❤❤❤ here’s to hoping I can finish the 2011 Recap this week ❤❤❤

Josh's comment about how a lot of topping decks from edison era were not "good" but were played because people didn't want to let their old decks go is a very real thing even to this day in modern yugioh, and in my opinion it's one of the most fun ways to play the game, i love the fact that legacy support exists and that if i like an older deck like pendulum or unchained i can just make use of the new support from the last few sets and make good deck out of that and bring it to an event. I mean look at tearlament, it's been more than a year and people are still breaking their minds trying to figure out how to make the deck work even with all the bans, deck attachment is a very real thing ingrained into the origins of this game and i personally love that about yugioh.

Obviously Edison is dope but I have a soft spot for the window after duelist rev and the banlist but before starstrike blast. There are cool cards to build with like the scraps, horn of phantom beast, genex neutron, Koaki mieru bergzak and more that historically got ignored bc infernity/frog/x saber were so strong. Duality despite the price tag really helped less powerful decks compete and is still the most balanced draw spell
@MrGshinobi Жыл бұрын
PREACH! Edison felt like the beginning of the true 5ds era that left the corpses of GX decks like glads, DaD, lightsworns, monarch, etc behind and would see brand new and innovative decks come into their own, but it was just the beginning and lacked a lot of the more interesting stuff from the rest of the future 5ds sets.

People really dogging on Feindish chain, like they can't imagine the game being in a state that allows for a generic monster negate with somewhat specific downsides to be good. It's like looking at mirror force and saying it's ass because of it's obvious flaws, and just conveniently ignoring all the success it saw.

@@Pleia_Ds if u ever have A LOT of time in ur hands. Going through old ARG replays is very entertaining. First of all, its sweet to get some yugioh history lessons. Secondly, it’s the only coverage of competitive yugioh from back then and there are tons of hilarious moments or player meltdowns and stuff like that. Another good one is Nizar Sarhan round four at the ARG 20K where he decrees his opponent and the dude starts crying about how Nizar should have started popping his backrow for some reason

Infernity Inferno was kinda busted for the deck tbh--dump everything to setup and just 1 Archfiend SS will let you end on 3 barriers + break + doom dragon 3x Hundred Eyes loop combo was INSANE

On the Doomcalibur Gadget list, I remember even at the time that nobody understood how that deck won anything. I distinctly recall old Robbie Kohl videos where he talks about how he had no clue how that deck won.

I believe during the History Episode (Cimo) they indeed mentioned that the community that still plays the format says the deck was just a fluke and it shouldn't even be considered when tiering the decks from back then.

Machine decks had the best generic support, they did need to be balanced, but they probably did overbalance them, Limiter removal and Machine dupe are insane back in the day, and the machines themselves are usually very good with powerful effects while usually being stand alone threats on board just by virtue of having fat bodies. No other type can OTK as effectively while maintaining as much utility.

59:02 I do wanna say that I looked into Rodrigo as much as I could and he got a DCL ban in 2018 but theres no info on it, just people talking shit because he's a magician and suspected of cheating in YGO. No proof anywhere and Rodrigo posts daily/weekly on his youtube channel playing Magic online. (that doesn't absolve him, honestly don't see much on his channel around the 2018-2019 period so could be sus but only that still) Also as an incentive for anyone else to go check it out if you see this comment, he has videos on YCS london 2013 where Josh does a deck profile playing dragon rulers 😉.

I believe there are exactly 2 reasons why infernity isnt still good. 1. Launcher is limited. 2. Prevalence of Hand traps.
@TheStreetScientist Жыл бұрын
Modern infernity if it had 3 launcher is putting up 9-11 negates. The combos today are 1-2 card combos. Launcher can’t come to more than 1.

I really hope it never comes back without an errata. Infernity combos are a special breed of time wasting pseudo FTK.
@TheStreetScientist Жыл бұрын
@@geek593 it won’t get an errata. If they change it here, it has to change in the OCG. To be frank, it has a draw back of not having cards in hand. No hand traps. It’s kill or bust

why is josh pronouncing german words like bochum with an american pronounciation. don't get me wrong I think its fine in cases like munich where the entire word is different but it makes no sense to use the wrong pronounciation.
@peanutbuttereggdirt1 Жыл бұрын
Because he’s talking in English, and in English, Bochum is pronounced the way he said it. You may as well ask why he’s pronouncing “legal” “statue” and “name” in the English pronunciation. Because he’s speaking English.
@xCorvus7x Жыл бұрын
If you speak English (more or less) without an accent, i. e. you pronounce everything according to some English vernacular, switching to German pronunciation for singular words can be somewhat of an effort. It's conceivable that this is just vocal flow to him and not a conscious decision.
