Wonderful show, John, and I wish we could press a golden buzzer or something so you would hear fireworks and whistles on your end!!! Lake K was in very good form and you continue to do great with the little spinner bait. Good move to go with the trick worm and land the dandy LOG too. Catching a nice big bass does top off any fishing trip nicely. The gourmet salad and baked fish and shrimp (French recipe?) looked fantastic and you put a lot of effort into making your love offering to Miss Lulu wonderfully delicious. I thought your Cast of the "next" line was perfect...but once again she threw the hook with the funeral retort. Dang she's so skillful! Hahaha. Well, once again thank you both for letting us join you on the lake, in the kitchen and playing lovey dovey after a magnificent dinner. We are getting excited about the fall cool down in central Missouri and Lorraine and I will be chasing crappie and bluegill soon...chef Brenda is ready to go too. All the best from your friends Don, Brenda and Lorraine
@Juanelo19465 жыл бұрын
Hi Don! I had a hunch that this day I would catch enough bass for dinner. The clouds were building up, and rain was expected. The little spinner went dead, so I picked up the rod with the wacky Trick Worm, and it worked! I know there are plenty more big fish in the lake, but I've been struggling to hook them. One viewer asked me why I don't catch big bass, as if it were just a matter of my choosing! LOL! But the big one at the end of the day was most rewarding! The creamy fish and shrimp recipe was divine. I stumbled upon the recipe online (allrecipes.com), and there was no mention of French origins. But with all that butter, the roux, and the creaminess, it should be acceptable by the French! The meal went over very well with Ms. Lulu! And I really thought I had her on the hook with my marriage suggestion. But like so many of the really good ones, she deftly threw the hook, again! 😁 I know it's fall, but looking ahead, I don't see much of a cool down. It's inevitable though, right? I don't like cold weather, but now I would welcome it. It ought to help with our fishing! Thanks a million for dropping in! Thanks even more for the great comment my friend! Good luck fishing with Lorraine! Good luck to Brenda cooking up your catch. All the best to you all there in Jefferson City!

Juanelo, you have a real knack of pairing your main courses with just the right side...and you did it again tonight. Such a great combination: the richness of the sauced fish and shrimp, and the crunchy coolness of that beautiful salad. Honestly, that was four star fine dining. You're a real trooper going out there in 90* heat to share these delightful recipes. Thank you, and keep your stick on the ice. Oh, wait a minute, is it keep your tackle dry?? No, maybe it's don't lean out too far. Never mind...tell Miss Lulu I love her short "do" and she's not fooling me for a minute! (: (:

Hi Stef! Just before this, you had asked me if I thought we would have any more days of 80° plus. Well this was the first of several such days! Despite the heat, the fishing was pretty good this day. I was simply lucky to stumble upon this creamy fish and shrimp recipe, then again the cucumber salad recipe. They worked out very well! I won't lift my stick off the ice, nor let my tackle get wet, nor lean over the side of the boat too far! I promise! LOL! Aww, Miss Lulu says "thank you so much, Stef!" I like her hair like that too. I call it a "pageboy" but I could be wrong on the name. Thanks a million for dropping in! Thanks even more for the nice comment my friend! Have a wonderful week!

@@Juanelo1946 John, I have a question I'd like to ask, but if you think it's too personal, please delete: did you go on a low carb regimen because you had, or developed, a "sensitivity" to wheat?
@Juanelo19465 жыл бұрын
Oh I don't mind answering at all! 😊 I went low carb because I had a sensitivity to Dorito Taco Chips! I ate them like there was no tomorrow. I was fat! LOL! So the longer story is that 20 years ago I bumped into a doctor acquaintance who obviously had lost a lot of weight. I asked her how she did. She said, she went on the Atkins Diet. So I bought one of his paper back books. Then I started cutting back on carbohydrates. It worked! I lost 32 pounds! Most of it has stayed off since then. I hope I answered you well enough.

