This is one of the best versions of "Lights". Damn that man could sing.

Anybody notice that Steve always was respectful and generous to the other band members-from even the earliest videos he never tried to upstage them. Whenever any of them had a solo he would go to the back of the stage, or turn his back and interact with the drummer-so that the spotlight wasn't on him during their moment to shine. Actors talk about someone being 'generous' during performances. This has to be the musical version-once again demonstrated by his classy statement to Oprah 10/5.

I have always noticed that he never tries to outshine them as well, but I must admit , as long as Steve is in sight I always look at him til I can't see him anymore.

If one were to collect all these youtube clips you could get four complete concerts. Since all these were obviously professionally filmed it mystifies me why these languish on the web without a proper polished DVD release. Who the hell do we have to talk to to get this done? Steve, Neal, CBS? Come on.

Perry really sounds strong the few songs I have heard from this performance. I would love to have a copy of the whole concert. Does anybody have Dixie Highway or Lovin u is Easy from this show? I know that both were played.

@zenfrodo Respectfully disagree, in that every lead singer finds something to do during instrumental solos, but he would actually go so to a place where the spot would often not even illuminate him, or he would physically move out of range, sometimes even out of sight so that he wasn't visually front/ center. & distracting. Think Jagger always swaggering so that you visually see him, Lennon/McCartney still being equidistant on the stage regardless of who was singing lead,

I think Steve had a cold. If you check out the "Keep on Runnin'" segment on the AEW7 video from the same night, his nose is running big time (kind of ironic, given the name of the song)! His face looks kind of flushed at times too, like he had a fever. But he still rocked, despite it all!
@gluchnurse15 жыл бұрын
Can't agree that Cain has a good singing voice. It doesn't make you cringe, but any of the kids in my son's high school chorus sing far better. His strength is definitely as a keyboardist and songwriter. I noticed in the recent Journey concert footage that he is playing guitar as much as they keyboards. Wonder why? He certainly is never going to compete with Schon in that arena-whereas his keyboard skills really are great. Yes, Cain was part of the songwriting team-but his own albums don't sell.

Turn Around Tokyo is an unbelievably awful song. Cain brought too much of a pop sound to Journey. It sounds like the theme tune to a dyer sit-com.

@gluchnurse He's not doing anything that any other lead singer of any other band does. You're crediting "generousity" to actions that simply stem from Steve not having anything to do during those parts and clearing off the stage -- just as other band members do in other bands. It's like saying the other band members are "generous" too, because they clear off the stage during Smitty's drum solos on the Escape vid. *sigh*
