I've worked for Malaysia Airlines before. It was awful, all the directors and CEOs are incompetent and extremely arrogant. There was extreme corruption and all the managers and top bosses were only interested in stealing money from the company instead of actually running it. All of us were underpaid and treated very badly. Personally I was very resentful and never did a good job. I genuinely hope they go bankrupt.

When the employees look miserable at a company you know it's usually because they're being treated like crap from the higher-ups... you can usually tell when something is wrong ... even when they're forced to smile and put on an act you can usually tell who is working for a screwed-up abusive employer .

from my experience like 6 years ago with Malaysia Airline, from HK-Kuala Lumpur-London, almost all of the crews were rude except one or two Malay FAs and Chinese FAs. I still remembered how I was rejected loudly by one FA in front of everybody when I asked if it was possible to have another plate to eat? I have never had any troubles with even the most criticized Air China like 8 years ago. But I also remembered one Chinese FA who showed my friend the sleeping pods for the crews and she actually gave me medicine to help me ease my nausea. I still kind missed the FA who gave me the meds, she is just one lovely lady.

The other aspect of that workplace environment and the experience of this passenger us generally, you can't criticise muslims. It doesn't sit well with them. They are the best people on earth because their book says so, yet they are overrepresented as a proportion of the population in the west; in the justice system.

the only reason why they apologised quickly to him because they just realised he has alot of followers, in reality ordinary people who have been treated badly have no platform to voice out or perhaps they wouldnt complain or take things further as the process is lengthy, thanks to this review. one word AVOID

Exactly. So many people get treated a lot worse than he did, and never get an apology, or any form of compensation, because they don't have a following or no one cares. It's a shame.

I once flew business class in Qantas on a long haul flight to the USA and had the same problem with the inflight entertainment system. The crew did everything humanly possible to fix the problem. They were so great about it, that they even offered to upgrade me to first class, but I declined because it wasn’t a window seat. Nevertheless, without me even knowing, they contacted ground engineering on how to fix the issue, which they did two hours later. Not only that, the cabin manager so apologetic about it that he made sure I was rewarded with tens of thousands of frequent flyer points. If you come to Australia, I would encourage you to fly Qantas each time.

Same thing happened to us on Qantas on a 747 SYD-YVR, our whole 4 seats in the middle stopped working, the crew tried to get it working but to no avail. They gifted 2 bottles of wine from business class and topped up our FF account, I will always fly Qantas, never had a bad experience with them

Fly Singapore Airlines instead. My screen was broken during a flight to Europe. They politely apologized and gave us a US$100 voucher immediately while trying hard to fix and restarting the entertainment system. 3 hours later my screen worked, and they still honored the voucher, which we spent on their inflight shopping. They were very courteous during the whole flight, and cared genuinely about me and their customers. No wonder they are the number #1 airlines in the world.

@Ryab Anderson why you gotta be so salty tho? It's their experience and they have the right to share it. Everyone have different livings and view of what is good so it might not be a good fit for your friends but it would most certainly be one for others. And, imo, you can't really compare qa and sa knowing that they are from two different countries with two different cultures. And let me add one more thing, what did you expected from such airlines aka the "best" in the world? Of course they will have an ass-kisser type of act, because that's the whole point ! Peoples aren't here to be served by robots without feelings or peoples dragging the shit out of them. Being in company of peoples who at least seems to care about you is also what peoples are paying for. Complaining about that is just blandly stupid. Let me end by that nobody truly cares about you neither, nor your opinion dear. Stop being rude for no legit reasons. You're just gonna waste time, energy and credibility.

Our family flew Singapore to japan and our luggage missed the flight. We were met at the airport by a Singapore airlines rep and they apologised profusely about the inconvenience and presented us with an apology letter and cash to allow us to buy essentials until our luggage arrived. They also arrange express delivery once the luggage arrived on the next flight direct to our hotel...brilliant service-brilliant airline!

Agree Singapore are great. I had a horrendous experience through Heathrow security that left me so traumatised that I was a mess when I reached the gate. The cabin crew were absolutely amazing. Asked what was wrong and were genuinely concerned and confirmed this not an isolated experience. I was looked after with exceptional service. Qatar is also fantastic... only problem now is the overkill on masks, temp checks that puts me off as am anxious anyway and hopefully they stop all this do we can enjoy flying again as travel broadens the mind.