That was a dandy bass! Me and Mawgwe actually went fishing this week. Mountain view. The lake was awfully swift. I get kind of scared out there in water like that,but Mawgwe says “you only live onced” ! We lived through it. Only caught stripers. I think Weiss is different after that big flood. Can,t wait for fall. Cotton is coming in. Its so pretty. Fields are white now. Me and Mawgwe hardly ever eat out anymore. Thats a good thing. We like sitting on the back porch ,and eating our dinner.well,love on that little girl for us

Hi Melinda and Mawgwe! The lake was swift? It sounds more like a river! Be careful! But Mawgwe knows what he's doing. I would settle for a striper or three in Lake Ketchabigwon. They can be huge! Hi Brenda! Ms. Lulu hits me with another zinger every week! I was shocked at how fragrant fresh oregano is! It's very worth a try! I love the spiralizer, but I've never used it with a cucumber. It works great, especially on the thicker noodle setting. You would love the salad, and this fish recipe would be PERFECT with haddock! I might increase the cooking time just a little, and that would be it! Much of my video is done with pure trickery, including editing tricks, because out on the water, I'm limited to one camera. Another great video. Looks like a lot of weeds that have built up this year in Lake Katchabigone. Glad you got some nice bass this time & that last one was really nice. I went perch fishing this last week late in afternoon. Only got two & in the 1 hour 20 minutes 17 5 inch walleyes. Food looked great. That sauce looked really good & with shrimp on top of the fish WOW!!! You still need to check out Tony Chachere's creole seasoning (has original,more spice & bold) Miss Lulu with another zinger. But she really did not say she was against marriage this time. Or did she? Keep the great video's coming & look forward to next Sunday's.
@Juanelo19465 жыл бұрын
HI Roger! Oh, yeah, the weeds really have taken over in the shallowest bay! But the water has never been so clear. So I'll take them! Someone just asked me why I don't catch big bass, as if I could do it at will! LOL! Oh wow, at least we know that walleye fishing looks good in the years to come... 17 5 inch walleye! Or was that a 17.5 inch? Try this fish and shrimp recipe if you get a chance. You'll love it! I know, Tony Chachere's is really good. I've been reading online debates on which is best, that or Zatarain's. 😊 When it's Ms. Lulu reciting her zinger, you know she won't say anything positive about marriage! It's a rule! LOL! Another laugh-out-loud zinger from Lulu! Wow, Cucumbers stacked to the sky, one mile high... That's Denver's elevation. Is that moss that has gathered on the surface of LKaBO? @Juanelo19465 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan! Ouch, Lulu does it again! The noodle maker doesn't know when to stop. It just keeps making them longer and longer. I used a plastic worm this morning testing out my new bass grabbing skills. 10 lb test on reel. Got a bite, set the hook one big show of the large mouth and splash, I was left holding bare pole, reel and a little line😟 Just wanted to share my fail, though I did get a few small ones......Food looks great!

Hi Bill! I get my low-carb flour from netrition.com. www6.netrition.com/dd_all_purpose_flour.html. You can probably find it on amazon too. The price comes out to about the same, but netrition takes more care in packaging, and the package arrives in two days! Oh yeah, you could make a great sausage gravy with it! Mmm! Hey Juanelo1946 I love your videos and I've been a follower and subscriber for a long time. Simple question for you though, I know you pull these small fish out so that the big ones don't have as much competition for food, but what happens when all the big ones eventually die from age? if you're pulling all the small fish out it doesn't seem like there would be anything to replace the big ones when they are dead
@Juanelo19465 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob! You understand the first part of the equation perfectly! Removing the small bass in a pond means more food available for the bigger fish. That means more chance that they can reach their optimal weight. But I'll never come even close to catching ALL the smaller bass. So if I remove some, and there is more food available, those remaining smaller, younger fish, will rapidly grow big to replace those old, big ones that die through natural mortality. The pond experts at pondboss.com and other scientists, all seem to agree that it's important to harvest small bass from ponds since they tend to overpopulate. This isn't the case in larger, public lakes though. Thanks so much for watching and leaving the great question my friend!

