Wow, I didn't know 'speaking nicely and answering questions directly (in line with the conservative playbook)" was the low, low bar you want to set for politicians. Yikes. That's sad. So, politicians don't actually have to have good policy, sound respect for science and nature, care for ending poverty, inequality, homelessness and moving away from destructive, unsustainable capitalist economics? They just need to speak nicely. Okay, well you have fun with that belief, go be a cheerleader for Danielle Smith, donate to her if you like, or her buddy Pierre. See how that works out for you. Meanwhile, critically thinking Canadians hold NO regard for mainstream politicians, understand that regressive conservatives have no position to help solve the systemic problems rooted in capitalism, nor do the neoLiberal leaders and the so-called progressive parties may be better policy-wise but are a far cry from really having a grasp on what kind of structural revolution is needed if Canada ever hopes to have a healthy, sustainable, viable economy that works for everybody - not just a small minority of super rich elites.

@@coolioso808 Honestly, I appreciate your reply, and whole heartedly agree that it is an extremely low bar indeed. I do watch question period often, and have yet to hear Justin or Christia answer a direct question. That said, I would like to hear your take on the last 9 years, as I am the first to admit that I am biased. I am also open to hear other views. How do you understand: 1. JT's spending more than all previous PMs combined and the resultant inflation? 2. His illegal (Roxham Rd) and legal immigration policies that we had no headroom in housing or healthcare sectors to accommodate the newcomers, resulting in doubling housing and rental costs, and forcing provinces into a 2 tiered medical system? They were already not able to support the existing population. 3. A carbon tax that has not dropped emissions, and if everyone in Canada were to commit suicide on the same day and therefore stop 100% of our CO2, that is equivalent to China's CO2 every 3 mo? I am for taxes that show results, but it can also be argued that Canada exporting Nat Gas even to just India to get them off coal, we would see, globally speaking, a 10x reduction of Canada's annual CO2. To me, it seems that CO2 is a global problem, and a global solution is necessary. I am not being sarcastic, and I honestly have not looked at the other side of the coin, but would do well to hear it. Capitalism puts large numbers of people into poverty, structurally, and very few get out. Glad you got out, but the unjust system of endless growth profit maximizing capitalism creates the condition of poverty and inequality that is socially destabilizing. Danni Smith supports the capitalist system that contributes to structural violence. She may not know all details, but she supports the structure and so does Two-Face Peterson, a Batman villain cosplayer. Have you ever wondered why capitalism isn't allowed to be openly discussed, criticized and analyzed in mainstream spaces? Is it because capitalism is just too perfect to even be questioned? Or is it maybe because powers that be are very wealthy because of capitalism and they don't want to rock the boat? Notice how even kids learn about market economics in school but aren't taught to question it? That's weird.

She'll help the rich grow their wealth far FAR before she'll help out anybody who is struggling. Do you think GDP growth is a sign of progress and a healthy economy in Canada? When an auto accident happens and kills two cyclists that is good for GDP. Fuel was bought for the motor vehicle, the vehicle was purchased, the bicycles were purchased, and funeral services will need to be paid for, higher insurance costs for the driver who killed somebody, lives are devastated forever, but guess what? GDP went up! So that looks like rainbows and sunshine for the economic health of a capitalist society. Try out Genuine Progress Indicator, it would have a MINUS for auto accidents and a nation will lots of health issues would not be doing well. But a nation with no poverty, homelessness, livable wages, less work per week required and full education and healthcare coverage would be very much higher on GPI than all these so-called rich nations like in the G7 that SERVE the richest at the expense of the poorest. We have a Culture in Decline and your friends aren't the rich oligarchs or right-wing parties. If you want better, you are going to need to work together with community people looking to bring about a better system, not status quo and not going back to 'free markets that worked in the past' because they never did, but people just think they did.

@@susiejames9733 You don't understand the political dynamic. It is not about Canada, it is about the votes. All the Liberal Votes are in the East, and by the time the vote count gets to Manitoba the election is over, it has already been decided. So then the game after the election is over, is steal the money out of the West to buy the next round of votes in the East. Why should Alberta be making "equalization payments" to Quebec??? Alberta is Land Locked, so when we want to build a pipeline East to sell the oil to Eastern refineries, and the natural Gas, and they shoot it down, and then we have to build a pipeline over the Rockies to the West coast, and sell the Oil and Natural Gas to China. So then you can see why the Western perspective would be different. It is F**k Trudeau and his Eastern Voters, there is NO CANADA, the East just wants our money, because it is easier to transport money than oil. So it is just West and East, the givers and the takers. That is the Western perspective, we are like Texas, we would be quite happy to secede. It is not about English and French it is about lack of equal political treatment.

