Honestly, the delicate second moments are so astonishing. The careful light sound is the most solid depiction of the zenith of the French symphony of the 18th century.

What exactly about this sounds "French"? If I didn't know better, I'd have guessed it was one of Haydn's many symphonies.

I’m impressed by the Haydnesque energy this composer puts into these symphonies, while also using an African rhythm in the first of these two at 0:53. I LOVE IT, and may this composer be much more well-known than he is today😊🎻❤

At 0:53 I’m saying that the “African” rhythm reminds me of that rhythm frequently heard in pop music today which is derived from African slaves in the Caribbean.

They're very early-classical sounding (I wonder why? :P), but they're also really nicely-written.

French classical symphonies are their own world. He was taught by Gossec in composing. French composers saw musically differently than the Italians and the Germans etc.

@@barryhowardbrake Oh, I see I accidentally implied that early classicism sounds bad :P. Not my intention at all!

Hello Sir, I am looking for a clear notation of this work- obviously it exists because I can see it on your video- All I can find of this work is a hand-written scan on IMSLP- can you point me in the right direction to find better sheet music and score for this work? Thank you so much.

Hello! I did this engraving of the full score, assembling the parts on IMSLP. "My" full score is on IMSLP too, I never did the part, for now. This symphony is now edited by Fountayne Edition and by Musica Ritrovata.

I managed to purchase his score here. Btw if you haven't heard his adagio in F minor for piano is so beautiful and so sad. I wanted to learn it on the piano and I got the score from this site. There's a bunch of stuff on there, his symphony score can be found there too! www.presser.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=Saint-georges

I think there's a mistake in the bass part at bar 10 in the final presto movement. Sounds like a descending A arpeggio, but it's written as B minor? I planned to use it to teach my classes about I / V harmony in classical music, so wanted to check that is a typo?
@SPscorevideos3 жыл бұрын
Ops, you're right! My mistake, sorry, of course it's an A major arpeggio. :)
