From a European perspective it is always bizarre to hear Americans decrying a very basic social system as "communism". A decent minimum wage, national health insurance and labour unions are completely normal to most European countries and that certainly does not make them communist. Every generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it.
@johannesziaether39163 жыл бұрын
So true. But we actually evolve with every generation so the next generation is technically more advanced and intelligent than us because they know all what we know and more. On the other hand, older generation has already experienced life, so they are wiser than the new generation it's just that not all their values will work because societies tend to change with time, so while younger generation should absolutely listen to the older generation, they should also work on creating a better world.
@wxlfie23 жыл бұрын
I mean they're not wrong, gen zs are the most educated gen yet because education is no longer seen as a privilege compared to the previous generations. Also, with the appearance of the Internet and digital world, you can practically search for anything on the internet right now. Wiser because experience, they have lived longer and have experienced more than what the gen after has. However, it can be hit or miss with how the society is constantly evolving.

Brighteye21 it’s so sad that this is true. Ever since quarantine started, I’ve started to have extreme anxiety, a fact the fact that my mom thinks it’s a mindset is not helping. I’ve gone through extreme bullying, and nobody did anything. The most she got is a warning, and quarantine triggered that sense of loneliness. Thank god that my dad is understanding, but I can’t really help that fact that I haven’t felt as much happiness as I used to. I don’t really remember what pure happiness is at the moment. I want the make a change in the world, but nobody’s giving me my shot. Thankfully I have great teachers now to help me along the way. Stay safe whoever’s reading this.

I feel like a lot of older people think people just see an old person and go “ok boomer” when that’s not what it is. The term is usually just used when an old person is disrespecting or invalidating the opinions of younger generations. Or just being plain ignorant. Some people do just say it but the term itself isn’t really meant to hate on someone for their age or anything. There is sometimes people that overuse it for no reason tho.

“Ok Boomer” started as a joking rebuttal to older generations shutting down the voices of the younger generations because of their age. The fact the boomers (or just old people in general) can’t understand that just adds fuel to the flame. Edit: I am aware of what is representes to some people but why are we acting as if “ok boomer” is something used in real life? Ageist mentalities exist and have existed long before ok boomer. Yeah ageist people could use it but most people on the internet which is where it is almost always used is as a joke.

@dadisiolutosin4 жыл бұрын
Eloquently stated but missing one big aspect of context. You can't make a statement, expect someone to understand your subjective meaning and never actually explain it to them because you've completely dismissed their perspective due to their age. Apply this comment however you like. Understanding comes from communication not just making a statement you thought was funny. Voices have been shut down from all sides.
@dadisiolutosin4 жыл бұрын
@Tell Dalzonthank you. Context is important with everything in life. The quip "OK Boomer" was certainly meant as a joke but simultaneously disrespectful to some when they realise it's also used as a way of dismissing an older generation. My grandparents where from the Great Generation, born in the early 1900's. My parents as well as my generation, Gen X would never conceive of saying something like that to them. We had major generational differences as well. I would add culture plays a part in this too. Respect and care of older generations was once important in America. That's no longer the case. But for those of us from immigrant families it still matters quite a bit. I for one welcome the perspective of my elders and I'm in my 50's.
@thadiussean91334 жыл бұрын
