It may seem that way, but almost there is unbelief just the same. In fact, to gain such a vast knowledge of Scripture as Jordan has, while rejecting the Savior in his death for sins and resurrection, is more dangerous than not knowing the truth at all.

My youth group was also silly. I never thought much of it until we got a new youth pastor one year who sat us down and played us clips of the suffering of Christians he had seen during his missions around the world. The violence, the hunger, the sickness, the hatred. It was horrifying. But he also showed us the tremendous faith and community of these suffering people. He ended this sit down by saying that this world is not a game, it’s a battleground against the forces of evil and telling us to act like it. To grow up, because if we didn’t, we would be ripe fruit for Lucifer. A very chilling, yet empowering talk. And what did my church do? They disciplined him for, “scaring the children.” We weren’t children, we were young adults, and we heard what we needed to hear.

@@parrotshootist3004 I’ve also thought about how modernity has prolonged childhood. In Roman times, a 15 year old could be an officer in the military and lead grown men into battle. And they often did. In fact, the average age of the Roman Empire was 28. One of the great powers of history and it was basically run by what we modern folk would consider to just be adolescents. Not to mention Alexander the Great, who was conquering most of Asia only in his mid to late 20s.

That youth ‘pastor’ was a false convert. No truly saved by the atoning death of Christ & heart changed by the indwelling Holy Spirit person would ever make any excuse for sin. The Bible is very clear - a changed heart reveals itself in a holy life. Also - Biblical teaching makes no allowance for ‘youth Pastor’. It is a carnal invention of man. So called YP’s are normally much younger than the biblical model which is 40 as in Paul to Timothy & 40 is considered to be the absolute minimum age for life experience with people & maturity in Christ, as Paul the Apostle states also, do not allow an immature man into leadership. YP’s are generally found in Pentecostal assemblies which themselves have not understood biblical teaching & the majority if not all in the assembly are not living holy lives.

This attitude "no matter what we teach - or don't teach - it's better to have people in church than not" is widespread. It is utter nonsense. My former pastor once said, "many people sitting in church pews have gotten just enough of a dose of Christianity to immunize them against the real thing". He was right. Jesus isn't looking for "homies" or admirers; he's looking for followers.

Pastors & elders in so called churches today engage in zero evangelism. Even though they attend churches that have the historical pattern of adult Gospel witness. I agree. I became a Christian as a young adult, but I had went to several "youth group" social events in my school years when friend would insist/invite. Then as a young mother I volunteered at local churches and by the time my oldest kid was 7 I said "It's better for my kids to grow up un-churched than to believe that This is God's Church". Youth groups were not moral places, nor did it seem like they were striving to be. They were cheap food, poor supervision, and cheap entertainment for kids that made free childcare options for parents. A little bit of a cheesy sermon, and some 1st graders worksheet was as intense as it got. They wanted to keep numbers of attendees high to keep their salary as youth misters. If you really disciple people then you'll have less people and your job will be a volunteer/unpaid position.

I am a pastor in a Protestant church. I was told to be seeker sensitive, meet felt needs, and preach sermons on how to build the church organization. I said no. All I do is preach the Word of God (the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament) and pray, and while we have very few young people, because we are not hip enough for their parents, our congregation is spiritually sound on the fundamentals of saving faith. Apart from the Word of God, the false beliefs of man lead to death.

Rarely stepped in and out of nondenominational churches for a decade. If not for God giving me such a strong love for Jesus, I would have stopped going to church altogether. Started going to a Baptist church at the beginning of this year, and after the first service I was nearly in tears. I took my wife, and she got saved a month later. Been going every Sunday and Wednesday since. They have small group classes before the Sunday service, which are wonderful, and it's been a tremendous joy learning all the old hymns (such a breath of fresh after being peppered with all of the repetitive CCM). Now I know what a spirit-filled church looks like, and what to look for if my wife and I ever move, and we need to find a new church. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." - Galatians 5:22-23 (Such visible fruits coupled with lots of prayer, constant and clear preaching on the gospel, and a passion to fulfill the Great Commission - those are the churches we should be attending, and guiding others towards.)

About 10-12 years ago I read a book, "Why Men Hate Going to Church." Ever since the feminist movement took over the church, men have been feminized. The songs are feminized. What ever happened to songs like, "A MIghty Fortress is Our God," "Onward Christian Soldiers?" (Oops, sorry, you can't sing about war in a church! Satan loves it when we downplay that we ARE in a war, a spiritual life-or-death war.) The book mentioned the popularity of the Promised Keepers because it emphasized masculinity. 50,000 men in a church service together! The "Top Gun" movies are popular because they are not afraid to promote a man being macho. I am blessed because the church I go to has a Tuesday night MEN's Bible with over 350 MEN present. And we are taught to be real men. This is, I think, the third video I have seen by Todd Friel showing what is going on in our churches today. Keep it up, Todd!

