Holy Crap. That was sick! Up till today the gnome was my favorite piece. This tree is absolutely amazing. It fit perfectly into that niche and really made it 110% awesome. Perfect height, the right amount of symmetry and unsymmetrical. Alex and Melissa knew what they were doing when they asked you to do your own sculpture for them.

Alex said it best when he said you both try to recycle people's stuff. I don't think you could have done it any other way, than to make a tree, the symbolizes growth, from discarded things, to a brand new work of art. You really got the scale perfect, the lines and form look wonderful! Your work is beautiful, and as an artist myself, I can appreciate the time, effort, and talent you spent on this piece. What a lovely piece to have put in such a nice home!

I forgot this - Someone mentioned in a comment that you should carry a tape measure in your truck. I prefer your “forearm” measuring tool. It seems like an instinctual, fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants, Josh way to measure.

I love how the tree is so well balanced, not just on its own, but it's perfectly proportioned for the space and the other pieces. It's not too symmetrical, very natural. You got the rugged texture of the trunks of these trees, and the softness of the leaves. When I study trees like this, it's almost like I can feel the exertion they spent on growing and staying alive, to put it in human terms. The sculpture captures this. Happy birthday!
