Agree with shenanigan, wild fire is a little sharper, and a bit clearer, but the rapid fire has the least amount of break-up of the bunch. My second choice would be the Owlrc. @$90 dollars, that would be my overall choice!

The RapidFire GoPro was slightly misaligned. The RapidFire image is not blurry in real life. Unfortunately, this is one of the challenges with recording the goggle screens. Please focus on RF signal quality and image breakup, not image quality, which is difficult to capture with the camera.

RapidFire - sure it costs a bomb compared to the others, but when I upgraded from my Fat Shark antenna diversity module (which served me well for a good 2+ years) there was no way I was picking any other module, because if I bought something cheaper I'd forever be looking at the RapidFire. Sometimes you just have to shell out for the best - Crossfire is expensive, but I don't see many arguments with that one.

Express LRS is a prime example of how good does not to cost a ton. I do have a Rapidfire on the way because as stated earlier, I had the wild fire in the goggles for literally only about and hour testing and setting them up and I turned it off for dinner and then attempted to restart after dinner. That sucker was cold and black. Race Day Quads is going to be replacing it free of charge though. Race Day Quads is one bad ass company who stands behind their customers unlike BangMeGood! I have a quad on order from them from around the first of November and they keep telling me that "It on way, no you worry friend!" I will be buying from in the states from now on. I am finding that prices from them are only slightly lower and in some cases more expensive.

Thanks JB, for continuing analog content. It does still have its place, for now. Maybe not for people who started recently(bought dji). There are a lot of us invested in analog, who haven't been able to transition to digital. I'm slowly transitioning over, and it's due to sharkbyte/HDZero, because the I'm able to use my $400 HD3's, and incrementally go digital. My money, or lack there of, is betting on HDZero. Pretty happy with my $300 transition to digital so far.

STACEY ABSHIRE I actually just switched to rapidfire from true d and have been completely underwhelmed and feel like I’m struggling to get signal as good as I did with true d. I completely lost signal quite close to me the first time I tried it, since then there are occasions where it does seem good but I think I’m going to go back to true d for most flying, rapidfire might be better at holding signal at extreme end of range but seems to glitch out more closer to me.

I thought so also. I FOREVER ran a True-D. I had the 2.x versions, then upgraded when 3.4 or 3.5 came out (bought a new module) and was absolutely happy with it. Then for WHATEVER reason I watched some particular video and liked the LaForge V2 results. RMRC had a sale like the next day, and the LaForge V2 Main module and Diversity were like $60 all together. I was like "sold"! Looking at this, I don't know why I ever sold, I loved my True-D back then, so the 4.0 may just be my next purchase!

I don't own any of these, so I'm not partial. Kinda obvious from watching, isn't it? Rapidfire is far and away the best. If I was to give a 1 to 10 score....The Rapidfire would be a 10, and the closest module to it would "maybe if I'm being generous" be a 7. Did you actually think it was close? If so, go watch it again... ;)
@JoseSierradeLeste
@JoseSierradeLeste 4 жыл бұрын
@@scootroter4859 yeah, but I agree with his position on keeping his opinion to himself: there's more to it than just how it performed. That "7" you awarded cost half as much as the Rapidfire module... And 7 might be good enough (especially if you don't spend a lot of time flying in parking garages, amiright?) If he clearly endorses one over the other, that kinda takes away from his "impartial tester" stance, especially as he has affiliate links. Personally I appreciate that he stays impartial and presents the tests, even if he sometimes lets his opinions leak in (read between the lines, so to speak, and you'll know what he prefers.) As always ymmv.

Another tip with the finder. Sometimes the image is perfectly clear 300 degrees and unclear/noisy 60 degrees or less. In that case you know the vtx/craft is 180 degrees/opposite of the noisy direction. So sometimes you shouldn't look for the clearest image but the most noisy.

Out of all of your videos I’ve seen I didn’t like this one. The reason being we watched a 20min review of these products and you offered no final conclusion. You never said for the money and value “ I feel “ product “ a “ is better. You never said this one out performance these because of ..... Stop worrying about what out people think or disagree with. If they don’t like what you say then they can start their own channel and do their own reviews. People watch you to learn things they don’t know or to grow their knowledge on things that they are already familiar with. There’s no point in a review of at the end you just say “ well there you go, you come up with your own conclusions “. What’s the point of watching your stuff. We could just go online and read the marketing material from each manufacturer and go from there. But we come to you for knowledge. You do awesome work keep that going. Maybe it would be possible (although I know it would be really time-consuming) to go through the first set, Wildfire vs Rapidfire, and total up how many seconds of USABLE image was on each one, during the test... That might give a more empirical result as to which one is performing better. And if this were done on multiple flights with the same modules, it would provide an average that could determine real, actual differences in performance. If I had the time I'd try it myself on these results... What do you say, JB? Worth the effort..? As always, excellent work. You are the Data King!

