Jorge Masvidal opened up about allegedly assaulting Colby Covington outside of the ring. After his loss in UFC 272, he admitted to confronting Covington on the street, which resulted in him being charged with two felonies. Masvidal, originally pleading not guilty, later pleaded no contest. The confrontation stemmed from Covington's comment about Masvidal's children, which the UFC fighter revealed had deeply angered him. According to Masvidal, Covington had previously threatened his life on a podcast, so when they ran into each other in Miami, he decided to retaliate. Masvidal has warned Covington to avoid involving his children in the future as it will result in continuous confrontations. Jorge Masvidal also pledged to rapper Drake, who had bet heavily on him for the UFC 272 fight, that he would win in the next fight.
