Restoring Our Uncle's 1972 Ford Gran Torino Part 3! (Ready For Paint)

The Ford Gran Torino project is ready for paint! Steve has been hard at work over the past few months to finish up the bodywork and subtle modifications that our uncle started 20 years ago but never finished. We take it a step further with a Sport Hood with a GT Scoop that we bought from a subscriber! We also give a sneak peak of the custom paint color supplied by ProForm! Now we just need your help deciding if we should do a stripe down the side of the car where the molding was? It was awesome to see this car roar to life in part 2! It's finally ready for paint. Watching these videos had me in tears for so many reasons, I think it shows the great character you have for doing a worthy and admirable project. Kudos to your restoration guy, Steve, too. Ironically, I have a midnight blue 1972 Torino just like that on my computer desktop. It has the black vinyl roof and Magnum 500 rims. I wish it were my car. My cousins had a '72 coupe in gold with the sport hood, black painted hubcaps with trim rings. Unfortunately, they sold it in '79 due to the gas crisis. One of the cars I wish I had bought when I was young but there's still hope at 53.

When I was 17, my cousin and Istarted our own body shop. One of the first cars we painted was a 1970 Cutlass. We used a color that I remember being exactly like the blue you have here. You are going to LOVE it when its done!!!

Seal the hood intakes. Water intrusion will kill your driveability. Or a CJ air cleaner setup will seal it from water intrusion. Been there.
