This is one of the better videos I've seen on these types of techniques for a while. There is so much stuff on youtube these days that is targeted at beginners and just doesn't even come anywhere near being realistic, practical or within the fundamentals they barely understand yet. These are high percentage and easy to adopt into your game from an early stage in your training and have success for a long time with. Great work man.

Best instructional I’ve seen in some time. Tricks n Traps are the most fun component of this sport - demoralization in a mental capacity, not just rhino strength. Great for us old guys. All of these are must know for a purple belt! Osssssss
@TheLumpyLump2 жыл бұрын
awesome vid, thanks Jordan! I'm a whitebelt who's trying to up the amount of live rolling I do, which means lower intensity in each roll to avoid burnout. The few traps and chained attack sequences that I already have help tremendously against opponents who are using more strength and energy in rolls so I can't wait to try these out, especially the triangle and hundred percent, as everyone I roll with is already wise to my fake guillotine -> hip bump sweep from closed.

Hey Jordan, I've been following your videos/channel since I found you a couple months ago; this is my first comment, so I want to really thank you for the thought, time, and effort you take into making these high quality videos. I am about 1 year into my BJJ journey that's been marred by injuries on & off and lots of work - to say my time on the mat has been limited to just a couple days a week. Lifelong team sport athlete coming into martial art sports. Nonetheless, thanks to videos like yours, I am able to continue progressing on my concepts of the game/art of BJJ. I am a very cerebral athlete and understand beyond physicality and body mechanics, the midnset and fund of knowledge are just as important to continue your progression in this. Almost everything I've watched from you I've been able to implement into my game and am very happy with the results, even for a white belt who's still figuring everything out. I am part of a quality organization (Gracie Humaita represent) that provides great technique, great community, but not always the most cerebral discussion about skills/mindsets/traps, at least not on the days I go - possibly as it is well understood by the higher belts and not always remembered us white belts do not have these big picture concepts engrained in us...yet. You really are a remarkable help to me and the many others who watch your videos undoubtedly. Your personality comes through on the videos and are someone people would love to have as a mentor and friend. I can't thank you enough and hope to be able to show my gratitude by supporting you. Thank you, thank you, thank you! And thank you to your partner for always being a good sport in these uncomfortable video shoots.

Update. Went to my first tournament last weekend. AGF Chattanooga. Took third place in the adult NoGi 175-190 bracket and first in the masters Gi 175-190. I was beating the guy 4-0 in my first NoGi round when he straight ankle locked me off a failed dummy sweep. He knee reaped and the ref reprimanded him after the match and said since it was our first tournament he let it slide but if it happened again he would be DQ’d. Either way, Great first experience.

I like the cross collar to armbar trap and try to use it as often as possible. When I’m mounted, I do this also, but I’m looking for a kimora rather than the armbar with the cross collar fake. I’ve been trying to use your hand cover tip more to help me keep my opponents’ hands separated. That has really helped me be smoother rather than having to fight their established grip.

Awesome! I already use the Baseball Choke. One thing I like about that trap is even if it does not work. They typically have to give you some space in order to break the grip. This allows me to recover guard. I typically start looking for the baseball grip when I feel that my opponent is close to passing. Get it a lot from bottom half!
