The two little screw information parts were exactly what I was needing to know about, and couldn't find info anywhere but here. The total disassembly was the cherry on top of the basic info I was looking for. Thank you kindly

*Love the size and it fits perfectly in a corner but **Fastly.Cool** the whole room. Really like how you can auto adjust how long you want the fan to be on. It is quite but highly effective.*

Oh the irony... But in all seriousness, yea dude this comment has absolutely NOTHING to do with the video. And here's the deal Jordan, the only move with people that you consider as "advertising freakshows" is not to say anything to them, just saying.

Most common question still not fully addressed lol. That is not hex, that is Torx™, or star. Notable difference: Hex bits are a standard hexagon shape with straight edges (such as the bit to get the blade off a Lakewood P-23); star bits have concave edges and appear more as an asterisk or star. I happen to like star bits better than standard bits, as the sizes are all standard so it's almost impossible to strip them. EDIT: Disregard all of the above, you showed them closer at the end and those are indeed hex screws. I got thrown off because I think you used a Torx bit to remove the hex screws; a "T" prefix usually designates Torx, and that will work sometimes but it's not always ideal. Fantastic, the oil can color terminology freakshow has been corrected.

I open mine yearly for maintenance...and one does indeed use T10 Torx security screws. So they have used several different versions to ensure most people can't clean their own fans. My 2nd one just uses T10 hex with no security for 2/6 screws. They also glued/epoxied in the speed control on one of them making it impossible to remove without breaking the plastic. Engineered to be disposable is so frustrating.

I have one of these Honeywell fans that got real nasty, struggled to start spinning then ran slow and noisy after 4 years of use in a shop window. It blew out hot air and cigarette smoke when warm outside and blew in cooler outside air, pollen, dust and bugs after the Sun went down. I used a #1 Phillips screwdriver with a 3" shank to remove the screws. Three came out with the magnetized screwdriver tip while three appeared to be stuck/stripped. I turned over the fan and gave it rap which made the three screws drop out. Next I used a 2" natural bristle paint brush to brush off the loose and fuzzy stuff that coated the housing and base. Then I wiped off the exterior and fan blades using a paper towel wetted with white vinegar. The round spring clip that secures the blades was easy to remove by using a small flat screwdriver to pry it up along the outer edge until it popped off. Then I lifted the fan using fingers under the fan blades and gave the motor shaft a few whacks with the handle of the #1 Phillips handle to break it free so it would lift off. I removed the two screws securing the motor to the fan housing then the screw securing the wire connection cover. Lifted out the two wire nuts w/wires so I could lift and rotate the motor for inspection. It was remarkably clean so sped up the process by shooting some shots of motorcycle chain lube thru a straw into the bearings. I filled one side first then let the motor stand for 30 minutes so the lube would soak the felt. Then I tipped the motor over to see how much ran out. None did so shot some more in there and let it sit again for 30 minutes. Did a second tip test where some lube dripped out so did the other bearing the same way. Then I reinstalled the cover and motor so I could start cleaning off the interior and cover louvers with paper towels wet with white vinegar. White vinegar is a cheap and efficient cleaning agent that'll strip off grease, nicotine and soot with ease. The wet paper towels will conform to the surfaces when smushed in and around so didn't take long to clean things up. There's some residue left on the louvers I'll get later using a rag when washing dishes. I reinstalled the fan blades then pressed in the clip using a socket wrench to make sure it was seated square. Plugged it in and turned it on to find the motor running like new again. It came to life immediately, ran quietly and moved a heckuvalot more air in all three speeds. I've used the M/C chain lube quite a few times in the past on shaded pole motors used in bathroom ceiling fans and refrigerator condenser fans with good results. Also use it to lube cables, hinges and pivot points on my motorcycle, motor vehicles and lawn equipment since it will penetrate thru small cracks and lasts a long time.

I got to say, these are very popular fans and that they’ve been making them to this day since the early 2000’s. It’s still relatively common to see these everywhere.

Great video! My HT 900 series fan had a switch problem. Took it apart verbatim to video. Noticed the common ground wasn't attached. It had been crammed into the port and never clamped. Switch looks like it's proprietized, specially made for the HT Turbo Fan series. Couldn't find a parts nor an electronic replacement on the internet. PHifft! The fans cost 16 bucks. Shame. I tossed it and bought a new one. Thanks for posting video.

The New Honeywell HT908 Uses the same Blade set design as this, but with more pitch. I always find it interesting how some manufacturers go back to Old designs. I have found that the rounded Honeywell blades although quieter, don't carry the air quite as far as the ones that have a pointed scoop.

@billwilson3609

I noticed people asking about replacement bearings. One might be able to find them at an appliance parts store in town or online. If the bearing has numbers/letters stamped/cast into it, then use those in a Google search. If you fail at that or see no numbers/letters, then try the standard practice of soaking the entire bearing in hot 3 in 1 Oil for a few hours. That'll allow the oil to saturate the sintered bearing and felt that surrounds it.
@JordanU

These are not ball bearings--you're not going to find replacements anywhere.
@billwilson3609
@billwilson3609 2 жыл бұрын
@@JordanU They may be able to by using the numbers/letters since those designate the size of the housing, what size motor shaft it's for and the type of bearing, be it bushed or roller bearing.

Found a 2007 model in a dumpster after people moving out of apartment complex. Dirty, but worked fine. Shaft was perfect when I took it apart for cleaning. PS. If you think about it, yes made in China, but cost what 15 bucks at most and still works? Of course id rather have the jobs here, just saying that is pretty good deal to last 20 plus years with very little maintenance..

Many of the fans made in China in the 90s and 00s were satisfactory, the primarily method of failure was neglect. If you keep them clean and lubricated, they'll run for quite some time.

Good video my dude. I have a question. Do you know if anyone sells bearing replacements? Someone gave me a fan for free. It ran rough when powered on. So I took it apart to clean and re oil it. Found out the front bearing was toast. So I'm looking for that whole piece.
