Hey, I've also bought these. But I have lost 2 of those triangular-ish nuts you place over the tube nipples, anyone got an idea where I can find those little things and what they are called? Thanks :)

Great video. How do you like the shocks? Have you noticed any leakage?
@JPRC
@JPRC 8 жыл бұрын
+Peter Watkins i ran them over the weekend, they handled super smooth for crawling and sand dune and gravel high speed runs, however, they are little leaky but thats the same with all shock. i still would take the performance and look over little bit of oil leak

Would this build process, and filling/tuning process be roughly the same for shocks like these with external springs? I have a full set of "CoolRC" External piggybacks coming and they look like these only: dual rate external shocks instead of internal. There's a pressure regulator too, but it's a bolt instead of the CAP acting as the regulator. I'd think same concept? But I'm a Noob 🤣🤣

Wouldn't it return faster if you use the outside springs

+JPRC awesome. I'll wait and see. I'm in no rush with the upgrade for mine because I'm happy with how it is performing at the moment, but I'm sure it'll be the next upgrade for it

I ordered a set of these shocks, but I noticed on the website that these are listed as "air damper" shocks. It says "Shock has air damping and minimal shock lubricant is need to only provide smooth shock action". I also see that you had to add a hole and use lighter oil. This would support the idea that these are not intended to be used as oil filled shocks. Did you try them without oil first?
@FullOptionRacing
@FullOptionRacing 8 жыл бұрын
You are correct. These are pneumatic dampers. They aren't designed to use oil at all other than a small amount to improve sealing and reduce friction. That's why the shafts are so thick, because without being filled with incompressible oil the volume compensation needed is lower and the sealing needs to be as good as possible with high seal area (air is thinner than oil). Adjusting the contra piston tension in the external reservoir also has zero effect on the damping rate, it is actually changing the preload in the system only.

When you put the piston into the reservoir, wouldn't there be air on the underside of it?
@JPRC
@JPRC 8 жыл бұрын
Skip to 4:30 of I had fully compressed the shaft and top out the oil close to the thread level before installing piston. There is little to no air when filling oil this way.
@phantommedia9964

JPRC so if u squeeze the piston , ur saying that the air will squeeze past the piston but not the oil?
@JPRC
@JPRC 8 жыл бұрын
There would be exceed oil and air pushed out when piston make contact with top of oil, but it does not seal until the the double o-ring contacts the smooth interior wall of the piston.

PLEASE ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS ISSUE? How do you know if the shocks you have are air damped? I've got a set of Xtra Speed 110mm Adjustable Piggyback Shocks but the hose keeps popping off and leaking oil idk what to do? They came with no oil any advice anyone?

These shocks are AIR dampened. Who or where did you get the idea to put oil in them? Why doesnt air work? I cant really see why putting oil in these would be a bad thing, but you answered someones question in the comments below that the shocks "leak" a little and you would take the little bit of leak over the inconsistent damping.. If these are supposed to be air, then with a little oil leak, that would mean TONS OF AIR LEAK. Right? Thanks for the vid.

If they are supposed to be air shocks, then why have o rings
@Lord_Pistachio_Nut
@Lord_Pistachio_Nut 3 жыл бұрын
@@kidholiday1354 air shocks need air in them. They need pressure. Without O rings, there'd be no air in them. The first cycle would follow the laws of physics and remove all the air. Air shocks work just like oil shocks, just with air instead of oil 🤷‍♂️
