I recently bought a brand new, NOS, never out of the box version of this phone at a Goodwill store for $3.99. It brings back memories for me because between 1992 and 1997, I used one of these phones all through my college days. That phone was thrown, slammed down, drop-kicked, and otherwise generally abused and it never stopped working.

These were great phones, built tough and built right.

There is a orange 210 trimline on ebay still older one with rubber buttons..

I have that type of phone and it works fantastic. You can also change the ringtone on these. To do that you press the program/mute button, # and then press 3, 6 or 9 to select one of the three ringtones programmed into the phone

I've been using these for a number of days now and I am very happy with them.. They work just as well as the old ones.. I listened to all the different ringtones, I like the default one best.. Unfortunately none of them are the classic tone..

I don't dislike the ringtone it comes with,, but I was expecting it to be the same..
@railroadelevators92585 жыл бұрын
The reason why they kept the speed dial buttons is because in a the event of 911 going down , you would have to call the fire/police/medical with their actual numbers

It's supposed to come with a little short cord also for a wall jack that phone can also go on the wall and used as a wall phone
@JordanU6 жыл бұрын
No, it's not.. If you want to mount the phone on the wall, you store the excess cord on the cord wrap on the bottom of the phone's base..
@dianebrown49556 жыл бұрын
Jordan U I had the trimline 210 in gray blue and teberry and they both came with a 6 inch line cord and a little small cord to mount the phone on the wall
@JordanU6 жыл бұрын
Perhaps years ago they may have come with both, but not anymore..

I have a few Lucent branded ones as well.. Lucent was at one point connected to AT&T, so I believe the designs are more or less the same..

So it's a vintage style trimline phone with a modern ringtone and modern finish
@JordanU7 жыл бұрын
The style and finish are the same as it's always been.. The ringtone, albeit different, I wouldn't necessarily consider to be 'modern'..

I had one and tried to program one of the one touch dial buttons at the top. Ended up dialing 911 and not knowing it, how are you supposed to program it without dialing 911?
@JordanU7 жыл бұрын
Press program, press the speed dial button you want to program it to, then press 911..
@jeepguy957 жыл бұрын
No I meant those 3 emergency buttons (fire, police, medial) at the top... I was trying to program them NOT to call an emergency number (911), as that's what they're pre-programmed from the factory to do when you press them.
@JordanU7 жыл бұрын
They are not pre-programmed to do anything.. Years ago when these phones first came out, 911 wasn't really a thing yet.. Each local area had a different 7-digit phone numbers for police, fire, and medical emergencies.. These were the numbers that people stored into each of those speed dial keys because most people didn't remember what those numbers were and it took too long to look them up in the phone book during an emergency.. If you want to program those three keys, follow the instructions in the previous comment, but type in something other than 911..
@jeepguy957 жыл бұрын
Mine was from 2006 or 2007... it did dial 911 when I first hit the 3 speed dial buttons and I had the local police call me and ask if I dialed 911. I said no I was trying to program a phone to not dial 911 when I hit those buttons. I never hit 911 when I was programming it, and would know better to do so... if I had a phone analyzer that didn't dial out and I knew what I did with the 210 I got at Best Buy, I could test the theory and it actually wouldn't dial 911, just send the touch tones to the analyzer, which is plugged only into 110V AC and can't dial out.

Not to criticize, but it looks really cheap compared to the Trimline models of the 60’s and 70’s. In those days they were built like tanks. Still,, the one you bought is a collectible and great to have as brand new. 👍 p.s. nice review.
