Max, This may get lost in the comments but I wanted to share a JP secret. He has a tell during his command grab, in which he will pop out one of his feet during the attack. He only does this animation for the grab. I hope it helps people with the match-up a bit!

Honestly for me i use the audio to react to anything he does, its pretty simple once you get used to it especially since theyre all distinct enough and JP players all play about the same

You can also tell through the voice lines. He says "go" for the standard projectiles or "to shreds" with EX, and he says "away" or "prepare" for the command grabs.

Yeah, once you figure out their patterns then all you have to do is stay out of your own way. I use Akuma mainly and Demon Raid is the ultimate ace in the hole against JP because you can bypass the projectiles while initiating your own offense to get in range and do damage.

I think i figured it out, and i dunno if it's new. But basically after recovering from stun (getting attacked, etc) you immediately get your Drive Gauge filled back up. I swear that's new.

Uk I just found smth kinda cool in the lab with Ken (tbf this is the first time ive seen it so if someone else has done it my bad). If u DI someone into the wall and get the wall splat, do EX Dragonlash kick twice, drive rush quickly to the opponent and immediately lvl 3 for some good damage. Granted I did this in Modern mode but, could be smth spicy 🤷🏽‍♂️

You're already Master iirc, but for anyone who's struggling against Honda, you have to parry his headbutt and the slum, especially the headbutt because it's safe and it takes a lot of drive gauge if blocked. If you perfect parry then you can even punish both moves with a grab or a combo.

The back dash is better than teching the throw (back dash in general dodges grabs, even command grabs) but they're a harder read than throw tech. If you notice it he gets hit a few times trying to read the throw. But if you do backdash the throw you can get a decent punish counter with a medium drive rush or even a heavy depending on the character and the button.

Your timing is slow most likely. You get cinematic if the target is close to point blank.

it’s all about consistency really, you can win games but when you start losing them, analyse your replays and see what went wrong, what new strategies you could take on, which risks you took that weren’t worth the reward, which habits you need to begone, and most of all, keeping a level headed approach while you’re playing and trying to analyse while you’re playing
