I so love you for teaching me this!! I've been singing this song all my life. When we were little, my sister did Paul's part and I did John. It's burned in my memory, but I never knew how to play it. The chord progressions are genius! How did they do that? Anyway, Thanks so much for taking the time to teach us! You rock!

I love your lessons! Very helpful! One thing you might want to add is the beautiful exit sequence: G string, 2nd fret - G string, 3rd fret - B string, 1st fret (or G string, 5th fret) - G string, 3rd fret - high E string, open - ending with a strum of the D chord.

Thanks for that video. My friend, who has taught me to play the guitar from very beginner. (In fact, I started with a Chord Buddy) After I have mastered one task, he gives me another to work on. He decided I should work on this song. At first sight of the chords, I told I couldn't, It was to difficult but this video has given me the encouragement I needed to take on the task. Thanks again for this lesson. I have become a subscriber.

Excellent explanation. Simple chords. Got them all. But... I sure wish ALL you 'guitar tutorial posters' would turn the camera upside down, and place it over your left shoulder and look down at the neck and frets so we could see the fingers and chords exactly as YOU see them, and WE will see them when we try to play what you are explaining! How come no one (but me) ever thought of doing it that way?

Hi Joe, I confess, I was impatient and left your vid to find someone that wouldn't "waste" so much time "chatting," then like the Prodigal Son, I came back. I now realize your tutorial is by far the best, and as for the "chatting," well, I've learned that you're just a nice guy. Nothing wrong with that! Thanks for the help.

2 more things for accuracy: 1st, John learned his chords from his mother Julia, a banjo player, and more often than not (see various videos) you can see his banjo fingerings. His D chords are almost always played with his pinky on the fourth string which adds a middle F# to the chord. Watch the Hard Day's Night clip of the song, and the Ebm is played with the Gb on the fourth string. 2nd pt is that George is playing alt positions of the chords on his12 string Rick. Else wise, spot on. Cheers

Great job as usual, Joe. I think you could play the 4th string in the first chord if you press it on the 4th fret with your ring finger. Replace it with the pinky on the 2nd. string and you´ll get a fuller chord. I think that´s the way John played it. Cheers mate and thanks for the wonderful lessons.

@MrButtmunch7 I'm not too sure what you are referring to, therefore, I'll point you in the right direction. I assume you are looking for the rhythm guitar part as played by George. He plays it with a capo at the 5th fret (see the "Anthology" DVDs for verification). The chord SHAPES he uses for the intro are A, D7, B7 and E7. The rest of the song is alternating A, D7, and E7. One note: the A chord shape used is similar to the A chord fingering for "I've Got A Feeling". I hope this helps.

Hi Joe . I've found a slight change of chord that works well . Instead of the full D7 chord at the start of the mid , I drop the Fsharp on the top string and play that string (the top E) open .
