Just started bowling again after about 15 years off. It's like starting over new and ball tech is all over the place. Your ball reviews are awesome! I'm also rehabbing a recent shoulder injury and the doc's cleared me to use limited mobility and a 10lb ball. Would love to see a series on rehabbing bowling injuries and using lower ball weights to build back mobility and strength.

Here’s what I don’t understand: These big slow asyms “need oil” which is obvious, but do they need length or do they need volume? I always thought big slow asyms were good on short patterns with high volume because they blend out the heavy fronts into the dry back ends and avoid that violent motion. But if big slow asyms are meant for short AND for long, then when would you ever use a quicker response ball? Burn only? That doesn’t seem right.
@aliyassargento7752 жыл бұрын
Volume
@enigmazero86242 жыл бұрын
@@aliyassargento775 I agree. I feel like most pattern discussion focuses only on the length, but volume is also so important when it comes to equipment selection. I would expect a quicker response ball than any of the ones shown here to look better on Route 66; it’s only 23 mL.
@aliyassargento7752 жыл бұрын
@@enigmazero8624 i think the length to volume ratio is something some people don’t look at enough. It’s definitely one of the things to keep in mind when choosing equipment.
@azriqizam2 жыл бұрын
In my honest opinion, a quick response ball is only used when you have a very defined area such as house and those higher pacing patterns. Just because the ball can have a bigger entry angle thus higher carry percentage.
@afterhourscleaning12 жыл бұрын
@@azriqizam Agreed. Use em if you NEED added torque at the b.p. with less continuation at the end of patterns, or dull em to burn off rotation early.

My expectations were not all that high since I didn't understand all the different variables that comes into play in competitive/league bowling. Brought the relic (16 lbs.) How does the infinite physics do on a house shot and when it starts to dry up?
@SuperJ2132 жыл бұрын
I bought a Proton PhysiX 2 weeks ago based on Storm's Matchmaker tool (after determining my revs, PAP, axis tilt, etc.) and have only used it maybe 6 games so far. It hooks more than my early 90's Power Torq which is pretty beat up, but I was expecting a lot more out of it honestly. I wish I knew the oil pattern that was on the lanes today, but I was bowling far to the right, throwing over the 2nd arrow, and my Proton was barely making it to the pocket. I had my Proton drilled with a 4 x 4 x 1 layout per Storm's layout sheet which I chose because the house I've been bowling at recently oils their lanes pretty heavily. Again, it's certainly hooking better than my old Power Torq, but I'm bummed that I'm not experiencing more hook on heavy oil. Any thoughts?
@DubCAU2 жыл бұрын
I'm seeing the same out of my Proton Physix. Expected more hook out the ball, but not giving up on it yet as it does carry well on Medium oil conditions. Looking forward to seeing a response from the JR Pro Shop team. Also wonder if the Proton is polished in this comparison.
@SuperJ213 Жыл бұрын
@@DubCAU I started playing with different surface finishes. Using a 500 grit pad, my Proton is really strong in general. I actually ran into a problem at a recent tournament that had drier lanes. Now I'm looking for another ball for such occasions (debating between the Fate and Night Road.... leaning towards the Night Road).
@DubCAU Жыл бұрын
@@SuperJ213 Not sure if you're completely linked to one brand...if not take a look at the Hammer Raw Hybrid. It's not expensive & could be another option
@SuperJ213 Жыл бұрын
@@DubCAU I'll admit, I've been mainly interested in Storm products since getting back into bowling, but I rock a Phantom bowling bag, carry my Columbia Power Torq in it with my Proton PhysiX, and wipe them down with an Ebonite towel! I didn't care for Hammer (or Rhino) in the 90's, but things have changed a lot since then. I'll keep the Raw Hybrid in mind.

I'm hesitant to get it, hearing it's a bit stronger than the proton. My proton is a bit too much ball for my house, even on fresh. Was gonna replace my halo pearl with the infinite physics. Any suggestions on which ball I should go with if it's too much ball?
@arandomcommenter70512 жыл бұрын
Altered reality on eBay would be closest core numbers and cover wise to a halo pearl.. yes it got Chad Murphy’d but if you don’t bowl nationals or the masters it should affect you. Reality check is also pretty angular once it lane shine. Infinite is way more ball in the front 30 feet than a halo pearl
