My girlfriend gave birth today. I always listened to this album a lot while she was pregnant. Holding our baby girl today, I could hear this song playing in my head. I Felt like thrash. We tried getting rid of her twice but she wasnt going nowhere. Looking at her today I just couldn’t hold my tears back, they thought it was joy, but I was heart broken I tried to get rid of her. Daddy love you AUDREY Thanks guys. She’s doing great, we celebrated her one year birthday last month. This past year has been amazing.

3:13 "I can't believe I tried to hurt you, I hope you forgive me." I love that. That is *deeply* personal and that's the type of emotional depth and vulnerability music is missing nowadays. Artists make "emotional" music all the time but they don't bare their soul. This man made his guilt and anguish over almost aborting his son into a song for millions to listen to. That takes balls. Asking for forgiveness. That takes balls and is very vulnerable. I respect that.

I grew up without a father , then was raised by another man. Both was flawed but I respect them for what they are . I look at my son now and realize I could never be nothing but a dedicated father . I take every breath now for my two sons . This song makes me feel something when I’m feeling low. I’m gonna be something for my children and they will one day know that I struggled for everything that I gave them . And I’m not ashamed . I remember rubbing two nickels together just to figure how to pay bills . Thank you Joyner for speaking the words of how I once felt . To all this fathers out there I hope god bless you man. I see you homies

I had my daughter at 16. Before her I had no motive in life and didn’t know what I wanted to be. I got Kicked out from home because I was pregnant so then I was homeless and pregnant but I pulled through found a place to stay, got a job and finished high school. No one was at my graduation but me and my daughter. I just finished a qualification and currently studying business to eventually start my own. My daughter is my motivation to live and keep doing what I have to do for US.

A lot of women here posting experiences of being pregnant with a kid or not ready etc but no guys, so I guess I'll go first. This song is one of the deepest songs from Joyner for ME. I'm sure others have deeper. You see, my real dad found his band more important than me and my mother & I grew up fighting physically & mentally with my step father. I didn't start seeing my real dad till older & it was shitty bouncing back and forth. When my dad was hospitalized and found near death the first time, I remember sitting there looking at him in the hospital bed and wanting so badly to feel sad or cry but I couldn't. I felt like a piece of shit. Anyways skip to the future, I was with a girl and our relationship began to fall apart & we were taking a break/prob gonna break up but then she called one day telling me she was pregnant. My heart sunk, I got depressed AF, my life felt like it was over. I kind of low key always wanted to be a dad one day, but I wasn't ready, and for damn sure not with a relationship that's falling apart because I know he/she would end up growing up the same way I did. Sharing parents. I didn't want that. I told her something I always felt like I could never say.. I asked if she would get an abortion. A discussion happened which turned into a deserved argument toward me and she hung up. Later on after clearing my head I called her back and we talked a lot. I told her the reason why I considered it, I know it's selfish etc. So we came to an agreement that we can try to make our relationship work for the kid. There was ups and downs, but the baby was bringing us together. My anxiety turned into.. anxious/excitement? Knowing I was gonna be a dad & have a family of my own. The worst news followed a few months later though.. When she got pregnant she had an IUD. Even though she got it removed, there is still a chance of a miscarriage if you get pregnant with one. And that's what happened.. It fucking hurt, and I'm sure it hurt her even harder. The relationship went to shit and we split up for good. And the most fucked up part that I feel bad about.. Is that I'm relived that the miscarriage happened. And I know it's so wrong to think that, but I can't help it. This song always makes me feel bad remembering when I wanting my unborn child to die, when I actually started looking forward to keeping them and thinking about how my life would be with them here now. Ultimately the song makes me feel like a piece of shit but it also makes me feel other ways. Idk, I can go on and on, but rant over. Thanks for listening.

Having a kid can ruin your life (incredibly expensive, stressful, exhausting etc). It can also be the best thing that ever happens to you. It's not like it's a personal thought against you, as in who you are now

Same here, I'm adopted I've never met my birth parents. My adopted parents which are my real parents ask me do I want to meet my birth mother. I'm not ready yet. I'm 26 but she has mental issues and I just don't want to be hurt or anything I guess. At the same time I don't want her to die and I never at least saw her face. Life's crazy....

