This man spoke extremely broken English when he joined Journey but ripped those songs off like a friggin BEAST on stage! Even Perry himself commends Pineda for his amazing vocals that so closely mirror his own. Pineda isn't "copying" Perry's sound. LOL He's using what God gave him. Period. He's KILLING it. PINEDA is the one who is keeping Journey's legend alive and doing a fabulous job of it. Don't get me wrong. I am a Steve Perry die hard fan. I was thinking the same thing. So I'm watching this and then towards the end of the clip, Arnel drops his microphone and stops singing. The only problem is the audio is still going. Steve Perry was and has been the heart and soul of JOURNEY!! He wrote the songs and should just continue on his own. Journey needs him, not the other way around. If you get the chance watch the rock and roll hall of fame ceremonies. Steve will show you what an extreme class act he is. When you hear them together, you can tell Steve Perry's voice is more refined. Arnel is great, but Steve is really the better singer. Comparatively, Arnel's voice sounds sharp in comparison.

I've loved this song and band for Decades. Steve of course will always be the voice, No disrespect to Arnel. But one guy was the voice. The other guy grew up listening to the song as all the rest of us have and imitating the voice.

Oh so close. I've been a serious musician for over 35 yrs and I def have good ears for tone & pitch. These guys sound very close. We all love Steve for being the originator and a great lyric writer but Arnel's vocal tone is very similar. I also like that Arnel doesn't try to phrase every note & vibrato just like Steve. That little bit of originality is just enough to not make it like cheesy Karaoke. And the fact that Arnel is the sweetest & most humble guy in the world is just a big bonus. That makes you want to root for him.