As of recent data, Canada's share of global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions is approximately 1.6%. This figure can vary slightly depending on the source and the year of data being referenced, but it gives a good estimate of Canada's contribution to global carbon emissions relative to other countries. here's a breakdown of Canada's carbon emissions by province in percentage terms based on recent data: Alberta: Approximately 37% of Canada's total emissions. Ontario: Around 22% of Canada's total emissions. Quebec: Roughly 11% of Canada's total emissions. Saskatchewan: About 10% of Canada's total emissions. British Columbia: Approximately 9% of Canada's total emissions. Newfoundland and Labrador: Around 4% of Canada's total emissions. Nova Scotia: Roughly 3% of Canada's total emissions. New Brunswick: About 2% of Canada's total emissions. Manitoba: Approximately 2% of Canada's total emissions. Prince Edward Island: Less than 1% of Canada's total emissions. Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Yukon: Combined, these territories contribute less than 1% of Canada's total emissions. As of recent estimates, Canada produces approximately 730 megatons of carbon dioxide equivalent (Mt CO2e) emissions per year. The Boreal forest, which covers a significant portion of Canada, is estimated to absorb approximately 1.2 to 2.2 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year globally. Global Ocean Carbon Uptake: The global oceans absorb approximately 2.6 gigatons (Gt) of carbon dioxide per year on average (which is 2,600 megatons annually). *(Conversion equivalent: 1200 Megatons to 2200 Megatons) The Carbon Dioxide rate of absorption for the last 50 years... indicates a rise of in absorption that hits an average of approx 1.5% increase per year. This means in 50 years you could expect this number (if it maintains increase as it has been doing for 5 decades) to inflate to nearly 6 Gigatons (6000 Megatons). Even if you eliminate ALL CARBON EQUIVALENT emissions ENTIRELY... you've done effectively nothing globally. Shake it off people, they're after your money and destroying your country for a hostile foreign agenda. FIGHT BACK.

Good research, too bad it is missing many variable related to ecological decline. It's not just CO2, buddy. It's biodiversity loss, soil quality depletion, too much nitrogen and phosphorus, damaging fresh water bodies and garbage, oh, the garbage. Landfills aren't getting in smaller, are they? Too much waste is produced by a market-driven capitalist economic system. It's unhealthy. If you can't understand that, check the data on that. A whole host of scholars have done the research, from Jason Hickel to Timothee Parrique, Kate Raworth and many, many more. A sustainable Canada isn't about saving the globe, it's about creating healthy place for people to live. It matters who controls the destiny of the communities. More localized direct democracy, worker co-operatives and mutual aid networks are needed in a growing bottom-up management of the land and our communities. But climate change isn't going away if we ignore it and say "well, Canada isn't the biggest problem." Knowing the solutions is empowering, actually. It means we can create change at home, if we work together towards common goals, instead of fearing for our lives by a top-down corporate controlled world economic system still trying to keep capitalism alive.
@DoYouThinkForUrselF3 ай бұрын
Last i checked it was 1.3 percent. However that was three years ago and since then they have added a million last year to our population and god know what the previous two years were. So we took people from warm countries where you don't have to heat your homes and in many of our cities you require a car especially if your job requires odd hours like mine does with on call ect. It's known people in cold countries have higher co2 production. We require more imports food wise due to climate, our country is huge...more traveling distance. That is why this is so absurd that Trudeau and his ilk tell us they are the solution. It's a new political ideology....green religious zealots.
@coolioso8083 ай бұрын
@@DoYouThinkForUrselF car dependant culture was pushed by the Big Oil and Gas industry, especially on North America. Canada is huge? So is China, yet they have a vast network of high speed rail and maglev trains. I don't trust any politician as far as they can be thrown, certainly not neoLibs and Conservatives, but I read and research, and so can you. You don't have to be at the mercy of politicians to tell you what to think. Do your own research, do your own thinking and think better than they can so you don't fall for their tricks. The most sustainable design is bottom-up community by community with the land and resources held in common, direct democracy guided by science determines how we proceed. But we don't have anything like that now. We need full sail system change. I don't think you are aware how unsustainable the status quo capitalist-driven economic system is. It's a cancerous disease and will not get better by ignoring it.

@@juuhadz Quebec has he second lowest income inequality across Canada, just a little bit above PEI, which is astonishing because of the population and size difference between Quebec and PEI. But good ol' Alberta and Quebec lead the way in Canada for inequality. You have a problem with a society that has more social supports and less inequality?

Danielle Smith is a rare gem in the world of politics, we are blessed to have her speaking for so many who have been silenced by the eco movement.

Dr Peterson , I hope you have Danielle Smith back on your podcast again. There is numerous issues needed to be addressed. Being an Albertan my entire life, I never imagined how hard it is to live in Alberta. Afford the essentials. Worried about my young adult kids futures. Thank You Dr Peterson!
