@klumpy777 Good morning friend, your a little all over the map there. I know we agree more than disagree one mediator Jesus agree, trinity agree, there is nothing equal to God agree. Let's stick to one topic at a time. The saints are they dead or are they alive and can they pray for us, this is our topic. First questions for you what happens to our spirits when we die? what do you think a saint is and do you believe that the Bible is inerrant, infallible word of God? If you answered yes to the third question then we both agree. If there are any perceive contradictions then we are reading the bible wrong by default.The saints are dead or are they alive. We are a composite creature, spirit and matter, body and soul same thing OK we physically die. Our soul is not trapped in our rotting bodies when we die. Our spirits are not a sleep in any kinda of sense. See Luke 16:19 there is consciousness after death agree or disagree? By the way Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 is there to make a point on the entire passage your taken it out of context. The passage is more about how to live life than about death and totally irrelevant to the saints. Hope you have a blessed day. Just to let you know in my case it's not about who's right or wrong it's about the truth. The reason I mention the holy spirit before is because he's our helper it's his job to teach us the truth we have to invoke him to come to us and pray before we read the Bible see John 14:17, John 14:26. I teach Spanish. That is the main message of all my lessons. Christ said," Go forth and convert all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost." Just look at a map to see who took that to heart, and fought for 700 years to win their country back from Muslims, then the same year turned their attention to converting the world. We thank God, because He used Spain as an instrument to expand the true faith. Isabel la Católica in particular was a very pious woman who wanted to expand the faith in the New World (the faith was originally expanded by people of other countries in the Old World). I am thankful because I wouldn't exist if Isabel la Católica had not tried to expand the faith out of love for God. I am mainly of Spanish ancestry mixed with Native American and African. Many people in the New World have some Spanish ancestry to a certain degree and even those with no Spanish ancestry certainly have benefited from learning the faith. For me, although I don't have a close relative born in Spain, many of my ancestors were criollos (full-blown Spaniards born in the Americas). I thank God and I bless Isabel la Católica and my brave ancestors who travelled to a new continent and decided to settle in the land where I was born, and pass their beloved religion to their children, grandchildren, and so on. Brave men who came to this continent and settled in it and loved it as their own. DNA tests in my city show that we are genetically about 75% of Spaniard ancestry, or 3/4 Spanish. This 75% came from the father's side, meaning that for a couple of centuries men coming from Spain or criollos kept marrying local women who were fully native in the first generations, mestizas in the second, castizas in the third, etc. But Spain and these brave Spaniards were only an instrument and one of many means God used for evangelization. Let's not forget that in Mexico, a country with a large native population, it was the Virgin herself who evangelized them as the Lady of Guadalupe. She used a native to speak on her behalf, and it was her who made the conversion of thousands possible. I'm not Mexican, but being such a big and influential country, this was also a decisive point. It's sad to see, however, how much Spain has lost the faith. It's now a very liberal country, people aren't having children, the Muslims are taking it over again, and atheism is rampant. I pray for Spain to return to the faith, and I pray for Spaniards to love their relatives in the Americas (mixed or not), and for the people in the Americas to love Spain since there is also a lot of ignorance on the subject and people blaming Spain for things that aren't true. God save Spain and convert it back to the faith.

So Catholics pray to Saints and ask the saints to pray for them? We are only supposed to pray to God through Jesus. You can ask God to sent angels to help you. Why does the younger speaker begin with describing that terrible government as "socialist at its core"? Socialism had nothing to do with the persecution of the Church at the time. It was an evil authoritarianism by an evil, cruel government of a very poor people. To even mention "socialist at its core" shows a very basic ignorance of the meaning of "socialism" (or is an intentional distortion, which I would certainly hope it isn't). Is the speaker also saying, then, that the Catholic Church was "capitalist at its core"? The Church is not persecuted today in many countries that have significant socialist elements. For example, most advanced countries (including Canada) have universal healthcare but they do not persecute the Church or the Faith. Recently, topics in American Catholic media have shown a noticeable bias against anything socialist and have aggressively promoted capitalism despite its millions of victims. It almost seems as though Catholic media in the U.S. has become a spokesman for capitalism and corporatism. Such a shame. American Catholics have a moral obligation to ALWAYS carefully analyze what Catholic media tries to spoon-feed them. Just because the label says "Catholic" does not make it Catholic. In fact, much of what is pushed as "Catholic" simply isn't.

​@@flower5396 Hello Florecita. Believe me, I am very familiar with the subject (and a great admirer of the saint, too). By the way, have you ever read Mater et Magistra by Pope John XXIII? Or even some of what Pope Leo XIII wrote long before. Or listened seriously to the message of the present pope? This is the problem: capitalism and socialism are economic systems, not theological conclusions. What some would call "evil socialism" provides universal healthcare in the mixed economic systems of the entire rest of the advanced world (including Canada, the U.K., Ireland, and at least a dozen other countries that have a higher standard of living and complete access to health care). Truly democratic socialist countries have better everything AND treat patients based on their need, not on their insurance company or ability to pay. They are better educated, have lower crime rates, and rank higher on the "happiness" spectrum. There are bad socialist countries that go to far and are also undemocratic; those countries were/are called "communist." I'm sick, though, of misrepresentations of basic facts by conservative Catholic media. The Catholic Church should not be the propaganda wing of a political party, which is what it too often is in the U.S. When it behaves this way, it poops all over itself, betrays much of its rich spiritual heritage, and turns away from God.