@@jsc2606 Heathrow staff need to get their act together, these two ladies kept a French guy and my mum at the scanners while we were trying to depart, she kept us and them waiting for a whole 30 minutes for no reason throwing slurs at them and not explaining their reasoning for holding them back. The French guy and my mum just kept laughing at how stupid they were acting. I feel bad for him, he seemed nice and very genuine.

Why are people being so negative in the comments section? I'd be mad too if my entertainment isn't working on a 10hr flight. He paid for that. He has all the rights to complain. Those who say "I don't care for the services, I just wanna get to my destination", man.. you're wasting your money.

They're lying, I'd be happy to cut their internet for 14 hours and lock them in the loo with people outside harassing them (which would be far more roomy anyway). People like that are horrible, they can't empathise, frankly, they're what's wrong with the world.

I'm a Malaysian myself and I'm terribly sorry about your terrible experience with MH. Never fly with MH again! They don't even care about customers and their needs which is inhuman behaviour. It's amusing that the crew work in hospitality industry when they are hostile. MH is going downhill since the MH370 AND MH17 crash 8 years ago. MH-MALAYSIAN HOSTILITY!!!

TBH I've always received a very good experience on American. Sometimes it seems like they are willing to delay sooner in bad weather than other airlines, but it's in the interest of safety. The flight attendants and gate agents are almost always really nice and happy to help you.

About 6 years ago when I was about 12 I flew Malaysia airlines from Kuala Lumpur to LHR and I was pleased with their service. On the flight I was fairly ill but the stewards offered up their seats at the back of the plane to allow me to try get some sleep and be in a quieter area. I understand every crew is different but I was satisfied with the service. I’m not sure if I would fly with them currently though judging by how the company is going.

This is the first time I get to watch a video by you and I like the way you tell your experience. It is clear why cabin crew do not care about passengers. If the CEO does not care about their customers, neither will the rest of the employees. I look up to you because despite your bad experience, you never offended anybody and were very decent all through your video. Many years ago I flew Malaysia Airlines and fortunately it was a good experience. Thanks for your video and I will be another follower of yours.

In 1990, I took my MAS flight 🛫 from Singapore 🇸🇬 to Heathrow 🇬🇧 . Their flight was horrible and service is below par with most airlines. Enough is enough . Since then I never took MAS anymore.

I remember watching this unfold on Instagram as it happened 🍿 To everyone who thinks “planes are just there to get from A to B everything else is a bonus”...why are you watching airline review channels? 🤷🏼‍♂️ When the day comes that airline marketing just says “hey we’ll get you to London, probably won’t lose your bags, and you won’t die”, we can stop complaining. But as it is, airlines promise excellent service and comfort in every class and if you don’t get it, you have every right to point it out.

Paul's Trip Reports this video came up when I was looking for flight from Singapore- NY (i wanted to see how the seats in business class are like before booking ). The title of this video “BULLIED” caught my attention but it was exaggerated. I travel for business on average once a month on Any airlines with suitable time that can bring me to destinations in time for meetings (I’m in shipping so I hv to go to many different countries ). I experienced good and bad services on different airlines business or economy class . I can’t be bothered as I hv only one expectation- bring me to destination in one piece safely in time for my meetings and no lost luggage . Priorities in life .

As a Malaysian myself, im so sorry for what you went through with our airline service. The fact that you still have our country so close to your heart and still have kind words about us towards the end of the video makes me feel extremely bad. Thank you for being honest and we hope you get a better experience the next time you fly with our airlines. Also, i’ll be flying to london this sunday with MH004 as well, so deffinitely am thankful for your video. At least i could prepare myself for the worst 😂

