1. American Sound - Based on the 57 Bandmaster and can also sound like other classic Fender amps including the Fender Twin and '65 Deluxe Reverb for example
2. The British Sound - Can replicate the classic sounds of Marshall amps including the JCM900, the Blues Breaker, and more.
3. The AC-Tone - AC-30/AC-15 Heaven. These sound like the Classic VOX Amplifiers from clean to stinging and singing lead tones

Great tip for recording and live work. Connect guitar to your drive or eq pedals first (compressor volume wah overdrive fuzz distortion etc) then into the Joyo of your choice, after the Joyo go into your delay, modulation and reverb pedals. If any of the last pedals is stereo put that at the end of the chain then run a pair of cables to the PA or recording input for a monster stereo sound. I have had great results using a Mooer Red Truck multi effect using the send and return to insert the American sound between the drive effects and the mod/delay effects then stereo out to PA. If I use amps instead I just switch the Joyo off.

For the people asking if these pedals can be used with an amp...of course they can, I have a 120 watt Bugera with 200 cab ...I use the American Sound and it sounds absolutely fantastic...there's so much versatility in tone from this pedal, at the price they are being sold, it's really a no-brainer. @@TheMudman01 I thought so. I mostly use these type pedals as a colorful boost or a bit of mild overdrive. SRV had a great - not quite over driven - tone when he played clean. Good demo Shane. Thanks for comparing these but to me they all sound so similar i wouldn't be surprised if you could get near the exact tone of one of the pedals with any of them at non extreme settings using the powerful eq and voice controls. I own a marshall 2203 and vox AC15 TBR ( greenback ) and whilst they do have some of the character of those amps, they don't strike me as that similar. The fender one on the other hand has that fender vibe so i bought that one ( i own a boogie and not a fender so have no comparison there ) but your deluxe A/B was pretty convincing.

They are fantastic pedals! I play in a band direct to PA, and use the AC Tone, it sounds fantastic! It slayed the tech21, within 10 seconds I was trying to make the tech21 sound like the joyo; knew the joyo won that battle. Since then I've added a cab sim to it and now the tone is spectacular! I own several nice tube amps, but with these pedals it's so much easier to get the band's balance right.

Great demo. Bring a fender fan i bought the American to warm up a sterile digital effects unit. I was so impressed i bought the acetone. And a free years later the british. I was never planning to buy all three,i don't want to much gear, especially as my amp simulator is pretty good. But having these in pedal format with EQ knobs is so much easier than twiddling the multi effects unit. I like them all! The fender one the best. I tried the California, it was the only one i didn't take to. They do get noisey at high gain settings though,but back then of a tad and they're fine. Actually it's been an education, Led Zep tones are not everything cranked and lower gain than I expected.

After watching your videos I picked up a British dirt cheap. Chose that one because it seemed the ACtone was a bit muddy and the American was a bit grainy to me at the higher gain stage. Actually ended up replacing my OD pedal on my board with the British. At higher gain it is a bit noisy but I was able to find a sweet spot to use with my single channel tube combo. Nice thing is is if my amp craps a little cable re-route and right into the board at the gig.. always good to have a backup plan :)

One question that has not been addressed anywhere is how it sounds stacked in front of other pedals. While I know that is not what is is designed for it works just fine using it as a overdrive in the first position or pushing my GV2 over the top. I use three dirt pedals. EH Metal Muff for my new metal heavy D, Marshall GV2 for my meat and potatoes modified Marshall sound and the Joyo British for my overdrive sound. I do use a MXR Smartgate to remove hiss after these, and it does help quite a bit. I play in a rock dance covers band on the weekends and the British gives me that Stones, SRV and CCR sound better than any pedal I have ever owned. I run it into a clean all tube Kustom Defender. I'm going to pick up a second just to have as a backup. At the cheap price why not? Rock on :)

@diecinuevemx
@diecinuevemx 3 жыл бұрын
@@luisangelEXALTA the radar is an IR loader/speaker simulator, it gives the feel of a real amp and it's perfect for going DI. The speaker simulation is something the AC and the american lacks of and when you pair it with the radar it really makes a diference. Think of it like both the ac and the american are going to be your "amp heads" (or preamps) and the radar is gonna be your cabinets. Also a good thing about the radar, is that its got a power amp section where you can choose from different tubes types, that also changes the tone/sound, so with the radar you get a ton of combinations to get yourself the tone you like.