This song hit real deep for me. Went thru a similar phase in my life. When i was pregnant with my secind daughter my baby daddy was in and out if jail, running the streets, difderent night with a different girl while im at home faithful and worrying doing it all on my own. One day he came home and brought the girl for that week home and kicked me out. I had nowhere to go, no one who would take me in or help me. I remember crying and telling myself that i couldnt bring my baby into such a cruel unforgiving world with absolutely nothing. At the time i wasnt thinking straight and thought it be best if she never was born and had to go thru all of lifes bs. I was 8 months due in 3 weeks. I tried taking my life and my babys and swallowed a whole bottle of blood pressure pills as i left his house. Went down to my friends house and her dad found me in the bathroom almost passed out, almost gone and took me to the ER. The doctor told me when i came to that if i had gotten there 2 minutes later than when i arrived i wouldve been gone for good. I thank God daily that i didnt succeed and she came out with nothing wrong with her. And just like this gentlemans words say, i hope she can forgive me one day.

i listen to this 5 years ago when my life was in a manageable position recently my life has been pretty horrible and it got worst that my mom who believes she is the holiest person alive said to my face that she wished she never had me and as i left the house planning on listening to my intrusive thoughts i just started humming this song in my head and it calmed me down so i thank you joyner because i was this close to ending my self this day but your art stopped me

Its the ebbs and flows man I went from a good position in life to sleeping with demons and I would never want to go back. Whatever you do keep your head and look towards the future, it doesn't have to be perfect but sunny and calms days always come back around.💙🌌

This generation should recognize and appreciate the talent this man has. He is one of if not the best story teller hip hop has ever witnessed. I’m sure blessed to have witnessed a the abilities of this man. It’s like witnessing an Ali fight. I’m an 80’s baby so I don’t have any recollection of the hype which surrounded Mohammad Ali. But I did get to witness Michael Jordan , Michael Jackson, Mike Tyson, the start of the internet, and this man joyner lucas.

Nykeira Alston it's probably about how he wanted his girl to abort the baby she got pregnant with but then felt guilty after seeing his son grow up Also probably just about how one might feel due to an unexpected pregnancy I may be wrong but there this app called "rap genius" download it It explains the meaning of songs

the song talks about how in the beginning before he had the baby he was a dickhead to it he wish he was never born but then he realizes how Much he loves it and wishes he took back what he said but he can't so he is just asking for forgiveness when his son finds out what he said about em and what he thought about em

denharo francis not really, many people are confused about it. It was called like this because the definition of "rap" is sharp blow and it was what it looked like them when they were rapping over a beat. Over the years people thought it was an acronym

(Please read if you have the time) I rarely write comments in videos but I thought I had to. I can relate to this song so much right now, every word Joyner said is what I recently when through. I'm only 19 years old and close to having my first Child, I remember first hearing the news and thinking to myself like I'll never do this, I don't want this, I ain't ready. I even told me partner to have an abortion, "cause it's not like the things alive," I couldn't stand telling my parents. My initial though was that they would disown me, Time went on and I understood more on how much it meant to her, and how much it would mean to me. So we decided to have it. I was barely getting an income of money, but I was confident on everything I did. Tried my best to stay positive. We both went along with everything and I eventually told me parents and close friends. It was a rough road getting everything through my head, but I wouldn't change any of it. In I couple of weeks time I will be staring in the eyes of my first daughter. Wish me luck🌹 EDIT: (This truely is insane on how much support I have received here. I've read every comment on this post and have acknowledged every single one of you. It seriously means a lot hearing everyones love and support for me and my daughter. I would reply to every single one of you if I had the time, but I hope you people realise on how thankful I am. Thank you for the prayers and luck you guys have wished me. I know this sounds weird but its more support I've ever received. As for my darling. She is great, she is close to being 6 weeks old and its all going so far. If you guys would like to see her I have a few photos on my Instagram (Just type up my name and you should find me). And as for me, I'm fine, taking everything one day at a time. Still no job, but of course I'm applying for everything on the market. Once again, much love to all you guys!)

This is EXACTLY what I went through 5 years ago. My son is 4 now and I cannot explain the love one can have for their child. This song made me tear up with how accurate it was. I ended up getting out of the Army the week before he was born and was homeless 6 months later because of his mom's greed. Yes, it has gotten better, and yes we still go though it...BUT, he is fully worth it. Just damn, thank you Joyner Lucas.
