproductive ideas like Marxism/communism/socialism. Immigrate groups like the Chinese can move into any impoverished country and within a generation overcome poverty. Yet other groups all over the world engage in counterproductive habits like victimhood, Marxism, feminism and get left behind. There are tons of examples of this all over the world and across many of not all ethnicities. If your parents and grandparents and great grandparents never got out of poverty then repeating what they did wont work for you either. But if you have real tangible skills, a great work ethic and good morals even when people dislike you they will still pay you because they aren’t dumb.

In the 1960s, around 60 % of black people were married. Closer to 70 percent for whites. Get your hands out my pocket! Bang, bang, bang. Malcolm and Martin are dead. Fast forward from then to now. The marriage rate percentages are in the 20s and 30s nowadays. We ain't slaves yet, but man, who amongst us is standing up? The few. Manhood and all if it's glorious toxic masculinity need to be our American Revolution. America needs manhood to return. It's Easter, and in this country if you don't believe in Jesus, you ought admire Him, like any religion that lives and practices peace-so in honor of our past leaders like Martin and Malcolm preached, lets, in the name of the Holy Father, return manhood to the foundation of the United States of America. But this time we come strapped with our lessons from the past and a complete reverence for chivalry. Amen. "Chain of Love," by Clay Walker. Let the baby boom begin y'all.

I think they are cheering on affirmation kowing it will lead to the sterilization Trans children...either they want to use eugenics to remove this condition from the gene pool or they are just reducing the population at large as 1 in 5 ypuths identify as trans...logically if we "affirm" this condition with drugs/hormones and surgery we are removing 1/5th of our procreating population.🤔

The issue of not being required to have a CCW (open carry) is a good thing. 1. It's in accordance with our 2nd Amendment Right (as opposed to the over abundance of unconstitutional gun laws we have). 2. Stats have proven, over and over again, an armed society is a polite society. All of this crazy gun crime didn't start until the passage of numerous unconstitutional gun laws. The issue of single parent homes, was born of Democrats selling welfare to blacks to get them back on the "plantation". Black women were told, we're going to create welfare, but you'll only qualify if the man isn't in the home. Democrats created a way to get blacks to volunteer to enslave themselves. It's shameful.

Patrick; I was in a gifted and talented enrichment program in High School with the best educators in area. I was not taught "the real" grit of history (rather than broad touches) till my university levels. Just goes to show our base schooling is somewhat poor. It also shows that the endgame for those education levels is not to produce scholars but good 8-hour men/women/et all. Educate yourself. The material is out there (RIGHT HERE)!!! Often free or for a small fee for certain book depositories. Cheaper than college/University and the same material. Arm your mind.

When I was crowing up, in the south, I was friends with a black kid my age. His parents were from Ohio and moved south for work (hospital administration I think). Both parents were well spoken, which was an oddity for blacks in my area. I remember my friends mother chastising him every time he used slang or improper word pronunciation. I made me self conscience when around his parents. Their proper English made me feel kind of dumb. But I will tell you that my friend grew up and went to college and got a business degree and has had a pretty decent life. The one thing that I remember about this family is how isolated they were. To the white southerners, they were considered "uppity" or trying to be better than everyone else, and the black southerners accused them of trying to be too white. It was a not win situation for them, socially.

