Peterson speaks eloquently about the importance of honest speech and accepting responsibility. Unless the topic is economic externalities. Then, he seems to just shrug and declare it a difficult problem. He shows no interest in the question of how we might account for externalities in an efficient and fair way. We could charge fees to industries proportional to extraction of resources, emission of pollutants or destruction of wildlife habitat, then share fee proceeds to all people. Honest prices would promote sustainability. Sharing (a monetary representation of) natural wealth to all people would end abject poverty and compensate for the price increases that would result when pollution fees, etc., are imposed. Random polls could show when fees are high enough--when most people say that impacts of this or that kind are not excessive. The shared right of the people to set limits to humans' impacts on the environment would be embodied in practice.

🌸🙏🏻 While you're still upright not balance tipped. Lacking only humanities symphony... At one point you'd have to ponder...Or Maybe I'm over board a bit. Still? Imagine a world where everything used and built is made of plastics and silicon chips by automated A.I. Manufacturing plants. Take that out 200 years. What use is a human anymore They can't build anything from scratch earth that's acceptable? What do children learn? Do they dream of being show biz stars and sports celebrities? What contribution can they dream of being about that anyone will want or is common use? Everything will come from up top. And everyone else will be below it. There's no other direction it can go. Except to wander around the cosmos looking for other places to live under technology. It seems no one gets it up front anymore. To make a proactive difference. And our children think we are looking out for them with will of the worlds highest remedies ever imagined ? Ha. look what we argue about etching into them or etching them out altogether while still at the batter box. Or throw all this out the window. We'd rather argue about temporary employees that ticket our fancy's. Thinking the world's backdrop is warm apple pie? Or shame for my thoughts going there? I don't know. I'm asking. Drawn back far enough to see and not an inch less. I 'm asking. 🫐
