I like the fact that Manly knives are about performance and not fluff. They aren’t going to get much traction with the fidget crowd.

I have a Manly Peak in d2. It’s a beast. Very long thin blade and handle. Deep carry clip. It kinda disappears in pocket too be honest. The s90 is like 120 with a 8 shipping charge. They’re a cool company supersteel Steve got one that wasn’t thin enough edge geometry and they took care of it.

Had it for a while and really enjoy it. The selling point for me is the super thin grind. This thing slices foods 100x better than any other folding knife I own. Having s90 for that price is insane value and makes it an even more durable user in my opinion. There's plenty of pocket jewelry already. Enjoy it while they still make it at this price. Good stuff.

You are on to it, this wasn't designed for the US. I have a Wasp in 12c27 and a Peak in S90V, I've already done edge retention testing with the Wasp and I'm working on my Peak now. S90V in that slip joint I think is fantastic for knife guys who want a great cutting tool at an even better price. All Manly folders have very good geometry,.009 for the Wasp and .008 for the Peak both at 15 dps. These are small production knives so you get attention to things that matter like heat treat and blade grinding. I give Manly props for stepping up and doing things other companies won't. Civivi gives us good geometry with mediocre heat treats at best, Spyderco gives us great heat treats on most sprint runs with thick blade geometry. I'm happy a company out there listened and made knives for knife guys who want a selection of steel, Manly does D2, 12c27, 154cm and S90V, great cutting geometry in a simplified tool. For the price point you really cant beat what you get.

@@JTsKnifeLife i get what youre saying, just think its not a knock on the knife, a more positive thing that you can get s90v at that price point and ground so thin. Its just not the right choice for people who cant sharpen it but those that can, big win

Thanks JT, for putting this beauty up, today! I'm loving everything Manly has been doing. I get all of mine from Lubo, at the ManlyUSA site. The 12C27 version of this knife, is about $56. Though I too, have been buying the S90V models. They are often out of Stock, as they small batch these, and take turns in building each model. I suggest, for those interested in these. To subscribe to their site, and get emailed updates, to read when knives are in Stock, and for when they have Special pricing. Which happens several times a year! : - )

I own three Manly knives all in D2 steel. All Manly knives have a cutting edge bevel at 15 degrees per side. I have found the fit and finish excellent and the D2 seems to have had a excellent heat treat. You are correct, these are users knives and they do what a knife is designed to do, cut extremely well. I have bought knives both from the factory in Bulgari and from their U.S. distributor. If you want a good user I recommend The Peak back lock model or the Patriot fixed blade. Kevin Clearly has two reviews of Manly knives. These knives are one of the best buys on the market.

The nailnick works perfektly for me. And i think its important to mention, that this knife is so thin behind the edge, that maintaining the blade is super easy because you only need to remove a tiny amount of material to resharpen the knife. And another important aspect to mention is that this knife is kind of friendly looking. I life in berlin germany where people are usually nervous about knives. We dont have guns here so knives are the number one weapon for criminals. We really have a big knife problem. Its not funny. But the manly is such a nice and friendly looking blade that you can take it out of your pocket in a public bus or the metro and nobody gives you a strange look. Also at work in front of customers nobody freaks out. And that makes this knife my edc of choice in the city.

Good points, and it's nice to be able to get this steel in a product that is legal where you are. Still, for me, the steel just isn't neccesary for what I need, and I'm terrible at sharpening, so I'd just avoid dealing with it, easy as it may be. From what I hear though, it's easier to maintain than I expected.

Looks like there is now a Manly USA website as well as a Manly Canada website for us northerners! Very interesting remarks on the knife, an d very true, I bought this exact knife at the Manly Canada Clearance sale, and got it for a very nice price, 20 percent off their normal. This is definitely a working knife, very simple g10 ( though im sure polishing the g10 would had that much more beauty to it) For me, this is my travel knife. There are better two hand opening locking folders, and there are better one hand opening slipjoints, but this one knife lets me get past pretty much every country's laws. Two hand, non locking, below 3 inches. As for the steel, for a working knife, I would also prefer the Sandvich as Manly has a really nice heat treat on it. For me though, this was a chance to try S90v in an affordable package, and also lets me go on a trip and not have to worry about bringing sharpening equipment. This is an amazing travel knife, though it could do with a classier handle option.

it looks utilitarian, but i think the simplicity of its design lends it to be a little more elegant, but if it were not as wide i think it could be even more elegant. Does it remind you of Al Mar? with the large solid pivot ?

S90V is gear queer steel. Holds an edge for a long time and is pain to get sharp. Hard to get a smooth edge on it. Carbide structure is jagged and the "S" steels have tendency to be brittle. 14C28N is the better all around choice for this knife. This is a hard ass...hard core working slippie! This is one of the best values in pocket cutley anywhere!

Cool knife but yeah hard S90V is kind of a weird choice in a user. The price is decent and I like the knife. IMO- most of the knife co's are charging way too much for high end steels. I have many of them but still appreciate VG10, 154CM and even AUS8 that's easy to sharpen.

I have 2 of the Wasps, one in S90v and one in 12C27. Bought the second to see if the horrible build quality (fit and finish) was a fluke with the first one. Nope. There is only a quick flash of the knife back in the video, but if you look you will see how poorly the blade matches to the back spring. With my 2 examples none of the scales match the liners. One is off in one place, the other knife is off in a different place. Ugly off the shelf hardware for pivot and screws. You'll break a nail trying the nail nick. I'd rather pay more for a GEC or Proper, I'll not be buying from them again.
