A wee bit off topic, but this was just recommended for me today, so I clicked it, and am glad that I did. I joined your website, and I wonder if I could tell you this story from St. Teresa of Avila: She was speaking to someone, I forget who, but she said that she often received favors and answers prayers from the saints, but not always. She then said that as for her devotion to him, she noted that he always obtained what she was praying for. Just think: out of all the Jewish men alive at that time, God chose him to be the foster father of His own Son! And the spouse of His finest daughter, the Immaculate Virgin Mary! I used to have a holy card with a prayer on it, and under the picture of him holding Jesus and below that it had, St. Joseph, most silent, pray for us. Let us learn from St. Joseph, and humbly accomplish the holy Will of God each day, by living our humble lives, United to the Holy Family!

May I know who were the three shepherds and where are they from?
@TruthoftheSpirit4 жыл бұрын
In Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich's visions the personal lives of the shepherds were not shared except she does mention that upon occasion wives came with shepherds to visit the crib cave. She also talks about when Jesus, grown, visited their sons. "Next day Jesus and the disciples were escorted by the shepherds farther on toward Bethlehem to the dwellings of the sons of the three eldest shepherds to whom the angels at Christs birth had first appeared, and who first had offered Him their homage of veneration. They were now dead and lay buried not far from the dwellings, which were about one hours distance from the Crib Cave. Three sons of the old shepherds were still alive and they were themselves old men. They were held in great respect by all the others, their families being something like superiors over the rest, something similar to the Three Kings among their people. They received Jesus very humbly and joyfully, and led Him to the graves of their fathers."

If I remember correctly the book clearly states that the pilgrimage was always separated by sex there was a female group and there was a male group returning from Jerusalem THUS Joseph thought Jesus was with Mary and Mary thought He was with Joseph ! This would have made perfect sense as how they didn’t realize He had been left behind. Please correct this!

Wasn't th3 circumcision of Jesus was performed in the temple? That's what we read in the Gospels.
@TruthoftheSpirit4 жыл бұрын
We are not experts in Jewish law, but the circumcision was required to be on the 8th day of birth; however, the new mothers couldn't enter the temple until after the blood flow from afterbirth was complete. Thus it makes sense that the local synagogue priest would come to Jesus for the ceremony. Later on, when Mary was able to travel to the temple she presented herself for the Purification ritual and Jesus was presented for the dedication ritual of the Presentation. Here's scripture from the NAB, Luke Ch. 2: [Header:]"The Circumcision and Naming of Jesus verse 21. When eight days were completed for his circumcision, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel before he was conceived in the womb. [header:] The Presentation in the Temple. Verse 22 When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord"

It's related that Joseph hid from his brothers in this cave, meaning....?
@TruthoftheSpirit3 жыл бұрын
In the "Joseph Before the Birth of Jesus" we shared Anne Catherine's words about Joseph and his brothers as children. She reports that Joseph was bullied by his brothers. It includes this, "They always treated him roughly, but he bore all patiently. Sometimes, when kneeling in prayer in the colonnade that ran around the courtyard, his face turned to the wall, his brothers would push him over. Once I saw one of them, when Joseph was thus praying, kick him in the back; but Joseph appeared not to notice it. The other repeated his blows, until at last Joseph fell to the ground. Then I saw that he had been absorbed in God. But he did not revenge himself; he merely turned away quietly and sought another secluded spot."

I have a problem with the last comment. I believe she must be a Protestant. I am familiar with their rhetoric about salvation negating the Catholic view of salvation and they never miss a chance to do that irrelevant of the situation. I have nothing against Protestants . I’ve even attended a Protestant secondary school during my youth and I love them as children of God. I was upset because instead of commenting on the video where Mary and Joseph were praised she starts preaching about salvation. Obviously people watching this video are Christians and most probably Catholics and they are familiar with the story of salvation.

There are multiple errors in this reading and I should not have to point each and every error out. It is difficult for me to comprehend how this woman was allowed to Post this video, it is only giving non-believers reasons to question the Bible, since the main mistakes that were made was when she was quoting the scriptures
@TruthoftheSpirit3 жыл бұрын
Please note that no where in this account of Blessed Anne Catherine's visions does she quote scripture. This account is an abridged yet word for word reading of her visions. Since it is from personal revelation no one is required to believe it and it is not to supplant in any way the teaching of the Church which includes the Holy Bible. It does not contradict the bible.
