Regarding the part at the end of the video, I've personally found that when I'm getting "bored of an MMO" it's not that I've actually gotten bored of the MMO, because I still enjoy it just as much as I did before I got "bored of it", it's more that all the people I played it with have moved on to something else, and the fun that I 'was' having with those people (be they friend or not) is no longer there. Thus, the feeling is that of boredom, but in reality, you're just looking for someone to play with.
@ElysianAura
@ElysianAura Жыл бұрын
For me it's a combination of that and a "I've already done a lot of sightseeing and only play for the efficiency sake now". Every time you figure out an MMO, some of that magic of fucking around at Castle Wars fades away a bit (either you stop doing it or you play for skill sake, not necessarily fun).

The problem is that I don't feel old at 38, but a 20 year old would see me as old. In the same way I see a 20 year old as a kid. We have very little in common. I have used cases exactly like the one Josh have since my 20s. And I think it is a "generational thing" rather than a "age thing". We grew up when things actually still had value, so we want to protect our things. The 20 year old changes phone once a year, me as a 38 year old keep our phones for 3-4 years, so they have to survive a few more situations.

I find it still very easy to connect with small kids, old people and animals. But for me this is the case since I have a sense of self, essentially so who knows why. Either people see phone-cases as old thing because their parents have multiple cards (credit or loyalty program cards) and younger people use only one or two OR because most of them use stuff like digital wallets so they "dont need cards". Digital wallets have been out only about 10 years so for someone who is 18 thats pretty much been around since they got first phones.

I have a friend who abandoned their wallet pretty much and just has everything on their phone. However if they lost/broke their phone or ran out of battery, they would be completely screwed. Carrying cards and cash on you in a handy wallet will never not be convenient and reliable.

I use that exact phone case (although in slightly better condition) and I can't give you an estimate of how many times my phone case has helped me with money, notes and other small storage related things. It's easily accessible and smaller, acts as an extra wallet with added screen protection if your phone falls (even if only a little). Additionally you can fold the cover in just the right way to make your phone stand on it's side like you angled two cards together to make a triangle. No need for those pop out things you can put on the back of your phone. Ingenious design. Can't live without it.

I think the reason a wallet phone case is considered an old person thing is because gen alpha/younger z are always on their phones so it gets in the way. Also they have no money or rarely make purchases at in person stores. They most likely use stuff like venmo or apple pay instead of physical cards/cash. Also there has been an uptick in younger people not getting drivers licenses so no need for wallet. Just a few potential reasons i thought up.
@_Lumiere_

I guess that makes sense. Though, I'm gen z and have always used wallet cases. It just feels convenient. The reason why all the ghost children are victorian is because that's right about the worst time to be a child in english history. I mean,in medieval times most children probably wouldn't go to school, but at least they got to be outside and when they were put to work, it would usually be stuff like feeding lifestock or running errands. Which is bound to beat running twelve hour shifts in a clothing factory in order to help your family afford rent for a tiny apartment that's shared with two other large families, every day until you get caught in a steam powered loom and mangled to death.

To my understanding a big bulky leather wallet is a old people thing while having like one of those tiny wallets is a thing for younger people but i'd honestly say the wallet cases are just timeless because it's really just more minimalistic because you'll have your phone anyway with you so why not have it be a card and money holder too, so you literally just need 1 item to have 2 items with you, and you just need your keys. I'd say it'd be more old people thing to have like one of those phone cases that are literally a wallet, like a coin purse, card holder, paper money slot and even a slot for keys in some models, i think that seems more old people thing to have all in one but that also sounds way more minimalistic because you just need to remember one item and especially if you have keyless entry car key you can just put the car fob in there and forget about it, and usually those wallets also have RFID blocking stuff so the car key cannot be hijacked with a device either, literally sounds more like a old people thing.

YO HE GOT MY MOM'S PHONE CASE! The duck tape thing is good, non age thing that everyone should do, I've probably applied tape to every set of headphones I have had, including the ones I have now. I even remember rebuilding my brother's headset with duck tape and paperclips because it's fun.

8:02 made me think about how I've been grinding in maplestory nonstop for the past two weeks and just not having fun, but not wanting to do anything else. Definitely need to step away for a bit. Think this genuinely helped lol

I also have a phone wallet case and I am 19, it means I never forget my ID whenever I go to a bar or get a drink.

I don’t assume those phone case wallets are held by the old, just by the specifically nerdy, like engineers focused on excessive efficiency.

Bought one of those actively because it was an “old person thing”. Most of the plastic wrap cases are utter junk in terms of phone protection, I chose the sensible item not the show-off one.

Phone cases with 2-3 card slots is fine, easy to carry light. If you got one of those big leather ones that fold out that are really a wallet with a phone pocket not a phone case with card holders, those are old people cases

3:43 I mean, if there was a teenager in a room as well as an older person, and I found a phone with a cover like Josh’s, I’d assume it’s the old guy’s, not the young guy’s

Leaders who are getting to the top places and are being super chill too (yes I know what the corporate world is like), are people who were able to be efficient and easy going like you described with people working below them all the way to the top (usually).

I think the reason that the phone wallets went out of fashion was that if your phone gets jacked you've not only lost your phone but all your cards and details and have also lost time spent canceling the cards and waiting for them to be replaced.

It's a regional thing too I feel. I've seen a lot of people in scandinavia have wallet cases, me included, and I'm in my early 20s

It's not an old thing and the poll said so. I would have one now but I couldn't find a decent wallet case for my Pro 6.