You caught a mess of beautiful bass, Juanelo. Already sliced onions? Wow talk about a shortcut, baby! Fresh oregano is really a treat. Black pepper is always stealthy and on undercover-assignments; so an unknown quantity of it is as per procedure :) "Not a fan of bland" Oh yeah, Juanelo...there ya go! Oh that pun was lovely (I did not rue the day that I made roux) They say that puns are the lowest form of humor. If that is true, then I live in the gutter! Ay Dios mio....pecorino romano sobre tu roux, me parecio una perfeccion! Gosh your lovely multi-colored salad looked so pretty setting off your creamy petite piranhas. What a marvellous meal, Juanelo. Those lovely shrimp on top of them set them off nicely. Ohhh.......Miss Lulu is deliciously evil by "...doing the same to them; at funerals" !
@Juanelo19465 жыл бұрын
Hi John, mi tocayo! I learned that fresh oregano really pops with flavor! I didn't realize that before making this video. I like lots of freshly ground black pepper, so I didn't want to specify a quantity. Maybe others would find it too spicy, right? So let them decide! I also learned some years ago that pre-cooked shrimp is bland when compared to fresh, but you knew that long before me! You and I can wallow in the gutter together, because I can't stop thinking of puns if I tried! I gotta say that the pecorino Romano really added a nice flavor boost to this dish, even more than I'd have gotten with parmesan. But you know all these things! So the creamy petite piranhas with shrimp turned out heavenly! The colorful cucumber salad hit the spot on this warm September day, and everything was going just perfectly until I tried to turn Miss Lulu's attentions to marriage! How did she turn that around on me? Again! O, amigo mio, muchísmas gracias por ver mis videos y por tus palabras amables! All the best to you and yours down there at The Hacienda!

I made a fish recipe last nigh and thaught it was delicious! Ingredients Fish, lemon pepper seasoning, fresh whole lemon, fresh garlic and fresh chives All I did was Step 1: gut fish and take head off and score the skin 3 or 4 times Step 2: season inside and out side of fish with lemon pepper Step 3: crush 1 clove of garlic per fish and stuff inside along with a wedge of lemon and the chives till full Step 4: take a piece of tin foil and smear some butter or margarine on the foil Step 5: place fish on the foil with a lemon on the top and bottom of it Step 6: wrap in foil making sure there are no leaks Then place in the oven or on the bbq till fish is cooked mine took roughly 20 minutes at 375 Good luck and stay safe Hope you try and like the recipe!
@Juanelo19465 жыл бұрын
Hi Connor! Your recipe sounds wonderful! As you probably know, I've done whole (gutted) fish before. It's always delicious because of the skin and sweetness of the meat against the bones. I like your use of butter, garlic and lemon! Excellent! I'll probably try this just for myself. My dinner guest, Ms. Lulu, doesn't like any bones in her fish. So the is why I don't do more whole fish recipes. I really appreciate your writing it all down for me! Thanks a million for dropping in! Thanks even more for the great comment and recipe my friend! As a self proclaimed salad aficionado, I have to say that was a salad that derserves rave reviews. From me at least. The creamy cheesey seafood platter is one that I know both of us will enjoy. We'll have to pass on the bass but there's always another fish in the sea...or the freezer section of the market. It was so funny how Ms. Lulu turned your comment on marriage into a joke about death. HA!😳 I suspect you still have some more work ahead of you my friend. Good! We need all the Juanelo and Ms. Lulu videos we can get!

Hi Terry! I know you would love this salad! Once you make the cucumbers into noodles, it's a snap, as you can see! Bass are really tasty, but taste is subjective. You could use any mild white fish for this. How is Ms. Lulu always able to get away from my strategies to trap her into marriage? She's too sharp for me! She did have a good line this week. We even cracked up at it ourselves. You're too kind!!! It’s good of you to stop by! I especially appreciate the good words my friend! All the best to you and Dorothy!

Oh wow they so annoying to hear all night. I also hear so many sounds so far away as three miles away. I stopped wearing them. I told hearing specialist about it. Oh oh oh you can turn surrounding sounds off and just hear close around you. More quiet for me this way when they turned the surrounding sounds off as I don't want to hear sounds that is 1, 2, 3 miles away.
