It always amazes me how the winners are able to sing immediately after winning. That takes real talent and courage. You could clearly see how emotional she was, and yet she still pulled off the song fantastically. Definitely one of the best singers to come out of AI, along with Kelly, Katherine, and Carrie.

I remember sitting on my couch when i was like 8-9 watching Ryan scream "JORDIN SPARKS!" This was when American Idol was actually worth watching, in my opinion. Now that all the good judges like Randy and Paula are gone it's just not my 'cup of tea' to indulge in the show anymore.

I think what happened is there became more competition. When Idol first launched there wasn't the voice or Xfactor..yes Xfactor is canceled now but people like the voice better bc it's more unique and interesting they judge as a blind audition based upon what they hear vs what they hear and see. Also to gain more young viewers the contestants need to sing more hot relavant songs to engage the attention not songs before their time. That's why the viewers decline after the live shows.