Virtue and character are not popular in churches today. It's not just young men who are being treated like children in our churches. Adult men are not being challenged and discipled to be mature followers of Christ. As long as they follow along with their wives and do their "ministries", i.e., ushering and parking lot duty, then it's fine with most pastors. They are afraid of men actually growing up or challenging them ( the pastors ) intellectually. Men in churches are expected to know their place, which isn't being men at all. A recent church I visited had a guest speaker. He testified that his step father treated him so bad and that he held resentment towards him for years. I was thinking to myself the whole time "white man bad! I get it but, where was your mother during all this terrible abuse? And why does she get a pass?" My point is that it is culturally acceptable to bash men. When a woman leaves her husband, all she has to say is that he was abusive and the church dumps the man like a ton of bricks. Another reason why men young and old are leaving the church.

Yes, I agree with you. There was feminism in the Garden, but Adam's transgression was that he went along with Eve. She wanted to raise herself above Adam, and he allowed it. That is what is going on today. The body wants to be over the head, and men are allowing it. Men and women clearly have different roles, but one can not live without the other. If you cut off the head or the body, both perish.

I grew up with an amazing youth group and church that taught the bread and butter of Scripture. Sermons actually taught something new every week, youth group had fun games but also got serious when it was time for Bible study and worship. Seeing how so many churches have sunk so low it it makes me sad. I also pity them since Scripture has some severe warnings for false teachers and those that lead the body of Christ astray 😓

The Old Testament is in wide circulation, and the books of the New Testament is already circulating among the early churches. 3. Of course they did. Jesus came to fulfil law on our behalf, so that those who places faith in Him will be counted righteous (Matt 5:17-18; Rom 10:4). Through Christ, the disciples understood the fulfilment of Old Testament scripture, and recognized the inspiration of Old Testament and contemporary writings of fellow apostles (2Tim 3:16-17; 2Pet 1:19-21; 3:14-16) "Let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. When the baby boomers experienced the "cultural" revolution" of the 60's the churches response of "we've always done it this way" and "because we say so" now shut up and get a hair cut was the beginning of the end of relevance of the church in our society. Evangelicalism went off the rails long ago. While I identify with the historic definition of Evangelical, I no longer identify with Evangelicalism. We need to return to confessional Protestantism. The church growth movement has growth buildings but not saints. As long as it continues to exist to appeal to unbelievers it will continue to profane worship, preach a confused gospel, rarely and inappropriately administer the sacraments, and ignore church discipline. As it seeks to influence and have acceptance among the culture it will increasingly mimic the culture. Frankly we need a Reformation to bring light out of darkness.

@@michaelibach9063 Martin Luther should rightly be credited with much of the blessed movement that we rightly deem “post tenebras lux.” He was a catalyst for what had been developing for at least a century. In many ways it was the concurrent development of Gutenberg’s printing press that was used by God to free the gospel from bondage. It led to a dramatic increase in literacy rates throughout Europe and enabled the common believer to hold God’s Word in his hands. The work of Wycliffe and others in translating the Vulgate into the modern languages of Europe must be given much credit. Many do not realize that one of Luther’s most significant works was translating the Bible into German, while he was hiding from Rome’s persecution. The two centuries that followed Luther’s 95 Theses produced an amazing treasure of Reformed scholarship that has never been eclipsed. Rather than the Protestants going off the rails, they were used to put the gospel train back onto the tracks.

Im from a youth group from Brazil and I got to say that maybe this is an american problem or a problem of your local church. In my church there are sermons at saturdays only for us and we created small groups to discuss the sermons of saturday and sunday, were we discuss the bible and the sermons that have been teached. My youth group teached me how is important to christians to be together and how it is more easy when we have cristian friends to help in your daily struggles. Im a protestant for more than 10 years, but just now Im learning some aspects of my own faith that i didnt know. Im very thankfull to God for puting those people in my life. Yes, we're always hanging out and sometimes we play games, but were also always discussing the bible and also the dangers of the liberal left and how we have to open our eyes to the dangers in the world. If your local youth group is all games and fun, maybe thats a sign for you to stop complaining about your local church and in fact do something for the youngs soul and the Kingdom of God. Remember: christianity is a religion made of ACTION, do something! If you only complan and do nothing about it, mybe youre not so different from those people from the youth group that are all fun and games. Complaining isnt a christian thing. DO something for your local church, talk to your pastor, help those young people and teach them about the bible and make them see that its okay do play games and all but that christianity isnt about that... DO something.

I have four daughters here in Southern California! You can imagine the type of man my daughters meet! No sense of responsibility towards to the future! No character building habits! No career. No money in the bank. And I’m talking about men in their 30s! It is absolutely pathetic out here! That’s my daughters situation! As a mom I can’t find a church that isn’t like going to a rock concert!

If you want to improve, how would you expect to do it without an improvement plan? And how would you expect to improve without diligently following that improvement plan? If you have an improvement plan and you diligently follow it, you just know you’re eventually going to win.