Thank you Josh for your honestity and for telling things just as they happened.I started watching your videos not long agosto and like them so much because they are ' real '.I've got to travel to M'sia often because my husband is malay born in S'pore when was still part of M'sia.We met in England and few months later got married and flew to M'sia.Couldn't stay more than 3 years due to health problems that had to do with the lunes and the weather there and I decided to return to Europe with my mom to recover. Even with a great job he insisted of coming with me....and decided to stay for good.That's why whenever we can afford we go to visit his brothers and sisters and rest of huge family.My first flight just a few days married was in M'sian Airlines.Maybe that was many years ago and I found it a normal airline. But on my way back I already took a European flight.Since then we have been up and down in different Airlines.Maybe we just wanted to try other Airlines. Some great as S'pore Airlines,Emirates,Catar,British Airlines,Lufhansa,Air France,KLM..and others.We only had problems once in PIA.There was trouble in the country and London Karachi was not bad but the plane we were given from Karachi to KL was anything but a plane and the service on board better not to mention. As we've been hearing nothing good about M'sian Airlines lately and we have to go there this next year we're deciding to take Turkish Airlines or Saudia Airlines as they have improved a lot.I've seen your video flying Saudia and it seems alright.The only problem we have to travel first to Madrid while Turkish leaves from Málaga (where we live.He prefered that city than Madrid) By the way I wasn't at all satisfied when we flew Air France .A couple of disgusting happenings on board that maybe I'll tell you another day. Hope you continue with your great videos because they are helpful for travellers.Take care and stay safe.💕

Last time I flew Malaysian Airlines, I flew from KL to Perth Australia a few years ago, 20. minutes after the meal service, a kid in the same row as me shouted out loud "Mum, I can feel a worm crawling out my bottom". I'm serious. Everyone in the cabin stopped eating !

I used to fly Malaysian Airlines on that route back in the days when they used the 747. Most staff were nice, but some were rude. The pilots were very friendly.

once I got the MAS flight attendant to help me swap a seat because my neighbor was a little girl and had fallen asleep into my seat while I was away. it was a red-eye flight. she, in a loud and authoritative voice, yelled for the little girl to wake up and go back to her seat. imagine the horror on my face and the stares I receive.

Thank you for your review Josh. I was going to book Malaysian airlines for my January holiday but not anymore with this level of customer service. I would rather pay extra and enjoy my flight. Booked with Qatar Airlines instead :)

I got overbooked on a Malaysia flight ( so where about 20 others) on the way to Auckland form London. I was overbooked on the return journey and my father was also overbooked on the journey to Auckland as well as the return journey

I remember my flight from Singapore to Dubai back in 2017. One crew from the layover to KL was extremely rude. He was screaming at the passengers who were asking for assistance with their luggage to wait. But that guy was literally doing nothing, just walking back and forth the aisle watching people struggling with the overhead cabin. And when the passenger called him up again, he got angry and said "Just wait, ok? I already told you. You don't understand?" I was shocked. There and then I decided that it will be my first and last time flying Malaysia Airlines.

Wow! This can and should be used for customer service training and demonstrate to large companies that a few bad apples can undo the good work of everybody else. The attitude of the crew is the biggest determining factor of whether a flight is a good or a bad experience (even when some physical things go wrong) and it amazes me that airlines don't do more to genuinely engage with their crews and get them to understand this. Hopefully this is the wake up call that MH - and other airlines - need.

I don’t always get approval, only from airlines which are strict with filming onboard. Usually I just rock up also in order to make the experience as authentic as possible. However I never ran into a single issue... maybe with LOT I did, they didn’t like to be filmed.

Sounds like a horrible flight, but your talk about the CEO makes no sense at all.... He doesn't have time to talk about it, he is not in charge of the customer experience, he likely doesn't respond to your email either, his actual email will not be public. Talking about this issue, the CEO is the worst person to talk to, and unless you met him face to face, you never had a conversation with the CEO.... he is in charge of all the macro stuff, not micro management like this. Your view of that part is a plain misconception.

I flew with Malaysia Airlines in 2003. I agree, the crews are very unfriendly and the service was not very good. Never flew with them again. I am sad to know it hasn't changed.

I googled it and found an article that Malaysian Airlines is ready to file for a bankruptcy. No wonder they don't care for passenger. I would not fly airlines with such terrible attitude and poor customer skill. Don' they want to have a good reputation like Singapore Airlines has ??? A flight attendant took care of you should be taken out from in flight position and offer position which has no direct contact with passenger. He obviously ruin the reputation of Malaysian Airlines.

