That delete the faces so you can maintain topology trick was a game changer. Thank you for this tutorial! :) So many other great tips as well.

Thank you! Another little Proportinal Editing tip is hold Shift while scrolling to get an even finer adjustment on the circle (just as you can in other functions, moving, scaling, dragging within editable attribute fields, etc.)

8:32 surely mirror modifier should be at the top of the stack, before SubD? I know you didn’t use mirror here, but it’s such a common feature of hard surface modelling that it’s worth mentioning

Thank you for this tutorial. I am now able to better control the edge flow of my models. I was using extra edge loops before to get that sharp edge and finalizing the shape after applying the multi res.

Inspirational! I alway get stuck in the beginning to get a starting object going. I just realized I was so stuck in a box with non destructive approach, I’m always left with some what interesting looking box with no way to extending it. I love the flow feeling I get to start with this approach. Absolutely subbing Thank you. Not sure any of you coming from gravity sketch background but this makes more sense to me then starting with a box and Boolean ops

thx for these ideas...but some things questions me hard...!? how you creat these red plane bool objects ? I have installed blender 3.4 it doesnt work.. can you show how to corect extruding some edge out to build further up the model, push in some minor details in without using all the time these proportional feature.. how you even distribute the mesh after proportional Edition ? is there some modfier like in 3dsmax or option that helps..? In blender edge extrude goes strange in wild direction..in 3dsmax its shift + mouse clicks..and it works fine..not 4 5 clicks and it goes even wild... p.s. have blender edit poly modifier for non destructiv workflow or is this G.node able or have a non destructiv workflow .. sry Im new to blender..also missing or cant find edge groups to save some crease bevel or smooth groups without selecting all the time again edges... extrude manifold is also strange like this bevel you tryed with these wierd artifacts... blender is really hard to learn the manuel is so short .. helps not really ...

2 days ago I saw that nurbs modeling is the most suitable way for curvy hard surfaces, what do you think of that?
@JoshGambrell
@JoshGambrell 2 жыл бұрын
Nurbs is fantastic, and will create impeccable shading. I always recommend it in conjunction with Blender if you can!
@velstorios9473

@@JoshGambrell So the nurbs modeling that exists in blender is insufficient? Is that why I see people modeling such shapes with SubD modeling in blender and not nurbs?

You only used offset cut on the first boolean you made. Can you also use offset cut on the other two boolenas you have made in the video? I am asking because I can't do the second and further offset cuts.

Why that default cube looking smooth??
@unicornrainbows8612
@unicornrainbows8612 2 жыл бұрын
Not sure, but what I did was add a cube then added a bevel with 0.04 offset, 12 segments and it looks pretty similar to his. The one exception is that in his cube he had only the vertical edges beveled while mine would have all edges beveled. Fixable by scaling the cube on the Z axis so that the boolean looks like his (if that makes sense).