I volunteer as a youth small group leader for middle and high schoolers and its tough. I honestly belive my Church does a fantastic job with the ministry, but there is so much that the ministry has to accomplish. When I think about it, our youth meetings need to: invite non believers and present them the gospel, demonstrate proper docterine, worship and religious practices to young believer, preach a message, walk with the kids through life, encourage them to walk daily with Christ, and sometimes just be a legitimate safe space for a kid to hang out and destress from a legitimately stressful life. I believe we should be calling them to more, and to step into a calling, but its alot to juggle for just one day a week for 3 hours. Its mainly up to the parents to build that young discipile.

Yes. It starts at home. I think the problem is parents not discipling their children cuz they never sought to be discipled themselves

I grew up in COGIC and I have never seen anything like this done in youth group or vacation Bible school. We learned about scripture and had prayer and testimony. If there were games they were quiz games like Jeopardy about the Bible. There was also music ministry. This is my first time hearing about all this gross out weirdness.

The only Church left that can be taken seriously is the Orthodox. Their seriousness and their focus on mercy and salvation are refreshing. The Byzantine Chants create an atmosphere conducive to pondering the mysteries and grasping the awe-inducing might of God.

Our Youth group played normal games but we also always had a focus on the bible pursued God in prayer and did bible studies. The non Christians who we invited would sometimes sit these out but we invited these friends. All the youth turned up at the mid week prayer meeting and God grew the church. The midweek prayer meeting became more important than the church services. It's where we got down to business and invited God to change us. Now i go to a church that doesn't even have a prayer meeting. They preach the same sermon Sunday morning and night and this has effectively divided the church. Nobody really desires to hear the same message twice a day so the church is divided. The minister recently wanted to unify the church services attendee's and doesn't even realise that he himself and the leadership are the ones to blame for causing the great divide in the first place. They think they are trying to solve some problem for the betterment of the church but they created this in the first place. So now their mission is to solve this non mixing between services without even realising they created it. Bizarre! And tragic.

Here's the deal. The world has offered young men little to no hope. They say you are evil because of your identity. But the gospel says you have hope because of identity in Christ regardless of gender, race, etc. This is what is missing in Peterson's message and understanding of Christianity. He needs a better grip on why the gospel is good news and in this case good news for young men. Jordan Peterson is a pragmatist. He sees the church as helpful for the church in a way that is practical but it isn't gospel. What does calling men to be better men look like? It looks an awful lot like Jesus. We need to be calling people to daily cross bearing and conformity to Christ.

"Who cares what you believe?" The Church does. That's why so many have walked away from it. A number of those who walked away believe they were actually driven away: When they asked questions and got non-answers or even hostility in return. When the Church made the egregious mistake of forcing people to choose between science and the Bible. When they wanted more, perhaps demanded more, for their faith, and were ignored or condemned as provocateurs or silly or selfish. The Church, at least in the West, has brought its decline on itself.

Pray, rather, for the fallen church! Pray that the young men who hear Peterson's message will stop settling for less, and go look for mature churches and pastors who do all the things Peterson is talking about. Also, to encourage young Pastors to be mature themselves and teach the word. God is using Jordan Peterson right now to speak to the church and warn them. Do NOT ignore this when it happens. God is obviously moving here.

Satan has entered our churches. They've literally sold their souls in favor of demographic appeasement. In the past, I loved the soothing feeling of worship. Sermons that made the bible useable in daily life stay with me to this day.

Right now youth fellowship gives me a space where I can have fun playing games and doing goofy activities with other people and really get to enjoy myself in a social setting. I don't get to do that kind of thing outside of church and I haven't spent time with the one friend group I am part of for a while. I spend a lot of time alone in my room and can get down and depressed a lot, just doing walks and the occasional chess game and some interaction with housemates isn't cutting it. In YF I leave having actually enjoyed myself and other people's company, like I felt after army cadets and after a mental health programme I used to go to. Not gross out games though. Fun definately has a place in youth stuff. We do do Bible stuff too. Lonely youth need somewhere they can connect with people and actually enjoy themselves. Lonely young adults need that too, and as a young adult it is very difficult to find that. The church definately has a place providing that.

There's a movement that's happening in Brazil. The churches started to be filled of younger people in the last few years, and most of them are looking the most traditional masses that avoid modernism. I really think there's a huge influence of professor Olavo de Carvalho, that was also a polemist like Jordan Peterson, but with a informally sarcastic sense o humor, and what Jordan is saying meets with what Olavo has said before. What I understand to be the duty of the Church, priests and pastors is the Salvation of souls, not the salvation of the planet or social justice.

@@luisaymerich9675 Christians have Christ as their ultimate head. The church is merely the body of Christ. It's a church w/out walls, as the bible says. There are many members of the body, and we are admonished not to look down on each other and to see all the parts as important as the other. That is not what I see the body of Christ doing, but it is our high calling. God bless.
