He was talented from the 70's to about 85ish, then his drive and talent faded from the stress and abuse of drugs and alcohol. Arnel Pineda is the Steve Perry that never was and should have been. One that hasnt been seduced into his greed and fame. He's no steve perry, but he's a damn good successor to carry a brighter torch.

For me, AP is not only amazing because he can sing Journey songs and almost sound like SP. It's amazing the way he handled himself with the band and facing thousands of fans. Rose Reichert Although this was not written by SP. Neither was Wheel in the Sky and Faithfully. Even if he comes back, it will no longer be the same. As much as i love rock and roll and i will definitely pay $$$$$ to see Led Zeppelin, Guns n Roses, Journey and Queen live during their golden days, it will no longer be the same since like gene of KISS said recently, Rock was killed. Journey is the most accomplished today as compared to the other bands of their era though.

Jay Pi Good luck with ever spending any amount of money to see Led Zep. It is not going to happen. If you are open minded, the brand new Robert Plant "Lullaby and the ceaseless roar" is incredible. The first video for Rainbow has to be watched about a dozen times to appreciate all that is going on visually. Re: Journey, there are a few tunes that Steve Perry did not contribute writing credits to. However, 90 percent of that catalog has everything about him on it. Re: Queen, they are in my top four all time favorites, and probably one of the best at moving on and yet keeping the essence of the band and Freddie's memory intact. As a freaky co-incidence, Jeff Scott Soto did one on the Queen conventions. The man has more talent than 90 percent of the industry today. The co-incidence factor being that he took over with Journey, when Steve Augeri couldn't sing. They (Neal) even briefly called him their new lead singer. That combination could have produced some new, interesting, significant music. JSS is such a natural talent and too cool for labels. However, he wasn't a Steve clone and was kicked to the curb. Back to your point, I would love to see Steve Perry come out with new music and a new kick ass band. So many years have passed, and the simple history of how they reacted to his needs and issues, ruined everything. They dumped as many problems as they could on Perry. Schon wasn't exactly at his best during his own struggle with demons. As much as I love the original music from old Journey, as much as I appreciate the amount of time Steve Perry spent doing all of the remasters, his obvious feelings to the heritage of the band are strong. The bottom line is this, if you have truly paid attention to what went down, Steve Perry never needs to deal with those back-stabbing bastards ever again. UNLESS of course, they finally get their place in the R&R Hall of Fame. I guess they could all just suck it up for a few hours, like they did for the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
