I remove honey bees out of two round wooden columns in this video. One of the colonies filled the entire column with comb & bees.
The homeowner had a carpenter do a lot of work on several of his columns including these two.
The first column had about 35-40 countersunk stainless screws that took me about an hour & a half to remove.
The bees weren't that happy but they weren't that bad either.
This job was done on two separate days, about a week apart, if that. There was a delay in doing the second one due to Hurricane Sally (In the video I say hurricane Sandy, my bad) coming close to New Orleans but we dodged a bullet thank goodness for that!
I specialize in live honey bee removal in southeast, Louisiana. Home base is Metairie, right outside of New Orleans.
If you enjoy my content please consider subscribing, it is greatly appreciated!
I put in hours & hours, sometimes days putting these videos together but without you taking time out of your day to watch them & give feedback it wouldn't be worth it to put them together.
It is you good people who drive & inspire me to make these videos, thank you for supporting my channel!
Plenty more coming!

There are these suits that one can wear which protect you from bee stings. There is even a helmet with a screen to protect the face. Very strong gloves that prevent stings on the hands and fingers. Amazing technology. I believe they are called bee suits and they are usually white in colour. Thats what I heard anyway.

I have rescued countless hornets from my home, you don't have to slap them or squish them you can just gently go up to them, put your finger down slowly near them and sure enough the hornet simply walks onto your finger, you can then gently walk it to a window. Hornets can be tame, and friendly. Wasps im sure can too but I have yet to try that.

Some people are afraid of spiders or snakes, but bees are something that just don't sit well with me. The strange thing is that i really enjoy watching videos of them. When it comes to hive removals, i see killing the colonies as taking the easy way out. It seems like removing a hive and keeping the colony alive and relocating it would be much more challenging. I find that to be commendable and can respect that. Just don't relocate them too closely to me :)

I always heard the people working with bees like this, you have to be at peace with yourself and nature if the bees sense a bad vibe they will not be so friendly, one has to totally respect the bees, I don't know how true that is but it makes perfect sense to me. About 10 years ago, I accord 3 beehives from an old Russian guy, he did his best trying to explain to me but I could hardly understand his deep accent and broken English, but he had about 180 hives all together, he was retiring. Unfortunately, one night something came in my back yard, I think a bear but I did not see it so not sure, but all the hives got totally smashed up and gone, later that day, I saw a swarm up in a tree just on the edge of the woods behind my house. I attempted to try and move them But I did not have enough knowledge or understanding and could not afford to hire anyone, so my beekeeping was short-lived. I really liked it though Bees are very magical to watch, I did manage to get a few jars of honey and had no problem working with them, never got stung once. it was amazing.

Talk about patience and persistence! Also, knowledge, skill and dealing with the hot, humid climate. I can't think of a more uncomfortable job; I hope he gets paid well. Now the homeowner needs to do a ton of maintenance on that house if they want to keep it up. Proper home maintenance would have avoided this problem and many others.

Hi JP, what a cool place for the bees to make their nest in those old columns I’m glad you could get them all out mate, it seemed a real nice cutout too do you make it look so easy I know it’s not having done a few myself but you are the best I’ve seen mate I would never do a cutout without my bee suit on that’s for sure. Thanks for sharing your vlog with us mate.

Oh jeez! I love those self-tapping torx screws, I think the brand-name version are called "spax" or something, but like.... loving a fastener for being self-tapping and cheap is one thing, loving them enough to use a whole box to fasten a single plank in place.... NOT SO MUCH! That's some serious overkill. If watching your and Randy's videos has taught me anything, it's that if we ever do DIY home improvement, make sure to leave things fastened with enough, but not an overkill, amount of fasteners... and the easier it is to take apart without breaking anything, the better!

That’s why I put plywood floors back down (after I’ve removed bees from between the floors) with screws & never, ever countersink them. I’m just glad I was able to remove most of those screws from the column without damaging it but what a pain locating/removing them!

It is genuinely so heart warming to see this man working so gently, with such love for these insects. You can tell he really does love them, like a person would be acting towards a puppy. I would have just nuked that entire neighborhood from orbit, like one would when dealing with xenomorphs. Not this guy. I get the sense that if these bees were a lot bigger, he would be actually hugging them and petting them and stuff. They seem to be very docile around him too. Almost as though they were picking up on the fact that he bears no ill will or animosity towards them.
