@beavis4play You are nuts..they are every bit the vocalist he WAS. You probably haven't even heard any of these guys...moron. and in Rik Emmett's case, a world class guitarists. Rik's tone is unmatched...watch his '83 US Festival performance..Steve even complimented Rik on his vocals when Triumph open for Journey at the Rose bowl...he could hit an F#..the fourteenth fret on the first string of a guitar EVERY NIGHT. I am not saying Steve isn't great, but there are others just as good. Steve was a great R&B singer, but not that great of a rock singer...screechy on his high notes.

@@beavis4playYou have no clue..go watch Rik in Triumph's '83 US Festival performance, or Ian Gillan with Deep Purple sing Child In Time and get back with me novice. Steve is grea, but other people are just as good. Steve even complimented Rik after a performance at the Rose Bowl, when they opened for Journey...couldn't believe Rik's vocals..and a world class guitarist to boot. I would argue that Neal's guitar sound is as much of the Journey sound as Steve....instantly recognizable tone/sound! Rik could hit an F#...the fourteenth fret on the first string of a guitar EVERY night, with a BEAUTIFUL CLEAR TONE...you don't know shit.

Neal Schon is a guitar prodigy. He started Journey. Steve Perry came on board in 1978, on their "Infinity" album. Steve's vocals and Neal's guitar became the most potent one-two punch in rock history, in my opinion. They played off each other so well, and the songs they wrote together are just phenomenal.

Journey always rehearsed for tours in warehouses to perfect their set list and sound. Lights is from the first official recording with Steve as tgeir lead vocalist Infinity in 78/79 and Stay Awhile is from their third recording the Departire album frim 80 as well as their Kourney Captured Live recording from their Departure Tour. Steve and the band put the two songs together on the Departure tour and pretty much kept them together in a similar fashion to their Feeling that Way/Anyway track on Infinity and that tour.

I have seen the "Osaka concert" several times and I am blown away every time. The same goes for the "Escape concert", Journey live is just perfect. Nobody sings like Steve and his charisma and stage presence is unbelievable. But the whole band was always perfect, so incredibly well-rehearsed. It's a shame it broke up, Journey without Steve is no longer the same

Yes, "Lights" from their album "Infinity" and "Stay Awhile" from their album "Departure." This concert was recorded with numerous tracks released as their album "Captured." And your mention, Harri, of lead singers and lead guitarists spawns a unique item from this era of Journey: Guitarist Neal Schon and vocalist Steve Perry are co-lead singers on exactly one song... "People and Places," which was also on the "Departure" album.
@dupersuper65166 ай бұрын
This entire concert was not used on captured. Captured is a compilation live album with different dates, like Huston and Detroit, along with Japan. The entire gig was recorded and exists in its entirety, but not on captured

Wooow Steve Perry!!!

Neal was in his Junior year at Aragon High when he was approached by Carlos Santana. Then shortly after he was offered a chance to join a new group by Eric Clapton. Derek and the Dominoes. Then he was contacted by someone else, Mike Bloomfield, IIRC. Heady stuff for a 17 year old.