Malaysia has a discriminatory government policy which gives special preferential treatment to the Malay people over the local Chinese and Indian population. Hence government companies tend to hire people based on the policy ( or race) rather than on qualifications or merits. Most government owned companies such as Malaysian Airline, the national car Proton have bad products and bad services. Basically the employees are incompetent to the point of useless but they have a job for life. Privately owned Malaysian companies are the complete opposite with excellent services and excellent products. Hence most Malaysians tend to fly with Air Asia (privately owned).

Even i myself a Malaysian experienced this before. I was coming back from LDN to KUL for my eid holiday. I was fasting before boarding when the plane was about to board, it was time for break fast, they could not care less to give me water and dates, as they were distributing it to others. Probably because i did not look rich enough to them. Thats what my family said. And not only that, few hours later it was about time for me to fast again. So usually muslims before they started fasting they need to eat and drink (sahoor) The flight attendants did not offer me anything to eat or drink, i was waiting and waiting but no body showed up, and ended i myself asked for a glass of water before the time to fast started. Without eating. This did not happen to my sister where they actually offered her meals and drinks before it is time to fast.

As a Malaysian, I never flown Malaysia Airlines since 2016 but I know the staff was really unhappy with one of the passengers who shared experience with me. He was just asking for better food but they instead manipulated him. Malaysia Airlines is falling apart really as well as Malaysian Politics but I hope everything recovers soon. AirAsia is totally better but everyone chooses the MAS Subsidiary Firefly which was kind of the same but better to say the least. I feel very bad for you and I hope you feel okay now.

I flew with Malaysia Airlines yesterday and had similar experience. I flew back from Siem Reap. The food that they served from Siem Reap was hideous, not edible almost. The take off process wasn't the smoothest, I was sick for the entire flight due to the take off. I don't think I want to fly with them again. No matter how cheap it is, I will just choose different airlines.

Or instead, only share the one item that could easily be fixed, the infotainment system. The rudeness of the crew, the awful food, those, I would have waited until I got off the plane before posting. That being said, that's with 20/20 hindsight, no one could have predicted such an adverse reaction to a customer complaint.

I think malaysian are ok on regional flights. Flew with them last year from Bali to KL and it was fine. Long haul I would prefer others. Flew longhaul austrian to BKK and back with thai on that same trip and both were excellent.

About 35 years ago I boarded a flight from Tokyo to Kuala Lumpur. Also, in that flight the cabin crew were unfriendly and sullen. Particularly there was a male cabin crew member who was very morose and rude for no reason. When I meet such ill mannered and rude people, I do not get annoyed but sympathize with them for their difficult childhood with parents who could not teach them good manners and politeness. I used to take at least 6 flights every year all round the world till I retired. I never complaint about that person. Nor did I take Malaysian Airlines ever since. Anyhow it is very unfortunate to see that even after so many decades MAS couldn't select polite people with good backgrounds for their cabin staff or train them accordingly.

Two years ago I chose an inland flight with this airline as I wanted to support national airlines generally if possible. But this year I realised with flightradar24 that AirAsia is on time for 95% and very friendly staff. Malaysian airline has usually 30min or more delay. Was only a 2h flight this year with malaysian so I can't judge the service. AirAsia is great.

The crew must know that they were caught misrepresenting the Airline. The evidence was overwhelming that they may receive official reprimand - they will know that they are on a roster. I am so disappointed in Malaysian Airlines after hearing this.

Malaysia airlines is the worst airlines ever. I don’t know whether I just got unlucky but damn. Every flight I took with them ended up having some problem. My first flight with them was extremely delayed, but managed to get on. But when I arrived at the airport. They lost my luggage, and they couldn’t put it on the connecting flight. I had absolutely no idea where my luggage was at the time, and there was absolute terrible miscommunication. They said they would deliver it to my apartment, but it never came. So I ended up going to the airport to collect it myself, and it was there luckily. Then second flight leaving Japan a few weeks later, there were “technical errors” on the plane, and the flight was cancelled ( even after waiting there for like 4-5 hours)So I had to book another nights accomodation and get the next flight. Of course there was delays for this next flight too. Getting the flight out of Kuala Lumpur, for my third flight going back home. The same thing happened. “Technical errors” had to stay a night in Kuala Lumpur , in a hotel they provided in some shabby neighbourhood. Ok, I wake up the next morning, get on the flight to Leave Kuala Lumpur. And guess what? The plane wouldn’t take off. The plane ran through the runway about 3 times, and would refuse to go into the air. I had to stay ANOTHER NIGHT in Kuala Lumpur. Thankfully the next flight the next morning was ok. But I was holding onto my seat, wondering whether they are going to kill me. Wondering whether this plane would actually take off, or them losing my luggage again. I was delayed by 3 nights in a row, because Malaysia airlines don’t have a working aircraft. And this was only last year (early 2018) The in flight food was absolute garbage, and so was the entertainment. Never will fly with them again