Josh I have a noob question (tech noob that is). So after your reviews of all those I retained a few things. Rf is a huge plus to keep a clear video signal, functionalities as such presented with this Wilfire are a good thing for any user, even if learning curve and needs for those functions can vary among pilots. And of course the price. So as a noob, I want easy to use but with enough functions to help me get the best of it and of course crisp image even far away or behind structures.... The comparative here show clearly that the Rapid fire keeps the best video feed anywhere, but just by maybe 5m further than the wildfire. Is it a huge improvement for a beginner pilot? Because the price range between this emidels Are a huge thing for a beginner. So far I'd say best seems to be Rapid-fire but ouch for the price.... Then comes the Tru-D X but I've read that the can damage your Dominator HD3...... (screen flash and dead screens etc) so....... Is it safe? I just got my HD3 new for a bargain price at 250$ but dropping again a another 150$ for rapid fire so I can have a good receiver? For sure, I can grow with Rapid fire and not have to replace it when I start flying further away. Damn.... Hard to decide at my level..... Best gear or cheaper one but I'll have to later get a better one.... Feel free to give me your opinion guys, it'll be appreciated 🤯

One thing to keep in mind is that this test is intentionally in the worst possible environment: 25 mW with lots of concrete walls. At 800 mW in clear space, the difference between RF and other modules would be exaggerated, but you would have to fly a lot further to demonstrate it. Frankly, I think any of these modules would be fine for a beginner.

True D 4.0 is around $65, and Rapidfire is almost $150 (I understand he mentioned the price for the sticklers I KNOW are out there lol. He also mentioned the FEATURES as well) nearly triple the amount. Now, watch the comparison again and consider the environment where you usually fly. I understand bias can be a powerful, and I’m not exempt from it. But c’mon now... how more obvious can it be.
@JoshuaBardwell
@JoshuaBardwell 4 жыл бұрын
I really wanted to test True-D 4.0 but it is confusingly available like only in one store but not anywhere else. The reason there is not a HUGE difference between RapidFire and other good modules is that it gets progressively harder to make things better. It's easy to go from 3/10 to 5/10 on the quality scale. It's harder to go from 5/10 to 6/10. And to get from 7/10 to 9/10 is nearly impossible. So if RapidFire is only 20% or 15% better than a competitor half its price, that is actually about right. There is no question that RapidFire provides the most stable image, the longest range, under the widest variety of environments, compared to anything else on the market today. The only question is whether that additional percent is worth you paying for.

I loved the quality of image that I saw in this video of the Wildfire but totally disappointed in the image quality of the Rapidfire. However, being that the Rapidfire delivered a flyable image longer that's a tough one to beat. If only I needed either one it would be a hard choice for me to make. *Great Job JB!*
@JoshuaBardwell
@JoshuaBardwell 4 жыл бұрын
You really can't judge image quality from a GoPro stuck in a screen. There are too many variables that are impossible to control, no matter how hard I try. You should use these results to judge the breakup and signal quality only.
@itsme-fr5fr
@itsme-fr5fr 4 жыл бұрын
It's not the module that is making it blurry it's how the camrea view's the screen hence why every module tested on that set of goggles has the same blurry look to it. Like j.b. said this test is strictly to show how much breakup you get and has nothing to do with image quality

@@JoshuaBardwell - I get what you are saying, however, my only choice was to go with what I am seeing. The Wildfire was consistently clearer in every video so I wondered if that was just the case of those goggles being slightly better for some reason, but then some of the other modules had a better image on the right side than the Rapidfire so what am I left with? Somewhat confused...but I get it now. Thanks for "clearing" up that misconception.

I've recently been having issues with rolling and complete disconnecting with my rapidfire hdo setup. Within 30ft direct sight. I'm assuming it's either the rush vtx or foxeer camera cuz I've never used either. Glad you explained the sync lock time cuz I assuming the opposite about those settings.

In my opinion most of you already know the rapid fire is way better. You all just want him to say tbs is better so you can pull the trigger. If you do the first time you drop video you will be wanting the rapidfire so I would just bite the bullet and spend the extra $30 or you will most likely be disappointed. For me bad break up or video loss costs me around $30 in props motors and antenas every time I fly. It seems to me it pays for itself. Not to mention all the down time. Hell I still haven't found my last quad after I lost video over alfalfa field that was too tall to be flying over. That cost me $300. I'm getting rapidfire but nobody has them in stock.

I am pleased with the reception and from what i have seen in youtube it seems to me that the only one that would make a difference is the rapidfire . It would be a pity to buy a module and have no difference at the reception.

I wish youd include the clearview groundstation in these side-by-sides. I still think its the gold standard for raw video performance (it obviously sucks on convenience and price) and think it serves as a useful benchmark for comparisons. Would also be interested to know which module was on the goggles you were flying through when recording
@JoshuaBardwell
@JoshuaBardwell 4 жыл бұрын
CV groundstation did not consistently outperform Rapidfire in previous tests. At 2x or more the price, and with a groundstation vs. module, I don't agree that it's definitely the gold standard of what people will actually choose to use. Testing takes time, and it's necessary to be selective about which modules get time spent testing them. The focus is on modules that people are likely to use.

For sure! That's what I have Aomway's with the Skyzone module adapter. I just don't want to spend $150 for the Rapidfire. But, it is CLEARLY far superior. I can't believe others here are debating the issue. The Rapidfire is a 10 and the closest thing to it is MAYBE a 7. Not even close! What are they seeing that I'm not? Plus, don't even think of buying new goggles! Digital FPV is here, and more is coming. Just wait until around July....a new product accidentally leaked at the consumer electronics show CES in Jan 2020 will come out somewhere around then that will make you never want to use analog again!!!!
