LOL my husband was like “ what the #%^* are you watching ?!” Hahaha🤣😂🤣😂 As Aestheticians we can sometimes forget that MOST people don’t know much about the skin at all and it’s our job to educate them. And MAN the impatient component with my clients drives me nuts also 😒 In the words of JS “everyone just needs to settle down “ 😉 LOVED this ! Thanks hun 🙏🏻❤️

We have a pregnant girl at my Esty school and they won’t allow her to use any acids or most essential oils because they say whatever you put on your skin the baby can also receive. Just wanted to put that out there so be cautious and ask your doctor.... ask an educated doctor... like a dermatologist. This video was very informative, Thank you Jordon Thank you Nerida 🙏🏻

Charlene H oh yes. Always ask your doctor. Because they have VERY different opinions. It depends on more the type of acid but the %, the formula. The medium used in etc

KK TN thank you! For this video all acids mentioned are essentially working the same. Dissolving dead cells by breaking down the bond between cells. Think of a brick and mortar analogy. That’s not perfect science but a good start.

Jordan Samuel Skin but we talk about stimulating collagen production esp w glycolic. How does that work? How does reduction in redness work with mandelic? Hydration with lactic! Etc 😬😘
@jordansamuelskin3550
@jordansamuelskin3550 5 жыл бұрын
KK TN all acids stimulate collagen not just glycolic. Any time the skin feels “injured” it helps to stimulate fibroblast cells. That’s what happens when we are younger and have more prominent scars. Skin has been injured. Fibroblast cells kick into play. I would not consider MA a redness reducer. I’m sure you could find a formula like that but I have never experienced that. Lactic acid isn’t hydrating in nature it *has* moisture retention qualities so anything applied after it will help to hold on to that moisture.

Zeyna Nd melasma and hyperpigmentation can both be VERY different and sometimes don’t react to the same treatments. For pregnancy/breastfeeding ingredients talk to your doctor. Nobody else. A spf and a gentle product with lactic acid can help keep things at bay until you are able to use certain Ingredients or receive certain treatments.

Do you think it would be okay to use a moisturizer with an acid in it and then once a week use a low acid peel?

beth wright not necessary at all. I personally wouldn’t and wouldn’t recommend but would ultimately depend on your skin. C

Perfect, thanks! Also would you have a good recommendation for post inflammatory erythema from mild acne??

beth wright keep up with your acid cream. Make sure you are good with spf as well. Avoid scrubbing and gritty washcloths. And maybe add a aloe based healing product in as well. Xo

Thanks Jordan! Love your videos! Super in-depth and informative! I’ve been in the esthetics industry for only 3 years and I’ve been learning so much from you and Nerida!

Thank you both so much for all of the information you provide. My skin has been doing so much better since I have found you both on youtube! Would using a cleanser with acid in it morning and night and using a retinol complex product twice a week be overdoing the actives?

Great video, very informative. However, I wonder about Nerida's comment that tretinoin can be absorbed into the blood. There are several well designed studies that show that it is not, in fact, absorbed systemically. I wish Nerida would cite her sources. Also, the fact that tretinoin is prescription only in the US does not mean anything. There are plenty of countries where it it sold over the counter and all of the people who use it live happily ever after. Yes, tretinoin is not to be used lightly, however, it is not a big bad wolf we have to be afraid of .
