I will always click on anything that says 3000gt or dodge stealth. Throughout the years they made so many subtle changes between both cars one would think that costed more to manufacture verses leaving things more similar.

taking my fully built 3000gt Sl to fuel fest scottsdale tommorow. Couldnt take it last year because it needed a tune and every shop was refusing to do it. Finally got it done made 305whp at 8800rpms with no forced induction or nitrous. Not a bad achievement for a guy without a garage and not that much money lol. Glad to see atleast someone still keeping a spotlight on these cars.

@@JrodsGarage well theres alot of compromises made. I lost a lot of torque putting a holley hi-ram on it at the bottom end but its what put it over the edge for the 300whp. Basically its a 6g75 holley hi-ram adapter from breton performance made to fit on the 72 even had to do the write ups, List of changes and an install video and sent it to breton. Now they sell it as a kit for the 72. So got the chance to develop some parts for these cars however small. But high up in the rpms 6-9k it was out running 450cc injectors. Upgraded to a bigger fuel pump to finish out the tune but it needs bigger injectors for ethanol. Tuner was saying at those rpms its sucking in so much air. It does have a 95mm Ls throttle body on the holley so its not hurting for air and its on speed density from the haltech ecu. So no maf its just a 4.5in pipe and bellmouth with an IAT and a meth injector in their now lol.

In detail, it is important to mention that in 1996/1997 the 3000GT steering columns and steering wheels were upgraded with a different slip ring and a modified steering column because Mitsubishi changed the gearing here. The airbag system was also improved here and there were passenger airbags that were not available before.

Man after my own heart, keepin' and drivin' 'em stock. Just need to get the Stealth's wheels back to factory. I had totally forgotten the targa version. Truly a unique feature that is extremely uncommon in automotive history, even within Porsche's product legacy. There are at least couple reasons why the climate control spec was different: Mitsu wanted the 3000GT to be ever so slightly more special and luxurious, or given the rarity of these cars after 1995 in the US, they maybe(?) ran out of allotment for the electronic HVAC and patched the lesser-badged version with the manual HVAC unit. OR...something completely different happened.

The glass roof was also an option a very rare option on the SL model but it was an option. I have a 1994 SL with the ECS and glass roof options equipped. After some head work and a few other tweaks I was beating literally everything on Franklin Blvd with the exception of a tubed out 69 Camaro some old dude ( he was old to us probably in his 30's lol) was always cruising in and a Trans Am with the WS packing and a weird ass rear exhaust turbo. Right now it's sitting waiting for me to get around to redoing it but it will always be my baby lol We had DuPont Chameleon Paint and crushed velvet interior. Really a long story, I can't tell here but the car was stolen from California before I bought it in Charlotte NC so I actually bought a stolen car but thankfully I ended up with the title when all said and done. I have always love these cars and I really don't think any other car in the world with the exception of possibly a Viper and a couple different Ferraris that have the curves have any business with chameleon paint on them 🤣, I hate seeing that paint on something like a Mustang fox body for instance, it's just too square and flat and I love the fox bodies don't get me wrong.