It's great that you are expanding and looking to grow and learn. However, I truly hope that in your journey, you take pride in being Black and don't let anything or anyone allow you to feel ashamed of who you are. Getting out of your town and traveling, meeting different people (offline) will bring added value to your growth and understanding. Read and allow videos like this to open up your mind to different ideologies, and go deeper to do the research yourself. Black culture is not only what is described in the clips you watched in this video. We are complex, diverse, and marvelous. I grew up in Chicago and most of my family is from the North, with maybe a few elders from Kentucky but no further south than that (as far as I know). I was surrounded by Black scholars, professionals, artists but also had family that lived in the projects. I went to the #1 magnet high school in the city (Michelle Obama's alma mater), then I attended a predominately white private university in the middle of Illinois and have been living in NYC (Harlem to be exact) for almost 18 years, and work in tech for a large media company. My experiences are vast! Oh the stories I could tell! With that said, I am certain that my experiences are wildly different from yours but I am certain if you continue to open yourself up to learn about others and our history, you will develop rich and unforgettable experiences that will make you proud of who you are and eager to learn more. My point is, we are all not poor, uneducated, lazy, rappers and athletes. Not all of us hear gunshots fired daily. We are so much more than that. Those kinds of people and situations do exist in our culture but they exist in other cultures as well. I think that was the overall point Thomas Sowell was trying to make but the way the soundbites are clipped, it seems whoever put them together are trying to tell a different, negative story that isn't exactly accurate. Again, please take the time to research deeper and read, read, read!!! Leverage relationships you might have with older folks around you to get history straight from those that have lived through it. I think you had it right when you said Sowell is doing the same thing that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have done...like them, he has an agenda (selling his books and booking speaking engagements). Look who his audience is and ask yourself why.

Thomas Sowell is a genius. He is one of the leading economists and minds of the 20th and 21st century. It’s a shame that he isn’t taught in schools because the school boards are against his type of thinking. I live just south of San Francisco, but used to live in West Oakland. A predominantly black area of Oakland. I used to hear gunshots almost everyday there. Dog Town and Ghost Town they are called. Both Blood territories. I’d drive through and see police taped off streets with chalk outlines on the ground. I thought this something done only in cop movies from the 80s and stuff before moving there in 2011. It really happens that much, that the police CSI/Coroners are busy at other crime scenes that the police just have to chalk the body outline, and remove it themselves so others wouldn’t see it and the body won’t decompose so much. It’s a real shame and very sad that this still exists in many black communities around the country. A holding onto a culture that is perverse, immoral, and destructive. Luckily, many black men and women are waking up to this fact and I saw, and continue to see, folks moving away from this. Not even physically, but mentally too. One of my best friends lived in what is called the Acorns, or Acorn Projects. Recently remodeled, but still just as dangerous. He attended college with me from 2011 to 2015. He’s still doing well and has since moved to a better neighborhood elsewhere in the Bay Area, earning a very good living and starting a family. He used to be a Blood gang member, but fortunately saw the error of his ways. He didn’t do it because of Thomas Sowell, but I bet you if more young black boys were exposed to such a teaching, they wouldn’t end up joining a gang and killing each other over petty things that are worthless compared to a life. Thought for words.

Thomas Sowell has not contributed any studies or research of worth in the advancement of Economics as a science. Thomas Sowell has essentially articulated narratives in polemical sophistry. Another great reaction, Leo. Just for some clarification on one of the issues. Yes it's true some states have gotten rid of the requirement to buy a carry permit to carry guns. That only means someone can carry a gun on him without needing to get that carry permit first. In many states guns are still required to be hidden from plain sight even with a permit (always check your state and local laws). However, shooting someone who isn't actively trying to kill you or one of your loved ones first is still illegal in ALL states no matter the status of carry permit requirements. Guns require an FBI background check each and every time buyers buy them from sales associates at gun shops or from official vendors at gun shows. Sometimes the background system can fail. It can happen if certain details about a person's record are not shared with the FBI database (prior arrests, dishonorable discharge from the military, known drug abuse, domestic abuse or mental problems etc). A background check will not find any red flags to stop a gun purchase with someone who has never committed an offense. The only time background checks won't always apply is during a private person to private person sale. Always be sure to check your local and state laws because that's not the case in ALL states. Some areas may require an official firearms dealer be involved in the sale.

Amazing you getting into Thomas Sowell buddy! I used to have a very negative mindset in my early 20s and if things didn't always go my way I'd find a way to blame others for why it didnt work out. It took time but after awhile as I slowly stopped that kind of thinking things really got better in life. Some of Thomas Sowells books I came across I won't lie really changed my perspective on life and personal responsibility.

