One of the best Journey songs, the harmonies are great between Greg and Steve.

Their best album, imo, before Gregg Rolie was phased out and Jonathan Cain from The Babys was brought in to give the band a pop-rock sheen (granted, it paid off commercially).

That’s the original lead vocalist/keyboardist Gregg Rolie sharing the mic with Steve Perry. This is from Journeys 4 album but this first with Steve Perry as the lead vocalist. **Gregg was also the original lead vocalist/ keyboardist for Santana

Can't listen to this without the transition. It's the way the album went, and that's the only way to hear it.

Lights and Stay Awhile are also meant to be playd together. Magical. Perry and Schon had instant songwriting chemistry; Patiently came out of their first session.

This is PEAK Journey for me! ZZ Top Waitin for the bus and Jesus just left Chicago is another must duo, the record was pressed with both songs being too close by accident and radio jumped on it - DJ's loved it for bathroom breaks. My favorite ZZ Top song is Jesus just left Chicago - again Peak ZZ Top for me...Boston Foreplay/Longtime is another common duo purposely linked in that case.

There's also a live version from the "Midnight Special" TV show, which is also awesome. You can see Steve, Neal and Greg making eye contact with each other to keep the handoffs tight. Also Steve dancing and playing air guitar with his mike stand.

One of my favorite Journey songs. Seems the perfect song to transition Steve Perry into the band, and combines their previous song/harmony style with the upcoming Steve Perry Journey.

One of my top favorite Journey tunes-yes, they both together. It's just the rules of life, of music, lol. Gotta follow the rules and you did. In all seriousness, Infinity is my favorite Journey album. EPIC. And, then there is Steve Perry-in my 5 top male voices of rock.

Great band. Great musicianship. Being a songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist myself, l had the fortunate pleasure of getting to meet the Drummer for Journey in person. However, it wasn't this Drummer playing here. This Drummer playing on this album is Ansley Dunbar. Who also played for Jefferson Starship and on the Whitesnake album "Still of The Night". The Drummer after him was Steve Smith, and he's the one who l met at a drum seminar. Great musician and a very nice person.. You had a good reaction to the songs.

As others have mentioned, their keyboardist and previous lead singer Gregg Rolie shared vocals with Steve Perry on these tunes (and a number of others in the first few albums when Steve Perry came aboard.) By the way, the band itself played these two together live. You mentioned whether Neal Schon might have been the other lead singer... believe it or not he actually DID share lead vocals with Steve Perry on one song... "People and Places"... a deep cut that I HIGHLY recommend.

This album was very popular at my high school in 78. I sawbthem in 80. It was the last tour Greg Rolie did with them. He played organ and sang lead vocals on early Santana albums. Steve Perry was amazing live - sometimes singing more parts and higher notes than on the albums. Neal Schoen was fantastic on guitar.

First time I heard this I was working at a record shop. I had seen Journey in concert before this and was a fan, but now they had this new singer called Steve Perry. So different, but really good. Brilliant to put those songs back to back. I think it was intended because the pause between tracks is shorter than normal.

i agree that rolie and perry's voices sounded great together, and frankly rolie was a better keyboardist than jonathan cain, who replaced him. infinity is the only album that featured both greg rolie and steve perry. i honestly wish greg had stayed with journey.

Hearing you talk about Wheel In The Sky reminded me of the John Mellencamp album (and song) Human Wheels. But the banger on that album is a song I haven't seen any reactor react to; What If I Came Knocking. If you like bold, heavy percussion, you'll love that song! Can I get an Amen?

These two together are the best songs off of the best Journey+ Steve Perry lineup. IMO. After This first album Greg Rolie forced to take the back seat in vocals and Steve Perry became main vocalist. The powers that be rubbed me the wrong way with that move. Son's get me wrong, went forward with many hits but, with the dual vocals as on Infinity, I honestly believe they would've been so much better musically and as a band.

You wouldn’t be wrong to listen to this entire album. It is a masterpiece. The entire album…not a bad song anywhere on this album. Not bad for 1978. Still one of my absolute favorite albums of all time. Lights or Winds of March from this album should be your next reactions. Opened The Door is a deep track on this album that I really really love. Journey On.

Great review! I am stuck in the 79s, loved journey. Interesting fact though: Later on in their run, lead singer Perry, who is known as one of the greatest leads ever (up there with Paul Rogers of Bad Company) left and was replaced by a singer that imitated him as a kid and sounds exactly like him!