Would these be useable as a headphone amp or would you have to get one after it? I've got a baby in the house and that has made using an amp a no-no. I've tried using a Zoom 505II and my pocket pod as headphone amps, but they don't take pedals well at all, particularly drive pedals. I'm thinking of getting something that sits on my pedalboard with an A/B switch to choose between the amp and the headphones (possibly the American sound pedal and a Behringher headphone amp).

Does it stimulate the Amp and the cab, or just the Amp head.

Joyo never built a copy of the TECH21 Hiwatt clone, the "TECH21 Leeds". So, I bought this pedal and it is great. American (Fender), California (Mesa Boogie), Actone (Vox), British (Marshall) is a money machine, but poor old Hiwatt is nearly forgotten .... :-)

Hey.. I was wondering if I could use this into a stand alone 8 track recorder like a Tascam? I was thinking.. guitar, overdrive, delay, American, reverb than into the 8 track recorder... Thanks

I have recorded using my American sound in more or less that exact way. I also have a Bassbreaker 007 stack and a Bassbreaker 18/30 but still record with the Joyo directly for some alternative tones.

I have distortion pedals such as OCD, Box of Rocks, Plumes etc, my question is, can I still utilize the Joyo American for better tone. I'm also running into a Fender Champion 100 clean setting amp, and a Traynor Custom Special 90.

Shane, your comparison is great but I'm looking for the clean sounds compared, and here there's always some dirt on it. I've heard somewhere that the clean sounds are much alike, what do you say?

I use the AC Tone for a clean sound. Love it with any guitar I've put through it. It really gives the VOX chime, even when played clean.

Just a little question: this pedals require cab simulation running after them or they are like "plug and play"? Nice video by the way. Really like you channel, Shane. Congrats.

Ac-tone and American sound quite legit to me, the British sounds a little over compressed at least to my ears

Great vid man! Can I plug a headphone straight into the pedal output? I live in a small apartment and I have a Vox AC30C2 but it is very loud, specially when you want to get some overdrive from it. I'm thinking in buying a JOYO AC Tone for practice. Thanks!

+Rodrigo Ono The output level of the pedals is about line level, so although it can drive headphones (with level all the way up, as with most pedals) you won't get enough volume. I'd recommend getting a cheap headphone amp (like the Vox Amplug clones for 10 bucks - that's what I ordered for my British Sound) and voilà, cheap solution with good tones!

+Maruel Zain How about just running them through an interface like MAudio Fast Track, and go to the headphones from there?

hazzpolo That should work perfectly, I actually sometimes use the pedal in front of my Line6 ux1 (pod studio) which is basically the same thing, so yeah go for it!

Hi Shane, Great vid, but I have a question: How clean can the American sound go? I need to record some warm and "punchy" jazz tones with lots of headroom going direct to the mixer using my es335 , would you recommend the A.S for this? Thanks for the feedback mate! Cheers!

5 years on I bought the Strymon Iridium which does the same 3 amps (basically) in one pedal with 96khz sample rate and 3 cabs for each and like you I wish I'd had it years ago - I would have been much more productive recording and more popular with my neighbours.

Hey Shane. If im not looking to use this solely for amp simulation but rather to add some mid and character to my Vox AC15 hand wired amp would it work well in conjunction with that in the sense of adding the characteristics of the two together? Or would it more so completely take over the natural sounds of my amp?