Congratulations on making that most important step to free your mind and soul from the indoctrination and brainwashing that blatz americans have been receiving for HUNDREDS of years. Who has been brainwashing them? It has NOT been dwight/European people. It has been super wealthy "Gee-yews"! They have been instilling a "victimhood" mindset into blatz for over 100 years now whereby almost ALL blatz automatically blame dwights for any perceived injustices that are actually the fault of the individuals' OWN FAULTS AND BAD CHOICES. Personal responsibility is a HUGE key to blatz people advancing beyond third-world mindsets and rationales. At the 1:30 mark, Mr. Video asks "who is going to help us?" Nobody. Nobody SHOULD help you. You MUST learn to HELP YOURSELVES. Learn what the Gee-yews have historically done to blatz Americans, and what they have brainwashed you with, then decide how you will break FREE from it and REPAIR the community! BTW, the sudden increases of blatz Americans gaining HUGE advancement and successes in sports, entertainment, music, politics, and liberal social sciences in the past 80 years is, with some exceptions, NOT by any natural occurrences. It is by the guiding force of the Gee-yews, and the power and control that they wield over ALL OF US non-Gee-yews! They have written plans to assist blatz into increasing positions of power that dates as far back as at least 1912! In this 1912 writing, they even include their plans to get blatz men to PREFER to sexually partner with dwight women! It somehow helps the Gee-yews to achieve THEIR goals. Hmmmmmmmmm....

The reason he said the word "liberal" has been misused is because the word derived from what is now refereed to as "classical liberalism" and people defined as liberals nowadays (in the US, at least) go for ideologies that fall way far from 'classical liberals' such as John Locke or Montesquieu.

To the best of my knowledge he never participated in either the Mass Black rights movement, any kind of Marxist Party or the Labor movement. They like to parade him around as proof that Marx is wrong because after all American Capitalism never faced the type of crisis European capitalism has. Capitalism works through corruption legal and illegal. The capitalist seek to maximize profit above all else. The only difference between the two parties in the United States is over how much regulation of greed capitalism needs. The British Labour Party came out of the General Strike with the liberals all but disappearing into the Conservative Party. Then Tony Blair created "New Labour" by removing the Trade Union leadership. Declaring you run the unions and we will run the government. The Democrats originate from the Southern slave and landowners. Where as the Republicans arose just before the civil war as the Party of Northern Industrialists. We've never had a mass labor, socialist or communist party. Most of the right Social Democrats vote for Democratic Liberals and the Stalinist began the same policy with the Popular Front era in Europe. The Trotskyist Communist were advised by Trotsky in Mexico. Our group in the US survived both the camps of Hitler and Stalin only our leaders were imprisoned for a short time in the US while the Stalinist conducted open strike breaking for the war effort. With the end of the war the Stalinist announced end of the class struggle, permanent victory of the Soviet Union. and talked openly about shaking the monopolists hands. Churchill announced the begining of the cold war with the Iron Curtain Speech at the University of Missouri while Truman looked on. The Stalinist would see themselves doing 5 year stretches in the Federal Pen instead of shaking hands.

Music today is not music. I grew up in the 60's-70's and we had great music. The music was about love and it was from all race. We all got along and didn't even think about harming anybody. I was in school when they did away with segregation and we got along and respected one another. Of course there were those who wanted to cause trouble but they were dealt with fairly because there were rules and if you wanted to be different and cause trouble you don't get to stay in school because that was a privilege to get a education and we knew when we got home. Our parents took care of the problem and we got our ass whooped, it was no time out. Kids now days need there ass whooped at home and the government should stay out of the home.

It never stopped me from making friends but I did notice other kids that had a hard time with it because they didn’t know how to respond. I grew up in south Texas, but I was never called a "redneck", clearly bc I wasn't one, by true definition. I think it is even MORE defined right now than ever! Even among whites, we can see a HUGE difference between blacks and the "ghetto sub-culture blacks", who CLEARLY have a hate of white people, and simply won't, or can't come out of that culture. And, they blame ALL their misfortunes on whites, even tho THEY are the main cause themselves!
