Hi Jorge, I love your videos and I would like to ask 2 questions 1. if you can post more frequently? . And more importantly 2. I just wanted to ask you, how having a lab setup in your home can effect your electricity bills.....are there certain devices i.e. 2950, 3560 which are less power consuming than other. Please let me know. Thanks :)

I have to buy one part of my lab at a time cause I cant afford to buy the entire thing at once. I have the first part coming in the mail its an 1841. I got a long way to go.

Do you need to buy laptops or extra devices to mimic users? I'd be so lost if I just bought equipment :(

Shook One you could try creating a loopback instead of a laptop

Hi Jorge, always loving your videos, I have a question for you. I am a CCNA who earned it with 3 physical 2610xm's and 3 2950c's which I sold when i moved across states. For my university CCNP classes starting in May, we need to use Cisco Premium Learning Labs. I am planning on getting their premium subscription that comes with extra lab hours for $450 for the year. These are virtualized full IOS hosted by Cisco. This also includes their videos and other resources. Would this be enough for CCNP or would I need to supplement with GNS3? Planning on using Bryant's and Molinar's books. Thanks
@JorgeAlmazan7 жыл бұрын
It may very well be enough. Although I'm not familiar with the platform Cisco Learning uses. In terms of material I'd pick up everything I possibly can.

Jorge Almazan, Hi Jorge I really enjoy your video which I just found out. I have just purchased a Chris Bryant CCNA class and I have a $500 budget to setup a lab for Cisco and MCSA. Can you recommend a used server for with configuration. thank you and congrats on your career
@JorgeAlmazan7 жыл бұрын
I second what du'an says. At the CCNA/MCSA level, you can simply stick to vmware workstation or fusion on your laptop and learn using that. No need to buy expensive server. Later on when you begin experimenting with multiple larger servers that require more resources, and/or want to learn ESXi then look for a server.

Du'An Lightfoot thanks for your response, my laptop max only 8 gig ram

I'm looking to build a home lab. Down the line, I want everything to be functional. I don't want 10/100 switches and routers. I have 10 gigabit ethernet connection on my primary equipment. At the very least I am fine with gigabit ethernet. What are my options for a full 1 gigabit lab? Preferably hardware that supports LACP?

Hi Jorge good video, I have a question related to the journey. Right now my current goal for cisco is CCNP.. but I am quite new to the industry. With the rise of SDN is it a good idea to branch off to programming/python or do you recommend focusing on cisco certifications?
@JorgeAlmazan7 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend to stick with the certs then learn python after on your own.
@D35TR007 жыл бұрын
Perhaps 90% of the SDN out there has an interface but like any other interface there is code on the back-end. Get your certs as a must-have and the programming/coding as a nice to have.

would eve-ng be a better solution than physical?
@JorgeAlmazan3 жыл бұрын
I'm really liking EVE-NG personally. But if you've never worked with real equipment I would invest in real gear. Plus if you wanted to experiment with wireless AP's or Phone systems a physical POE switch would be required.

eve-ng.com is also a good emulator. though you do need your own images..... but for CCIE, many people I know swear by it.

I've heard that on the CCNA you cannot configure a router but you have to go the terminal on the computer?????
@JorgeAlmazan7 жыл бұрын
You do configure the router. But via a terminal software like PuTTy or SecureCRT.

how else would you configure it?

Great video. Thanks. Sir, I have an issue on how to configure my home cisco 2821 so that I can be able to call outside from my lan. The Router Go/1 is connected to the lan fa0/1. The G0/0 is connected to DSL service provider interface. How to connect the voice port to the DSL and configure it so that I could call out and receive calls from outside is the issue. Please help

Hi Jorge. How did you get the Network System Administrator job in 2008? I'm looking at your LinkedIn profile and I don't see any previous experience.
@JorgeAlmazan6 жыл бұрын
mbison83 We all start somewhere. This position was with a small consulting firm. Previous to 2008 i worked with this firm from time to time shadowing installs.
@gibson76546 жыл бұрын
Jorge Almazan so you knew someone at the company and asked to assist, correct?
@JorgeAlmazan6 жыл бұрын
mbison83 yes. Funny enough I was connected through my family doctor. Often people with experience are always happy to take people under their wing. This company was a small business, so it made things easy for shadowing (no corporate policies, etc).
@gibson76546 жыл бұрын

could you email me your notes for the ccna like a good picture if you could
@diablojd525 жыл бұрын
I disagree with the feedback. The lowest I would go with is 99% because a lot of people use fake accounts to boost sales or sell a lot of cheap ite ms for high feedback then start screwing people.
