NoNameChannel he puts in a lot of effort but into different aspects than other comedians, norm works on punctuation and timing rather than just writing amazing jokes. (even tho he does that as well). He works on his persona more so and because of that any topic that is brought up can be turned into the funniest thing you’ve ever heard, that’s why he’s the greatest talk show guest of all time Edit: thats also the reason it comes off as natural, because it really is him that’s being funny it’s not as planned as other comedians.

Huge Norm fan here, but as far as natural, off-the-cuff funny I think Bill Burr might be in the same league. Norm is incredibly intelligent and uses that to weave elaborate, multilayered jokes. Whereas Bill can just riff on things with little to no preparation in a conversational manner. Although with that being said, they’re both so different it’s hard to compare so basically what I’m trying to say is I don’t own a doghouse.

That was one of those jokes where you instantly get the punchline and chuckle, but then a couple seconds later as you think about how intense the setup was, you realize the real reason it was funny and can’t help but lose your shit. You can see this happening to Conan actually on the clip where he tells it. It’s like Conan finds it funnier and funnier as he thinks about it. I remember hearing him years ago before he changed his name(a play on Norm Macdonald btw) and before he tried to mirror Norm, he wasn't very funny but after he started to mimic Norm his stand up got way better. He's a little awkward during podcasts, that's where he struggles to follow Norm, Norm was the king of awkward moments and it just flowed so smoothly, Mark tries to push the awkward a lil much some times but he's definitely getting better at it.

IMO He was the funniest man to have walked the Earth. Some might think that's a stretch, but for me he was the embodiment of comedy. He effortlessly breathed it from the youngest age, a close second for me is the genius of Dave Chappelle.