Just flew MH004 Kul London on 9th Dec 9:05am. Sat on row24 ABC side. Disappointing service from beginning to end. To be honest this is my first economy class long haul flight after 10 years of taking business with various airlines on all other travels, including to London. I was just shocked at how narrow A350 isles and how small seats and small degree recline were. It reminds me of 2 hour flight domestic recline. I was wondering how I would survive the 14 hr journey with such small narrow seat. What made the experience worst was the meal service. During the first meal service, the pilot made an announcement that hot drinks will not be served due to turbulence which wasn't existent. Not the first time I experience this as I also hear the same announcement on domestic flight via MH as well. It's always suspending hot drink service. Oh yes, no meal cards or meal info on board so it's kind of playing dart just get what they offer. Don't even know what kind of drinks they can serve on board. After few hours into the flight, there was another snack service and to my surprise, the sandwich was served cling wrap handed out like that, no plate, no paper plate. Yikes! We have to put the sandwich on the seat tray directly how hygienic is that? Then my little boy asked for some chocolate drink, or hot milo, so we pressed call button and asked for it. We were told by the crew that milo is only available on business! Wow..didn't know milo is that high class, so no options for kiddies at all in economy class except same juice throughout or water. But the fact that the crew mentioned only available on business is sort of implying that we are now in economy so if you want milo please pay for business. DUH! but she managed to get some of my little boy and another cup for another passenger behind us. Overall for 14 hour journey we felt deprived of food and drinks, with so little or no option and variety or snacks. And MH should totally stop serving peanuts on board as some passengers are highly allergic of peanuts. This has been the same practice since inception maybe, and even though times have moved, MH is stuck in old times. I got a knee pain from sitting on that hardly reclinable seat, no foot rest, on 14 hour journey. So not worth the money paid. I would try to avoid MH for long haul next time as the service level has gone down the drains. They could train their crews to be more polite. My husband asked for hot drink and was told to wait as they had only 3 crews working while 3 others were resting. I mean how could this info be communicated to passengers when we only need coffee? Just don't understand what they are trained to do.

Hi Josh, thanks for this review. I've never flown MH and after your review will never fly again. Its about attitude of the staff. We know hard product can vary and other factors affect flights. Second tier Airlines like UL, TG's staff have excellent service where crew exceed expectations. You are correct in calling out the CEO of MH. Not flying MH ever..... Spread the word.

We flew Malaysian 🇲🇾 on a long flight ✈️ to London from Perth Australia 🇦🇺 during the start of the flight we fell asleep when we woke up realised that the meals were dished out cut long story short they served us but but with rudeness I'll never fly with Malaysian Airlines again no matter how cheap they are thanks for this Josh I'm a subscriber to you today 😊

I had a terrible flying experience with Malaysia Airlines as well. Flew with them from Auckland to Singapore, transited KL. When I touched down in Singapore, was already tired due to the long flight and I went to collect my baggage. After waiting for thirty minutes, nothing came. I then came to know my luggages were left in KL airport. Amazing.

Got the same experience with flight attendant from Paris-Kuala Lumpur. They same to be picky with their passengers. Only 1 Chinese girl FA who was so nice and always giving good service but the rest of the cabin crew is just horrible & dreadful. Even my flight from Bali to KL on A330 series not that great either even though I keep flying on that airline all the time. As I remember the passenger next to me was offered her meal like creepy dry sandwich for lunch and that’s all we got (NO OPTION at all). Eventually I decided to not flying with them anymore as I guess they’re so much airliners FA who’s still taking care and serve well their customers while onboard like Garuda Indonesia or maybe low cost carriers like Malindo or Air Asia. That’s about it, they need to improve their quality service...like their slogan...service from the bottom of the heart of Malaysian Hospitality.

