Jordan is so unbelievable technically skilled. Still amazes me how he fires a synth improvisation off on an 88 note graded hammer action keybed where the rest of us would struggle to keep along on the 61key synth action version, lol.

You don't need more skill to play on an 88 keys keyboard. It doesn't matter if it's 12 or 88, or 188 keys. You don't know much about music I guess.

@@mantelmann13well i guess someone needs it spelled. I ment the difference between a synth action keybed and fully weighted keybed. Apart from the Kronos 88 se with waterfall keys if i remember the model correct I don’t remember seeing any other 88 notes instruments with non hammer weighted keybeds. 🤔

Well it's 3yrs later... Hope you got your Kronos! Ive a Motif XF8 as my "Flagship." Dozens of other synths and controllers fill my small home studio and i just picked up my Kronos V2 this week after becoming bored with everything i have. (Hard to beleive but true) It's not mearly as complicated as the XF8 and both have similar features, but I still feel the XF8 feels more robust and i just feel it's built to a better standard. Sounds are great on both. So, it comes down to personal preference... Hope you got to enjoy your new toy 3yrs later 😎

I'm not sure if it's just an edit, or if Jordan disses that interviewer at 15:40... the dude asks a question about fan outreach, and Jordan just says, "Let's get back to the Kronos," lol.
@boothbuster
@boothbuster 9 жыл бұрын
Jesse Cole Ha, that is a good one - it looks to be an edit, but it's the perfect editing mistake in a way... really comes across like he is basically telling the Kronos rep to shove off! (and in response to being commended on his social media outreach, no less!)
@TheGuitarjock
@TheGuitarjock 7 жыл бұрын
I doubt that it was a dis. They were on a wavelength so-to-speak about the layering in order to create a sound that melds with the sound of the band. He tells the interviewer that he can ask him a question as he searches the keyboard for a sound to help explain the layering process. The interviewer asks the question and then Jordan finds the sound he was looking for. So he transitions back to the discussion of the Kronos. That is all that happened there.

How did the notation get written? Is it input mechanically via using one of the notation software out there or did it get put up while playing into a program that records the sounds and writes the music in real time? Obviously if it is the latter of the two (written while playing software) there would still be much to correct (barring notes, staffs going the wrong direction etc) but it would be so much help to have the notation at least due in part written while playing in real time ergo: Selecting the key, the time signature and then performing. This could literally mean showing someone an entire part of music to play in a matter of seconds.

Jordan, in the video it looks like you are using a foot controller to switch the Kronos sounds you use for the leads, is the right? if so, are you using the "Sceens" functionality to move between scenes or some other method? Great Stuff. new to your music, will get some !

Hello sir. He, as i do myself, uses a Boss FS-5U footswitch to change programs. Live, i use 2 of them, they're good quality and robust. 1 for program advance and the other as a sustain pedal. You just need to set the polarity correctly for use as a sustain or footswitch. There's a switch on the back to do that. You have the added bonus of being able to slot them together, if you use more than one, nice! I trust that helps you with your deliberations, my good man.

But let’s see him do those fast runs with his left hand! Not knocking him as a musician, but so many keyboard players have “weaker” left hands. -unless they are dedicated classical players. Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Bach won’t allow you to neglect the left hand. Not true in modern music. Need to spend hours just working the left hand to keep it all balanced.

Rudess is a very good sound engeneer, a very talented pianist. He has talent in creating sounds with several layers, creating arpegios and metal ryhthms using the sequencer and then plays above. But his music has no sensitivity, no soul. This is a virtuoso leaning against a machine he programmed himself. After 10 minutes, the audience is tired and needs rest.
