Not that hard to believe he could get a tommy gun on short notice. Battle Tendency is set in '38. The National Firearms act was passed in '34. It's not at all hard to believe that with Speedwagon's connections, Joseph could find a store _somewhere_ in New York City which still had some to sell under the table, and a couple hundred bucks was obviously not going to be an issue.

Speedwagon has been targeted by criminals before, so Joseph was prepared in case they went after him or Erina. And since, Speedwagon has proven mafia connections, he just had to purchase them. I couldn't fucking tell you how he put all those grenades on Straights tho. Araki wants us to believe it happened she Joseph inspected Straights "corpse", but eh.
