If disagreeing with you, on any point, is the definition of transphobia, then I cannot help but be one. because I care more about the objective truth which we all have to share, than I do about you as one selfish individual. You can tell someone doesn't understand how the Supreme Court makes decisions when they say "why not just get the best person for the job". The whole point is that each individual justice enters with personal beliefs and cultural inclinations that have more impact on their decisions than their ability to follow and mold stare decisis, relative to other candidates' abilities. It's a battle for representation of Americans as much as the much simpler issue of whether or not the justice is fully competent to understand the technical part of making rulings.
@Bergerac82
@Bergerac82 Ай бұрын
But that’s a problematic way of loading the court, and the court is being problematically politicized. They aren’t there to be representatives of Americans. They are there to be defenders of the Constitution. Their ability to defend the Constitution with integrity and fidelity is the only important quality they need. If they were ALL African American women, that would be just fine, so long as they did the job.
@Steve-cd9ul

@@Bergerac82 I think you see it like Peterson does, which won't allow you to make accurate projections. If you see the Constitution has having some obvious bits that everyone will agree with, and then grey areas, where politicians intentionally choose justices that will interpret the grey areas in a way favorable to the inclinations of their electorate, it all makes sense and you can reliably predict what will happen (see Roe V Wade).
@Bergerac82
@Bergerac82 Ай бұрын
@@Steve-cd9ul there’s nothing remotely grey about the Constitution, and it doesn’t matter who agrees with it. It’s the foundational document of the Republic. It needs no interpretation, it simply needs protection. Roe v Wade was OBVIOUSLY unconstitutional, regardless of your opinions on abortion.

I try to find analogues to these issues. So when someone declares gender a subjective construct I ask where in the animal kingdom have I seen this? While it's true that fungi have many genders, animals don't. No creature other than human voluntarily amputates its genitals and declares himself a new gender.. That alone raises issues about the whole thing. That alone creates a necessity to discuss the issue IN DEPTH. We must not let conversations be shut down.
@makokx7063
@makokx7063 Ай бұрын
Animals are not a good standard to measure humans by. Do they have buildings? Vehicles? Medicine? Electricity? 99% of human's existence is synthetic so saying we don't see it in nature doesn't necessarily mean we should or should not behave in a certain way. If we all acted the way chimps do civilization would be over in a day. Not trying to make an argument for transgenderism though.

Thanks for honoring my freedom of speech. If you think your identity depends on Jesus ... it would be best to keep in mind that Jesus would have stayed faithful to Judaism ... which was said to be the religion of his birth ... where he was said to be born PERFECT in mind and in soul. After being under the "spell" religion for 70 years of my life ... I suggest it is best to conclude that all religion is the stuff of old-age philosophy, cult, legend, fairy tale, flamboyant story-telling mythology.
@AlexReynard

@@AlexReynard I can't speak for others, but I believe that fairy tales have their place in all societies ... but they should be acknowledged as "being" fairy tales. Those in religion take their own religious stories as literal truth ... and each other's religious stories as being fairy tales ... or worse ... blasphemy against a real god. Thankfully non-human animals are grounded ... and stick only to nature.

You were under the spell of religion for 70 years yet didn't learn anything about said religion? It's easy and simple to dismiss this as fairy tales and hopeful fancies, I've heard those degrading statements before, but I honestly doubt this 2000 year old institution that has gone under the highest scrutiny is as flimsy as that. Did you ever look at the inevitable conclusion of materialism? This atheist philosophy? Have you genuinely looked into the abyss? The answer is worse than you think because Nihilism is a cope.

@@junevandermark952 typical question. Almost yawn-inducing. I came to my conclusion by simply reading up on both sides of the argument. I realized that Christianity was far far more consistent with it's worldview and ideals than atheism while atheism tended to shift the goal post, use mental gymnastics, contradict themselves while making completely opposing opinions when needed or use debate tactics in simple conversation. Essentially, atheism is filled with bad faith actors while Christianity had far less. Honestly, if I died tomorrow it wouldn't matter if there was an afterlife or not because I would be dead and not even realize it. Also I personally believe the vast majority of humanity is inherently evil. Not sauron evil, some tyrant wringing his hands to take over Narnia, but that more mundane kind of evil. A selfish kind of evil. The difference between you and me is that without God, mankind is still evil. Without God, there is no way to change these hairless chimpanzees from being hairless chimpanzees. I was honest with you, I'm expecting you to not be honest with me back however. Why did you turn away from religion? If you answer with some high minded altruistic prattle I'll tell you why you did.
