I really have a lot of respect for GSP. My uncle who is always in great shape has colitis. He won't from 185 pounds to 120 quickly and can't be far from a bathroom for long. He had his colon removed it got so bad. For GSP to compete at this level with this disease makes him a true warrior.
@alantaylor66915 жыл бұрын
That's no good to have to have the colon removed. What's also amazing is how GSP won against a field of steroid users. Is that really possible? The difference in genetic potential at that level is relatively small, however the difference with steroids is large, like 10%. There's no way he could be more than 10% genetically superior than all other top elite fighters, so I don't understand how a clean athlete could be dominant over every top elite steroid user.

Respectfully, you are trying to quantify something (a person's ability to win a fight) that isn't easily quantified. If we were talking about someone's output on a rowing machine, maybe (even then, I'd question your numbers), but fighting is dynamic and complex, with skill, strategy, and heart coming into play along with physical attributes, Of course PEDs confer some advantage (performance enhancement), but to say that it can't be overcome because of 1% this or 10% that would be an oversimplification.

Let's be honest (and this is coming from from a person who's been doing jiu-jitsu MMA for almost 2 & 1/2 years and loves it) real fighting is stand up. Rolling around on the ground doesn't get the fans blood going. And if you choose a joy jitsu heavy gameplan your most likely scared to stand up. It's just true, all my opponents start trying to get me down after a minute on the feet they all break, I love it, but I don't like people who make excuses for their fear. I had huge respect for GSP prior to watching this video but after learning about GSP having ulcerative colitis and still fighting, he is without a doubt the greatest MMA fighter P4P ever, by far. A member of my family has ulcerative colitis and it is life changing and completely debilitating and I cannot imagine the courage that GSP had to fight being ill and fighting at the highest level of the game, and winning. Insane courage skill and determination.

@skyblue99916 жыл бұрын
Im a huge fan of both fighters but I believe GSP would handle Khabib and inevitably take the win... but man would that be an amazing fight to watch. GSP is the only fighter near weight with the skills, Intelligence, endurance and grit to handle a Khabib onslaught. Maybe Woodley too. Id be happy if every UFC main event was just those 3 fighting each other over and over again. Hahaha.

The fact he made the fight is unreal. GSP has a legit case of ulcerative colitis (UC). I have the exact same disease and something called interstitial cystitis with Hunners Ulcers (IC is like the bladder version of UC). Point is it got so bad I couldn’t even work and I’ve been training all my life. Knowing he’s battled through UC for at least a few championship fights makes me respect him even more. Autoimmune diseases that affect your insides and organs is not like pain from breaking bones or tearing ligaments. It’s next level pain comparative to musculoskeletal pain. And you cannot depend on consistency either. Flares come from fucking nowhere. It can be agonizing. I’ve had 15 surgeries from those two diseases alone (I was diagnosed at 18 and I’m 37. So do the math. Almost a surgery a year). He has nothing to prove fighting Khabib (plus he still has to beat Tony after Dustin anyways). Plus with UC inside a man as big as GSP trying to make 155 might kill him. It’s not worth his health or the long term damage that it will do. Bc there is no cure for these or any autoimmune diseases. He’s gonna have it forever. And yes. Stress makes autoimmune diseases so much worse. You’re a true Martial Artist with nothing left to prove. And no one who doesn’t feel it can make fun of the pain this disease causes - fuck them. You’re already on the Mt. Rushmore of MMA
@starfyre595 жыл бұрын
well I'm not an expert but his seems slightly different. His was caused from over eating, he didn't have it before. From what you've described, yours seems to be genetic (correct me if I'm wrong). That might be more treatable, but I'm just guessing.

Jonny Hendrix moment in the interview, I was like RME because it was on that day after the fight, that George WON, Joe and Dana stepped over the line and crushed GSP. They attacked in such a vicious way that you could see George's win, long time reputation, respect, meant nothing to them. It was the cruelest soul crushing language from them and George was shocked! He couldnt believe it and he felt betrayed. George is a Champion though and he stuffed that shit way down and never even said anything. I like Joe and Dana, but they acted disgracefully that night just because of the excitement and wanting screen time.
