You didn't need to reroll the first roll. There was a science symbol on the black die you discarded and could have set the red die to the tactics symbol and succeeded in the roll.

I think at 18:30 you have the symbols you need first time (one of the black dice has a science symbol, and you can change the red to tactics with River's ability) - doesn't affect anything though as you succeed next try.

It strikes me that the game can truly be made fully and unquestionably cooperative with one single change: use only ONE Tardis on the center advancement track! That Tardis token is then shared by all players and is moved by their collective actions. In this way, there is only a race between the Dalek ship and a single Tardis that represents the collective success or failure of all Doctors together as one. It is just that simple: one tiny house-rule change and all vestige of semi-cooperation vanishes, leaving only a truly cooperative, collective effort.

Sounds like a good idea but if all Doctors only move one single Tardis the game would really be cake walk :) So would also need to do significant changes to the location tiles regarding the reward and to the dilemma tiles for penalities - otherwise you could easily win this game in 5-6 turns.

I'll add my voice into the general consensus, too bad the game does not come with more Doctors. I'm not really into Doctor Who so I'm not sure if this game is for me but thank you for the play-through, it really helps in deciding if games are for me or not.

It's really a fun game but I believe you will enjoy it more if you are somewhat into Doctor Who. But on the other hand: my wife enjoyed it a big deal and she's definitely not a Whovian ;-)

I'd certainly play it if someone had a copy of it. It reminds me a tiny bit of Elder Sign and I jut prefer the Cthulhu theme more, even if the Cthulhu theme is done to death these days.

From what I've seen on You Tube, they originally intended to include 6 Doctors in the base set (see beasts of war). Weather they changed their minds to keep the costs of the basic game down, or make more cash on add ons, who knows....When it comes to future releases, it would make financial sense for them to release them in a 2 Doctor format, as despite the production costs being the same, some will naturally sell better than others. For instance, the 10th Doctor is very popular with new and old Who fans, but the 8th Doctor has little screen time, and therefore a smaller fan base. It would make sense for them to put them together in the same expansion.I'm very new to the game, so this is only my initial view..

I just got mine. I laminated the Doctor/Tardis boards to make them a bit sturdier. I have card sleeves on order for most of the others.

It seems more doctors are on our way: look at River Song card at 12:45. It gives a green dice bonus for the doctors 8 and 12 and a blue dice bonus to 10 and 11.

Did you cut the sleeves that you're using for the Timey-Wimey cards, or were you really able to find some sleeves of that size?

You keep saying you can't reroll the dice... and then discard a black die and reroll the dice... What's the rule on that? By the way, I DO remember the first doctor... from the original broadcasts. I grew up with the Doctor. Seen every last episode as far as I know.

You are right, I should have been more clear on this special rule with the black die. On those dilemmas you cannot use any "normal" re-rolling abilities whatsoever but the one exception with discarding a black die in order to roll everything. Otherwise those dilemmas would be close to unbeatable :)

The funny thing is on the first dilemma in the video you didnt need to reroll anything, you had all the needed dice along with Rivers abikity to win

I agree that it is disappointing that they didn't ship with all of the Doctors, but if they were going for maximum cash, I''m shocked they included the 4th doctor. I could have seen the expansions be the 4th with the 2nd, 3rd, 7th, and 8th (movie doctor) and then the 10th with the 9th, 5th (since he's David's father-in-law irl), 6th, and the War Doctor. Since the 4th and 10th are by far the most popular two doctors. Now, I'm guessing they'll use the 3rd Doctor for the 2nd expansion. Or maybe they'll be incredibly generous and only have 1 expansion with all the doctors. Hahahahahahaha...

Hahaha! Wow - great summary of doctors, Scott! I will announce you my official Who-Advisor for this play through :-) Also pretty sure they're not just going for one big expansion but I really hope they're not simply sell one Doctor at a time though... But I really expect a lot more content with each expansion (locations, dilemmas, companions, timey-wimey cards etc.). ;-) But apart from the doctors: it's really a fun game :)

I love DW and grew up watching the 4th Doctor's adventures when they got replayed on PBS here in the US in the early 80's, and when I had Netflix, I watched every single one they had on there of the old stuff. Watched the revived aka New Who from the start. This game looks like fun.

Yeah, it certainly has some similarities but you have some interesting options in order to optimize die results by finding/choosing the right companions and/or timey-wimey cards. But in the end - yeah - you're rolling a lot of dice :-D