Hi Josh, i know this airlines from last 23 years, MH was world airlines at one time to today regional airlines. So you can think what could have done, one time MH was competing with SQ and CX and today they are talking competing with AIRASIA and MALINDO ... SAD to see MH has nose dive. From WORLD BEST CABIN CREW to your experience ..... Complete nose dive. No doubt there are some really cool and friendly staff in airlines but by large they are in nose dive situation. Customer Service is least on there agenda. There prime is cost cutting and that really shows sometime into airline function. There were many passionate staff in MH but most has left in last 4-5 years. I know some of them who left for the good. I agree that AIRASIA all star has better environment than MH. Even some of MH crew agreed [ofc not openly, as they need to survive with the job]. Regarding CEOof MH, he must be perfect for operation and techincal but for customer service and marketing,i really dont know what he can do best. None of his interview in public shows that he is passionate to run airlines. Being aviation follower my self i know how tim clark or Leslie Thang [Vistara Air - India] or Goh choon phong [Singapore airlines]. So its expected his way of understanding. Its not necessary that CAPTAIN of flight can run airlines. If that was situation other successful airline could have run with pilot. I hope this beautiful airline {MH} should have better head who knows much better customer service and takle situation. Its not why something went wrong, its matter of handling sitation. When you work it bound to get some bumps but imp is handle sitation with care.

@@katyamq4672 its not about luxury, its about attending situation. I am not saying why that day MAS entertainment service was down or F&B quality error. But it could have done much much better way. Crew has no right to ask what we do and why we criticise there service. Thats opinion shared baased on fact. They should be professional enough to take it easy. ITs not MAS is not good airlines but definately at this point customer service is at nose dive as all attention is at cut cost and bring to profit. Do you see any annoncement for better customer service. few years ago MAS was world best crew and now so low attitude ....

I prefer fly with Singapore Airlines, Emirates, or Garuda Indonesia. I have good experience with them. I believe to Skytrax recommendation.

Sometimes the crew has a bad attitude. I had unfortunate flights on Aeromexico and Alitalia. In the former, it was the ground crew, in the latter, the passengers stealing alcohol. It was foolish of this particular crew to not at least try to reset the individual monitor. And they should have known how intimidating it is to gang jump on a passenger who merely posted his experience. Childish.

I am Australian and have flown MA some years ago and found the service to be fantastic. The cabin crew would go out of their way to assist you above and beyond what would be expected. I know many many Malaysian people and know Malaysians are bright, caring and kind people and by no means does Josh's bad experience define the Malaysian people or their beautiful country. Sadly it seems their must be some kind of morale problem within the airline which needs the attention and nurturing of it's leaders but sadly by the attitude of the CEO it has some rocky road left to travel. To MA Management; do something now to restore this awesome airline to what she truly is.

bs2502 yeah agreed. I have made some complaints to MH directly & they pledge to be better. I flown with them almost monthly basis, all i can say is, its either hit or miss with MH. sometimea u’ll get a friendly n warm set of crews, sometimes u’ll just get “i am just doing my job’’ kind of crews

I have been flying with MH for so many times from London to KL to Jakarta everytime I went back to Indonesia, and I just flew with MH again literally 3 days ago from KL to London. After watching this video I felt so thankful as I have never had any bad experiences like you had. I will be still flying with MH anyway as I always had amazing experience with them (also with the fact that they were cheap, served my favourite food and I didn't have to speak in English to the cabin crews). However, I feel sorry about what happened to you. I hope they will improve their hospitality to be better as soon as they watch your review of them.

I had an experience on Turkish on my flight from LA to Nairobi through Instanbull. My flight was delayed for 3 hours in LA. I subsequently missed my connecting flight to Nairobi from Instanbull. We were required to get a Visa to get to the hotel. It took the airline almost 6 hours to get us to a hotel where there was no diner as it was midnight and apparently the kitchen was closed. They promised to refund us the visa fee. I followed up with calls and mails and just hit a Waterloo!

Unfortunately, this is just classic bureaucracy in Southeast Asia (except for Singapore). Very typical for people to not be able to receive criticism, bullying and just being incompetent in general. This experience is actually a glimpse of our lives here in SEA.
